This game is about a princess out to rescue the two guys who usually rescue her. Various gaming magazines say this game should hold fans over until "the real deal, New Super Mario Bros." comes out. I'm not waiting for that game, I'm doing fine with just this one. Enough rammbling though.

Super Princess Peach essentially plays like a standard side-scrolling Super Mario video game, except that you don't use fire flowers, leaves, or various animal suits to power up. Instead, you rely on raw emotion, which you can activate by touching the screen. You can also buy new special effects for your umbrella as well.

Not a very effective review, I know. This is my second draft.

The game is rumble-pak compatible. I got mine with Metroid Pinball, but you can get one by itself from Nintendo's official website.

The gameplay is solid, but the control set-up is not perfect. A for jump and B for attack would be a good thing if this were a Game Boy game, but the buttons are laid out differently on the DS as I explained in my DS/Mario Kart bundle review.
A for Jump.
B or Y for Attack.
X for picking stuff up. Then press down to have the umbrellas go Kirby and swollow your eneimes to refil your Vibe powers bar.
Holding L or R allows you to move slower. This is good for walking across unsteady bridges and blocks.

12 out of 17 people found my initial review helpful. A shame I had to reset that number by rewriting my review but a few differences have come up. I had previously said that Tomb Raider Legend was not announced for any Nintendo console. That has changed.

First of all, let's clear something up. SPP is not "too girly". It is not as if SMB was ever a "manly man's game" to begin with, so if the only reason you haven't tried this yet is because the lead character is female, you are officially ridiculous.

That said, I'll get to the actual game. It's awesome, and NOT too easy. Sure, the first few stages are pretty simple, as you get used to the various mechanics. But as the game goes on, you get fewer hints, less obvious puzzles, and more unforgiving platform placements. Still, Nintendo's magic touch prevails; the puzzles are always fair and logical, and a combination of skill and ingenuity will always pull you through.

It's not too short, either. There are eight, rather large stages, filled with plenty of challenges and collectables. There is also a big "shop" where you can buy tons of stuff, much of which is actually useful. And for the hardcore, the option is there to run through all the stages again after beating the final boss, for the purpose of getting absolutely everything.

The trimmings are no slouch, either. The graphics are sharp, and many of the tunes are actually hum-able. The use of Peach's emotions to solve puzzles is really clever (getting mad to fuel a hot air balloon? Awesome), and Perry (the umbrella) is one of my favorite new video game characters. SPP is a rock-solid platformer not to be missed by Nintendo lovers.

Okay, so I, too, had heard how easy this game was. Yes, it is easy, at least at first..then it get's more challenging, about mid-game (third world or so). And yes, they have these wonderfully elaborate bosses that you have to destroy, and the game does give it away (in the form of info boxes like they did in Mario World, hit them and they give you a hint, or tips) but you know, if you want to have a bit more of a challenge, don't hit the info box when you enter the door or tube before a boss!

Peach's umbrella is a lot of fun..running out to vibes in your vibe meter? Eat about three or four enemies to fill it up! Later, you can go to Toad's Shop and buy special power-ups (A metroid-esque charge up by holding "B" for example) and even a ground, er, umbrella pound. I finally got the Yoshi-like ability to use it to float by pressing and hold "A" after jumping..

Most bosses require you to use your vibes to beat them, and some of them are fairly challenging.
Vibes are as follows:
*Joy-A cyclone will wrap around Peach. While pressing "A" She will float higher in the air.
*Rage-Flames surround Peach(This one is hilarious to watch! Grrr! She stomps around, buring everything in her path! lol)
*Gloom-Peach starts bawling, and runs quickly
*Calm-refills your heart meter but uses up your vibe meter

A lot of people and reviewers thought this game was too easy compared to a standard Mario game, but I'll be honest here: I find most of the Mario games very difficult to beat..in fact, the only ones I've ever beat on my own, are Mario Land (for the gameboy) and Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins (also for gameboy) So, Super Princess peach was just right for me!

Want to make the game even more challenging? Don't buy any extra hearts or vibe meters! Play the game as is! I've died a lot more then I thought I would that way...

At Toad's shop, (accessable between levels) you can get extra heart containers, extra vibes meters, music room sounds and other things. The only thing I have done was buy an extra vibe meter (you'll always be running out!) but not hearts, so the game is (especially in later levels) more on-par with a Mario game in difficulty.
You don't have to do this, but I choose to, because the game was too easy in the beginning(yes, even for me)..now, without extra hearts, I'm dying a lot in these later levels and bosses, and have to be extra careful..

Also, there are puzzle pieces to collect in each level, and three toads per level..sure, you could whiz by and beat it without, but it's a lot more fun to explore everything, use your vibes and find all three toads in each level. Puzzle pieces (12 per puzzle) are hidden one per level (I think) and when all the pieces are found, you can race the clock to put the puzzle together, rotating pieces with your stylus.
There are other fun mini-games you can unlock in the game, and in Toad's Store, you can buy up to 10 different difficulties of the minigames..so far, my favorite is a Mario-esque game where you have to blow into the mic to get toad to jump over enemies and holes, as the game scrolls. It's quite challenging..by blowing harder or softer you control the height of his jump!

