Why you gotta hate? Why won't let this game out? Sorry, but I bought my PS2 for Soul Reaver 2, I own one other PS2 game. Thanx

Just as i had waited months for the first Soul Reaver release I am waiting months for this one, as I know many of you are. The first Soul Reaver was one of the greatest, coolest, funnest, and most intriguing games I have ever played. And how the previous game ended makes the wait for this one even harder. They really need to get this game out fast so that it is not lost and forgotten under the cover of Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry, and Silent Hill 2. Plus the prequel, Blood Omen 2, is supposed to be coming out soon after SR2. Those how have not played the previous games to this series do not pass this one by. Once you see these graphics and characters wrapped in this vampire storyline you will be hooked.

This follow up of Soul Rever: Legacy of Kain that apearred on the playstation is without a dought a must own for action/adventure fans.

The story goes:
Raziel emerges from the Chronoplast time portal, and returns to different eras of Nosgoth's past in his relentless pursuit of Kain.

Over the course of his journey, he unearths the mysteries of Nosgoth's ancient races, and exposes the secrets behind the corruption of the Pillars and the vampire genocide.

Confronting the shadows of his unremembered past, he discovers a web of destiny stretching eons into Nosgoth's dim, unrecorded history.

As his destiny comes full circle, Raziel finds his personal vendetta transformed into a hero's journey, with the fate of Nosgoth hanging in the balance.

First let me point out the weak side of thing. This game lacks any real boss fights, that made the 1st one so good and enjoyable. There're bosses in this game, but few and far between and seem alot easier to kill, making them feel just like fillers to hold in the action fanitics. Next is the games length. The 1st one was around 18-20hrs, for part 2 its more around 10-12hrs, whitch is good or bad thing...just depends on how you look at it. The last problem with this game is the end...we get another TBC ending...no conlusion whats so ever.

With that out of the way, I must aprise the grapics desginer, sound, and gamplay that are all topnotch. The argitcuter of the game is a sight to behold and the fluid controls make for a game anyone can pick up and play. Last but not lest, the sound is the one of the best to come out of the games released so far.

So if the pluses out weight the negitives give this game a try, you will be given a lot of anweners that came up with the 1st game, but when its over a lot more will have risen to be left unawensered.

Let down after the long wait

After being on a waiting list of almost one year to get this game, to be honest I and everyone else expected to be blown away. After Soul Reaver I, which was really something for a PS1 game, this PS2 version is nothing special. There are fun moments and some nice cut scenes, and cut scenes, oh and did I mention the cut scenes? Hey we all wanted a game but we got sold a movie with a few "gaming" sequences.

people say that this game is too short, whatever, the problem with this game is puzzles that are dumb and/or too hard to figure out on your own. Look around entire rooms for something, even the ceiling, than screw up and not be able to solve the puzzle because of a game glitch, that's always fun. Don't buy this game unless you're interested in completing the entire series (which I now don't see myself doing.)

Soul Reaver 2(legacy of Kain) Is a true sequal to the 1st soul reaver game. An entraping story line and beautiful back drops and landscapes. Interesting and challenging puzzles all captured in a Gothic Hero's tale.

Great game, though the Battle play is a bit flawed.

Puzzling wierd and stupid!

I basicely got this gamebefore legacy of kain and thought it would be good I was so wrong. When I first played I got stuck on the place where you have to get a light reaver. At least you get to steal weapons. I cant even bare to use the reaver it is so flimsey bye bye

I just "solved" SR2 last night. Visually, it was a triumph for Crystal Dynamics. Spectacular effects, a motion camera that worked pretty much flawlessly throughout, and a combat system that was both simple to learn as well as versatile for both the "button mashers" and strategists.

There were some minor framerate hits toward the end (nothing drastic, but noticable.) The end fight sequence was a bit of a "gimme", but the surprise ending (which I won't divulge here... Oh, okay...Darth Vader is also Raziel's father... those silly Sith Lords get around! ;-) ) was handled quite well.

And it also ends with the now obligatory cliffhanger... hopefully, SR3 will uphold the tradition of fine story-driven computer titles that has earmarked this series over recent years, and will be released soon enough to keep Raz-fans happy.

SR2 only garnered 4 stars from me due largely to its length; compared with its PSX predecessor, it seemed to end rather abruptly and I got the impression in several areas that they had intended to develop other sections and simply didn't get around to it. Part of this is understandable, given the size of the development team and the sheer scope of the work they produced. This was somewhat offset by the extra added content (concept art, what amounts to the script for the dialog, voice sessions with the leads, outtakes, etc.) Still, it would have been nice for a bit more game content to explore. To give credit however, they did a nice job of scripting the storyline in such a way that it naturally unfolded while at the same time remaining concise and unfettered with unnecessary minutia. The voice acting was superb, and shares top billing with the visuals for conveying the narrative.

Turn the sound up and the lights down as you enjoy this one! :)

I will chose Quality over Quanity every time. I was beginning to think that the requirement for intense graphics and great game play in a PS2 game was unbearable load times every few minutes(Red Faction). Well guess what there is NO IN GAME LOADING.

Pros: NO LOADING
Top Notch Graphics
Top Notch Voice Acting
Top Notch Story Line

Cons: Short Game
Saving at specified points only
