Was good back in 1995

This game was fun and state of the art in 1995. The graphics no doubt will be really out of date even compared to the worst of what is offered today. The game was one of a kind in its day, and if your looking for 35+ levels of ancient fun, then this is it. The game gets 4 stars for being original and fun in its day. This game was soo good that the designers became multi-millionaires and now drive around in turbo-ferraris. This was the only game i "purchased" from 1994-2000. The only one that was worth it.

the best

I had tons of fun with this game in '95 and I still play it today, although I've beaten it many times. It is very predictable once you've played it a few times but the multiplayer experience is great. If you've got a slow computer and can't play Quake III or Unreal Tournament, or simply want some old fashioned fun then this is a great game for you.

This game is great!!! (...)The game is really fun and has some great graphics for a game made in its day. One last thing, the last boss, Tchenobog, is just a wall orniment, use the cliping code to see the 'true' boss behind him.

Here is why people have still been playing it since 1995

The original Doom was such and incredible first person shooter they had to make a totally new 32 level Doom with lots more monsters, such as the Chain Gunner, the Pain Elemental, the Arch Vile and others, but still the same old weapons and graphics. My second point is the fact that they are still selling Doom 2, they are no longer selling the original Doom except for in a bundle. So since 1995 and the game is still around and selling strong, must mean something! So what is Doom 2? In Doom 2 you are a soldier just coming off of a mission in space (Doom 1), so you must return to planet Earth only to discover it has been taken over and then from there go into the heart of it all, Hades and destroy the monster behind it all. The levels are incredibly detailed with 100s of new wall textures, where you actually believe you are in a city slum overrun by monsters, and you go to the lair of the monsters to destroy the big bad bosses. With that being said, why are people still playing it? Because Doom 2 is the surface beneath it all is a whole community that supports Doom 2 by creating new levels, some easy and simple, others 64 levels of pure pain continuing the saga or starting a new saga, with new enemies, new wall textures and fun. There are even expansion packs sold with 1000s of new levels to keep you playing forever beyond the original Doom 2!

The game that started it all...

After a hard day at work, there's nothing more satisfying than planting your good old double barrel in an imp's belly and giving him the heave-ho. Doom was the beginning of a new era in PC games. It's graphics engine technology and style have shown up in almost all first person shooter games released since it's original debut. It's enduring legacy is due to the fact that the authors kept the game strategy simple: find the bad guys and blow them to tiny bits. No complicated keyboard/mouse movements or hard to use weapons, just lock, load, and kill or be killed!

Classic!

This game is truly a classic. Improvements over the last edition, especially in graphics, make this game even better! It us a lot of fun to play, and the gameplay is quite solid. This is a solid buy.

The doom series is the master king series

Since I've been reviewing all of the newer blood bathes I thought I'd go back and review this one as well. Doom and Doom II are just about where it all started. Everything that came after them had to live up to a standard. You can't get more classic then this. Although graphics and gameplay have improved with all the newer games, there's nothing like going a few rounds in an old standby. May Doom live forever :)