There are more mini games to unlock, but I haven't found them all!
I've gotten to know each level quite well, searching for the toads and puzzle pieces..perhaps I should write a FAQ on it!

I was sure I was going to hate this game (the protagonist uses her Moods to get through the game! Sexist!), but I've been playing and playing it since I got it! I've heard there's something special when you beat the game the first time. I'll let you all know my final thoughts when I beat it..

This is one game I'm keeping. It's fun to stomp goombas, Paratroopers and (finally) take out Piranna Plants, Bullet Bills..there's even pesty Lakitu! All the old favorites are here!
But, there's some new enemies.."Angry" enemies chrage at you, "sad" ones rush at you, "happy" ones bounce around, etc.
All in all, Peach does Mario proud in her new game.

Great game if...

I'm a 21 year old girl who'd rather play a fun game than an intense game. Super Princess Peach is perfect for me. It's fun. It's a little bit challenging. I don't have to play it every day, like I feel compelled to do with Animal Crossing. Princess Peach has some pretty cool powers she can use. I really love this game. It's my favorite game for the DS so far. If you're looking for an incredibly challenging, action packed game, this one is not for you. Still, I love it.

I consider this game to be one of the best. It's really fun. It has all of the basic elements of Super Mario games - with a twist. I really like that Peach is the one saving the guys this time. Actually there is nothing I can honestly say I strongly dislike about the game. I think I will be enjoying this game for a long time. Here are some of the things I like the most:

-The "damsel" is actually saving the heroes this time
-The mood powers provide a great boost in times of need
-You can kill almost any monster by hitting it with the umbrella
-There are a lot of unlockable mini games and puzzles etc.
-The worlds are not to easy and not to hard to pass

There are a couple more things that I like but this is my top 5.

This is a comically interesting game as it answers the tantalizing question: What if the hero is the victim, and the victim is the hero? Personally, I smile upon games like this. I mean why should a beautiful princess always the target of the kidnapping, rather than the heroic plumber? Apparently Nintendo wondered the same thing, which resulted in this. Now Bowser get a taste of girl power, a bitter pill that's hard to swallow! Like in my other reviews, I will give you the bad and the good, in that order.

The Bad:

1. The game is slightly too easy in some areas. It isn't the hardest to beat, due to the fact it's rather basic and straightforward

2. No real closure on the second storyline. I see two storylines in this game. The first storyline is that Mario and Luigi, as well as a bunch of toads, have been kidnapped and it's up to Peach, and a talking umbrella named Perry, to save them. The second storyline features the mystery of Perry himself. After all, it's rare for umbrellas to talk, even in the Mushroom Kingdom. There isn't a very good way to explain this, seeing as it would spoil the story (I'm not too huge on spoilers), but it lacks closure. You will learn things about him throughout the game, a couple of facts may even surprise you! Truth to be told, though, Perry's problems are never resolved in this game (perhaps Nintendo wishes to make another game to wrap that up). Which is a letdown.

3. Peach picks now to develop emotional powers after all of the times she's been kidnapped? Maybe this is merely because she is on Vibe Island, but I can't help but suspect that maybe we girls are being made fun of... It also doesn't make sense that with all these powers she couldn't defend herself from a spike shelled turtle all of those years ago...

The Good:

1. I think that this game may give girls some respect! I mean, why should a girl always be the one whose kidnapped? This game helps teach that even boys sometimes stumble.

2. Good stylus fun! There are many mini games and 'events before boss fights' that require the stylus. These games are oddly fun!

3. Peaches vibe powers are fun to use! Peach can either cry with the gloom vibe, start fires with the anger vibe, fly with the joy vibe, or even heal herself with the calm vibe. It's entertaining, and the music forces itself to match with the current vibe.

4. Teaches basic problem solving, including puzzles. What will give you a hard time in this game, is you will need to think outside of the box once in a while. Some problems are simply solved, but the idea is difficult to come up with! Your problem solving skills will surely be fostered!

5. Areas are various. You can be on a beach one second, and be in a glacier the next!

6. The bosses are fun, and require their own bits of strategy.

7. You can see every enemy you have creamed in the glossary, or listen to music you managed to pick up in the game!

Overall, this is a fun game! It has the Mario touch, with the right new twists to make it an entertaining, groovy, and maybe even a touch humorous game. I recommend it to all ages!

When Nintendo announced that they were bringing a new Super Mario Brothers game to the DS, the majority of gamers out there rejoiced. Critics ranted and raved, Mario's upcoming game would be the true return to platforming that has been long overdue. But Nintendo unveiled Super Princess Peach as well, and it looked as though Peach wouldn't get any sort of praise for her would-be platforming goodness. Well, I'm here for you, Peach. Super Princess Peach is actually, and you're hearing this correctly, a good DS game with few gameplay problems to speak of. Once you put down your chicken-boobs-and-beer manliness and adapt to the pink, fuzzy, cute Peach charm, you can learn to love the gameplay concepts found within.

