DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING THIS GAME!!!

I am an 11 year old boy who is a huge Yu-Gi-Oh fan!! When I got this game I was soo disappointed.I'd save your money and buy one of the older Yu-Gi-Oh games. Now remember you can be the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh fan and be as disappointed as I was. So what I'm trying to say is DON'T GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make that a promis!

Take another look...

This "game" is much to violent in its quality and intent, too dark, and way too complicated to rate an "E" designation. While Yu-Gi-Oh has become wildly popular, even with the younger set (5 yr olds) I would rather see it recommended for a more "mature" audience. Getting points/being rewarded for annihilating one's opponent just doesn't seem conducive to teaching peaceful co-existance and conflict resolution. No wonder the world is such a tinder box.

I had high hopes for this game... It is an O.K. game for a die hard Yu-Gi-Oh! or Pokemon fan. The problem with this game is

1. Plays exactly like "yesterdays" Pokemon games.
2. WOW! You get 3 ... cards with it!
3. You might last a couple hours at the most with the horrible gameplay and graphics.
4. Has barely any relation to the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game.

OVERALL: This game is a joke :(

Bad user interface and weak AI

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 1 / 4

I am very dissappointed by the user interface and the game AI. Here is what I am botherd by:

1. When the opponent plays, the cards flip and attack super fast and you can't see what's happening until its all over. Then if you want to see a card in grave yard you have to search to the bottom of the pile to see it rather than look on top of the pile.

2. In general the game doesn't allow you to view the details of all the cards in play at any time (only the names). This is useless unless you've memorized all 1000 cards. For example:

a. If you have a magic card in play and the opponent plays a card that allows you to use the magic card, the game asks you if you want to activate the card...however, it doesn't allow you to view your opponets card even though his card is face up (it just gives you the name of the card). In otherwords, you can't read the card details thus you can't figure out what the opponents card does in order to decide if you should activate your card.

b. Some cards allow you to draw three cards and discard two, however, during the discard phase you can't view the card details of your choices to discard (only the name of the card).

3. The AI is also weak. For example, my opponent had 3 monsters able to attack me and I had none, but rather than attack the computer played a magic card that distroyed all monsters on the field....go figure.

I had high hopes for this game but the poor user interface spoils it for me.

Wow... whats the big deal?

This game i might say is Unbelievably unaventful. The gameplay is very nice, and it includes alot of new cards and strategies. but i found that the story itself is very as ive said before, uneventful. the story lines in all previous games have been a progressing five person enimy level, but this one really does not even have that. I would avoid getting this game if possible, and look more toward dungeon dice monsters if at all possible

Not An Instructional Game

This game is based largely on the Japanese version of the game. The rules and card restrictions do not represent the English version of the game.Having been to several Tournaments,I mention this due to what appears to be a general lack of understanding of the game.If you want to learn the American tournament rules,go to the Upperdeck site or call the help line on the back of the rule book.Niether the TV show nor this game should be used for instruction.Niether have any bearing on the English version(other than to confuse the kids).

Pretty face but brainless

The AI for this game is lame. Anyone old enough to read Yugioh cards will have no problem winning most of their games. The challenge level is decided by the computer opponent that you face. Mokuba is the easiest and always plays straight up attack mode with no magic or traps. Ishizu and Kaiba are the toughest and may win up to a third of their games. Their decks are stacked with ultra rare cards. Not only that, the AI cheats! This was the only way that the programmers could get their AI to win any games. Basically, the AI knows your face-down monster cards. Do not bother playing Magic Hats because the computer will guess right every time. The top computer opponents will only attack face down cards with a lower defense value. For challenge, I only play with weak decks to avoid overpowering the computer. Some deck themes like Gravity Bind are beyond its ability to counter. This will not help you to beat humans. I was disappointed that some standard cards like Ring of Magnetism or Last Will were dropped with this version. There are several bugs in its implementation of specific card rules (ie Ameba with Mystic Box, Sangan with Change of Heart). On the bright side, the included promo cards, Harpy's Feather Duster and Sinister Snake, are excellent additions to anyone's deck.

Battle City on the GBA

Konami and Nintendo have made a great YUGIOH game in the tradition of Dark Duel Stories and Eternal Duelist Soul. The gameplay is brilliant, the graphics are wonderful, and the story is cool.
You enter battle city and duel many people from the YuGiOh TV show. You can duel favorites like Kiaba, Yugi, Mai, and others, or duel people who don't even duel on the show, like Tea, or Mokuba.
The gamplay a lot better from previous YUGiOh games. Instead of looking at sheets of duelists, you get a map of battle city and choose duelists from that.
Another thing that makes this game cool is that there are a bunch of rare hunters to duel. You can also duel Marik, or Dark Joey and Tea controlled by Marik.
I would advise you to get this game. It's worth the money.
