Chromehounds is an online masterpiece

Ok, don't buy this game if you do not play online. The story mode is the worst part of the game and only takes about 8 hours to complete, if that. The story mode is still important as it gives you free parts to make your mech for online play. However the war is where its at. Not only can you setup ranked battles against other players, but you can also setup battles with your friends against the CPU all in the name of your nation. Levels take a long time to come by, and it feels like you've accomplished something when you get them. Rising your clan to the top makes you feel great to. Servers update every hour letting you know the goings on in the world, and teams and players get special recognition for great achievement (and for donating 10 million to their nation, which is also an achievement). To participate in the war, you must be part of a clan, and all members of your clan must be the same nationality. At the end of the war your squad can switch affiliations, to get all the best parts each side has to offer. Great online game, great gameplay and strategy. A must have for any online gamer.

If you don't have XBOX Gold - RUN AWAY

This game SUCKS. The single player is VERY shallow, and short. There IS NO MULTIPLAYER on splitscreen. ALL the multiplayer is XBOX 360 GOLD. Unless you already have XBOX Gold, THIS IS A WASTE OF $60.

I had really high hopes for this title; I used to trust Sega as a publishing house. While they got the graphics right, and the gameplay is fun (though can't hold a candle to Mechwarrior), the single player is just NOT WORTH IT.

My friends tell me XBOX Gold multiplayer is good, but I wouldn't know. At least with a PC game, they give you a month or two of free online access for your $60.

STAY AWAY.

Awesome graphics, but boring and slow!!!

I purchased chromehounds on the launch date. Played it and gets confused so easily. The background music gets annoying after a few minutes... I simply hate the music!!!I started off with the story mode. The first mission was some instructor showing you how to operate a hound. The problem is the instructor's voice is so hard to understand. The graphics are simply awesome and realistic. The Maps are Huge, which makes it hard to search for enemies. It took me 4-5 minutes to find a couple of tanks to shoot at. After 10 minutes of story mode, I got bored and decided to go online. Online will confuse any one. It took an hour to figure out how to join a game, such as capture the flag. The downside is that connecting to a game online with other players is difficult....75% of the time, I was unable to connect to the host. After 2-3 hours of playing online, I managed to play 1 game...capture the flag. It was fun at first, but because the map is so huge, it gets boring walking around just to look for other player's hound. Late at night, I felt this game wasn't for me and sold it online. In my opinion, chromehounds are meant for patient people and 100% mech lover that likes to look at the back of these walking machines' back. Mechassault 1 is Much more fun to play than this game.

could have been much better

If you want your Xbox 360 to get the "ring of death" or whatever or freeze up while playing, then by all means buy this game. I hop on Xbox live and can't even play with my squadmates because the freezing is so bad. Also disconnects and other lockup issues are crippling to this game. DO NOT BUY THIS. Last game I will ever buy from Sega.

New 360 game missed again

Call it a 3.5. The game is good enough with decent sound and the graghics at times are very good, but I don't think they are up to the 360. I cannot vouch for the online play, I'll leave that to others. But, for those of us who like a good single player game (not online) or to play co-op (offline) it ain't there. I love the fact that you can play any of the hounds and do each one through the limited single player game, but there really is no single player game, much less co-op. There really is no story line and it is over in about an hour or so. I was really dissapointed in that part of it. So if you're like most and only want to play online you'll probably like it, but if you are hunting for a good campaign game pass it by for now. One way or the other I'd wait for the price to go down if I had it to do over again.

This game rocks on an old school CRT.

Here is an intersting heads up on this game. I have a HD built in TV, love it. I always thought the X-Box 360 games were better on the HD ( for those who have HD ) than on a CRT, and still think they all are, except this game. The graphics of this game, when displayed on a high end CRT with component connections are stunningly superb and is just as good on a regular CRT. The lines are sharp, the colours don't bleed, and the tradional CRT lines adds this ridiculous realism to the game and its style. Based on my experience, high def for some reason does not do this game any justice, everything just seems sloppy. On a traditional old school CRT this game comes richly alive. Check it out.
(PS: Get good quality connectors, don't skimp)
GREAT GAME..!

It's an ok game by its self but I haven't been able to try it online yet where the company and many others who have played it say it really is a blast to play.
Over all I don't care much for it. I would much rather play Mechwarrior online.

Still waiting for Mechwarrior on the xbox 360

Great graphics, nearly impossible to follow levels... They're not hard just it's hard to figure out what's next. very little help is given, you just end up restarting levels and heading off in different directions hoping to find what your supposed to do.

Very Fun

If you are a mech fan you will love this game, the controls are pretty easy but there is a steep learning curve for some of the missions.