Peach plays almost the same as a typical Mario game, but Peach's lighter weight makes her a little less likely to cause harm by jumping on the heads of incoming attackers. Instead, Peach uses a trusty umbrella to attack everything in her way, as well as four different "vibe" powers that are activated by touching large buttons on the bottom of the screen. Throughout the typical platforming levels, which feature tons of enemies, simple but clever puzzles, and elusive collectible items, Peach can find coins that can be spent in Toad's Store for even more abilities.

The vibe powers that Peach has are interesting aspects in themselves. They're used for attacking, travel, and puzzles, something that definitely goes below the surface of the "travel from left to right" gameplay that Mario and Sonic games have so often supported. One of Peach's vibes is the "Joy" vibe, which sends Peach happily floating in the sky. This vibe lets her float, fly, and conjure a cyclone to blow things away. Another vibe is the "Anger" vibe, which sets Peach on fire when activated. Peach's fiery body incinerates enemies while she stomps along. The stomping even allows Peach to hurt bigger enemies (like the Wiggler boss) and stomp on switches. The third vibe, the "Sad" vibe, sends peach wailing, her tears being used to douse flames or water plants. While crying, Peach travels very quickly, allowing players to run and jump around at higher speeds. The last of the four vibes is "Calmness", which restores her health at the sake of losing some extra Vibe "juice", the fuel that powers her ability to use emotions.

Despite the amount of moves and abilities players can gain in Peach, one shouldn't assume that it's a difficult game. Every level is rather easy, even in the later parts of the game. Finding the Toads that are lost in each level (just one of the several "elusive collector items" I mentioned earlier) is just a matter of searching each room until you come across a very obvious, large, pink, and bouncy box. Some of the boss fights required effort, though Wiggler was particularly annoying, and it took me about four lives to put the angry worm down. Sadly, this is the place where Peach breaks a nail; the gameplay is fun, but the game isn't very long at all. I would estimate that the average player could beat this game in a few quiet sittings. All of the unlockable items are an added bonus to those gamers that want to get everything in the game, but going back through every easy level to find hidden items isn't necessarily the most enjoyable thing to do.

Sadly, Peach also isn't the most technically advanced game. The graphics want to scream "old-school", but if the DS is capable of recreating a Nintendo 64 classic like Super Mario 64 with improved visuals, certainly Nintendo could do a little more than make a fresh Peach sprite and new sprites for enemies like Goombas and Koopa-Troopas. Peach is like that moderately-attractive girl that is appealing once you get to know her, but doesn't look like anything special at first glance.

Super Princess Peach isn't just a game for your little sister, or your daughter, or your girlfriend. It's an entertaining platforming game in its own right. It may only take a few hours to complete, but it goes to show that the plumber in red isn't the only Nintendo star who can steal some limelight. I'd highly recommend this game to DS owners, especially those of you who enjoyed Super Mario 64, Kirby's Canvas Curse, or Yoshi's Touch & Go on the handheld. Until Mario steals the show with the "New Super Mario Brothers" later this spring, Peach is your best handheld platforming outlet.

sure you may think that this game is not good because peach is saving mario but this game is as fun as the regular mario games. Mario is kidnapped and his friends and its up to peach to save mario so in this game as you can see you play as peach. Let me tell you a lil bit of this game. First off peach has interesting powers unlike mario has. Her powers rely on her emotions so the 4 emotions u can choose are: angry, sad, joy, and calm. Angry is when peach bursts up in fire with rage and u can use to burn down bridges or icy stuff like snowmen. Crying is when peach is sad and can make things grow with her tears. Joy is when peach flys up in the hair and can make a tornato. Calm is when peach can heal herself up slowely use this when peach is low on hp. Also when u use her emotions u use your stylus on the touch screen and click on one of her emotions. When u run out of the points u can recharge by either using peachs umbrella to pick up a creature and crouching down to absorbe it to get the points or by finding one of those blue chrystal type of things which will recharge it as well. There are things you can find in the game like puzzle peices and minigames that you can unlock. There is a shop that you can buy stuff like a better umbrella which is quite helpful to buy in the game and can be stronger in battle for peach. Each chapter in the game at the end u fight the boss. each time u go to the next lvl u hav to find 3 toads so dont forget to find them as well. I hope this review was helpful enough.

A really great game.

I was a little apprehensive about a game based on Princess Peach, but it was really really fun, and enough different that it wasn't just another Mario game (although I love those too). My only (very minor) complaint is Princess Peach's voice, which was a little annoying. What else could you expect from her though? Oh, and a side-story that went seemingly nowhere. But honestly, I had a lot of fun playing it, and even my husband, who rarely plays games, has been enjoying it.
