CART Fury Not Realistic

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 2 / 2

I am a very loyal and devoted racing fan. I enjoy playing realistic simulation games such as NASCAR, F1, and Gran Turismo. I have been waiting for along time for Playstaion to come out with a CART Game. When I saw it I just had to get it and I figured it would be a cool simulation and realitic game...But I was WRONG!!! There is no realism in the game. The tracks aren't real and the drivers aren't up-to-date. You can't even race long races, you can only race a few laps.

They need to re-think what they did to this game and they need to come out with a real CART game. They can use the NASCAR and F1 games for examples.

The game that they put forth needs to be only meant for the Arcade. And in that since it would be okay because it does have good graphics.

But, looking at it from a true racefan stand point...The game is far from real. If you're a true racefan looking for a simulation game, I suggest at the most to rent this game.

This game should not have CART in its title.....

I was looking for a good CART simulation game that was like I was really racing in a CART race. This game has fantasy tracks and none of the real tracks that CART races on. Plus, there is jumps which a real CART car could not handle. This game is soo unrealistic that is should not even have CART in its title. The only thing that was realistic were the names of the drivers. That was it. I have never seen a CART race with as much crashing this one has and you can never keep up with the other cars unless they do crash and you use your so-called boost. This game is only for those looking to crash. There is no skilled required for this game. Not recommended for CART fans or even fans of serious racing games. It makes Mario Cart look good.

this game [is bad]

As an avid open wheel racing fan and strong supporter of simulation video games, this Midway release was a huge disappointment. I don't follow Midway products but it's apparent that the struggling CART racing series was thinking quick cash when they sold the licensing rights to Midway. I should have known better when there were no screen shots on the back of the game pack, only cartoon drawings. With the rising costs of home video games, I'm thankful for the rental stores and the ability to try a game for a fraction of what you would pay to purchase a copy. I'd rather play the old Atari, Pole Position than this burnout.

Midway has taken an ultra precise and often boring form of racing_Indy cart_and turned it inside out.Real physics are out the window:The cars powerslide, launch airborne, and in general behave like those in daytona USA.Sounds like a blast right?Wekk,it is and it isn't.If you're simply looking for the home version of CART fury you're in luck_byt beyond that simple order, things slow down a little. The additional Sim mode gives you adjustment options{wing angle, tire pressure.etc.}and a few other real racing features, but tweak as you might, it's still an arcade racer.Itseems like the absence of the speed burst is the only real difference from the standard game. The mini games are equally so-so.Challenges like follow the line, block your opponent and last man standing are only a few degrees different than an actual race.On the other hand,Lock on lets you shoot missiles at rival cars_that's a step in the right direction at least. In general,CART fury is a decent game but doesn't quite turn the corner to greatness.Maybe if the tracks were more dynamic with hills and valleys {come on, it's arcadey anyway}and featured more interesting shortcuts, or if there were more turbo boost power-ups....One thing is for sure_despite the landslide of loading screens, two player is the way to play. It's fast, the AI cars still race along, and most importantly it's competitive.Still.Try this one before you plunk down the big bucks.

Glad I Bought it used!

As far as racing games go, if you're REALLY bored then maybe it's worth the time to load into your PS2 (and wait for it to load). The simulation mode seems decent, with the ability to tweak your car though even that is limited. I was disappointed to find there was no pit stops. There are shortcuts, but I found them to only slow me down. The sub-games are fun, i.e. demolition. But whose idea was it to make a two sentance background music EVERY TIME the game loads? (sloooooowly) It was enough to make me want to strap m-80s to it and blow it to pieces. Do yourself a favor and turn the music(I use that term loosely) off. Would not recommend.

Really fun game that does require skill!

Ok, here is the honest truth.....I actually bought this game twice and took it back both times, thinking that is was really cheesy and silly. But then a funny thing happened. I played it with my girlfriend and she loved it!! We had a lot of fun racing every car and every track. Then, even after she got sick of it.....I KEPT PLAYING IT. I found out that it DOES take a LOT of skill to keep lowering your record times. I raced the various tracks HUNDREDS of times...each time shaving off seconds at a time...sometimes only hundreths of a second...with every tiny little time decrease being a direct result of precisely how well I drove each lap. Eventually I had ALL of the top times on EVERY track! It is very very exciting when you set the top time, especially when you are breaking your own records slightly each time! Give this game a chance....when you race it over and over again you will see that it DOES take a LOT of skill!

"I wanted to give this game ZERO STARS"

Wow,I rented this game and I still fell like I was taken. The concept, the gameplay and the graphics were awful.I could not believe that CART alowed such a game to bear it's name in despite of a alrady lackluster image the racing league has and this game does not help to improve that image. I keep waiting for someone to make an open-wheel racing game that is in league with Gran Turismo, but it seems I will have to wait a little longer.

STEP UP TO THE PLATE...

As an avid race fan and game player, I'd like to see anyone step to the challenge that CART Fury presents. I've played just about every racing game since NES and Genesis (who can forget Danny Sulivan's Indy Heat?), and CART Fury is the first game to give me a REAL challenge. The graphics are great and the music is fast-paced, giving the game an intensity that all racers deserve. The arcade mode is especially great for two players, with superboost and super-tight races every time. As far as simulation mode, I DARE YOU! If you like racing games or if you need a good challenge, go pick up CART Fury.

Really under the expectations, after read other's review

I don't understand what all this people are thinking?.. if you are looking for a formula 1 race game, I don't recommend this game. It's fast I addimited that. But there is no realistic play conditions. You get tried really fast because there isn't challenge ... Sorry, but is better you wait for a real game....
