Greatest Computer Game Ever Made!!!

Red Alert is the most awesome game ever created. Every thing about it is wonderful, especially the gameplay. Red Alert is best played if you include the "Aftermath" and "Counterstrike" add-ons. Everyone should own a copy of Command and Conquer: Red Alert!!!

Stunning, but it could be better!

Definatly an improvement to Comand & Conquer. Its great portrail of the worlds history brings out the beauty of the games wonders. Although it coule be much better, it does lack in certain qualities but not many or majoy ones. You would think that the follow up - Tiberian Sun would have tried to follow on Red Alerts great game play but sadly no. It just came up far behind being way to dark and mystereous. Red Alerts weapons, vehicles, people and buildings are just right and not futuristiky which is good. And to top it all off it is just sooooo adictive once you start playing it. You just have to get to the next level, thats why it is so good and worth what you will pay for it.

the game is good..excellent strategy game...so why one star?.

the game is made UNFAIRLY. The russians are way much stronger and powerful than the allies. Eventough by playing on the allies side is very challenging, the fact that the game is made unfairly and so i gave it one star.

the best is still the original C&C by westwood.

Red Alert is a fun buy but not as good as RA2

Red Alert has awesome items like the telsa coils and the mig airplanes and some other EXTREMELY NEAT STUFF! But the game is very fun but not as good as RA2. RA2 Has alot more neat stuff than this does. Now to make Red Alert really fun though, buy Aftermath and Counterstrike. Also the single player missions are fun at first, and are very challanging, I just have to say that red alert to is for people who like the classics and fair graphics games.

This is by far the best game I have ever played. I've owned it for a long long time and still I am not bored of it. If you like real time stragety games you will love this.

This game is moderately strategic

I played this game for a bit and found it was ok. It was very violent and futuristic, but i guess thats what teenagers want these days. I found the campaigns very easy, as I beat them in a week. The game isnt very strategic, but it has it's strategy points. This game should not be rated 5 stars. The graphics are mediocre, the music is annoying, and the gameplay is slightly boring after a while. As you go through the world as either the Russians or the English, you face many campaigns that you must beat. It was clever of them to put them together, but they are very easy. You can go along several paths, another plus, but the paths all end the same way if you win.

This game is also not very strategic. You are either allied or soviet, and each team has completely different units. That maybe strategic, but there are only 2 points of views to master. In Age of Empires or Age of Kings, there are many different civilizations each with bonuses and special units. Also, the terrain has no affect on how damage is dealt. It will just deal the same amount every time. No matter to what kind of unit. In AOK, each unit has a different amount of armor, some have attack bonuses against certain units, and units have the advantage in battle when they are uphill.

This game is also very violent and bloody with futuristic weapons. Not the kind of game i would like my kids playing. In AOK, the units use bows, arrows, and swords, with not much blood and historical features. It also has a whole history book of all the tribes that you can be and their history.

Oh. What the point of the game is. Blow the other team to bits with guns as big as you can.

I didnt like this game much, and from my review, you can see that I would reccommend Age of Empires or Age of Kings. See my review of Age of Empires Collecter's Edition. Before you even consider buying this game.

An Instant Classic

This is one of the most remarkable games ever put out for the PC. I know people that wouldn't, under any circumstances, consider themselves a computer gamer, but have nevertheless played Red Alert. That's how fun it is. From the day it was released, it was obvious this was going to be one of the best real time strategy games of all time.

It is the pace of Red Alert that distinguishes it from some of the older classics, such as the original Command & Conquer and Dune II. After you've played this game, the other ones will seem to be going in slow motion. Multiplayer games in Red Alert are frequently over within 20 minutes, and the actual outcomes can be determined in skirmishes that last just seconds. What is probably most appealing about this is the fact that it's realistic- 20 minutes is about right for a real battle. Unlike the long slugging matches and wars of attrition you can get into in some other real-time strategy titles, you will never get into a deadlock in Red Alert.

For those of you who were appalled by the AI in old Command & Conquer (more like, the lack thereof), the Red Alert AI is much improved. You won't see an enemy army camped peacefully in the middle of your base anymore, and they can actually fight in multiplay. The single player missions are challenging, and have a great plot. You definitely get a feel for both sides and what they are fighting for, and the acting- though at times somewhat painful- was a good backdrop for the action.

Balance between the Soviet and Allied sides is well done. In general, the Allies move faster and have superior naval power (the Aftermath add-on balances the navies somewhat). The Soviets have stronger but slower units, and better air power. What distinguishes Red Alert (and its sequel, as well) is the fact that the units are really different. They aren't just clones of the other side with different graphics, and many have very specialized uses. There are innumerable tactical plans you can choose, each using different units, maneuvers, and strategies.

One thing that will not work- and this is a good thing- is playing totally defensive. Unlike some other RTS games (Tiberian Sun, Starcraft, or Total Annihilation) sitting in your base and trying to hold off your opponents is a sure way to lose. This is good because Red Alert matches are therefore more than a bunch of rushes and resource wars, but tend to be climactic battles that usually involve large numbers of tanks and perhaps air and sea support. Now, I realize some people enjoy spending hours whittling down their enemies and being whittled in return, and if you're one of those people then this game isn't for you. For all the rest of us, it's a joy to play.

Pretty Cool

This game has no strategy involved, its about who can make the most tanks, men, etc... I have won in 20 minutes by mass producing my tanks...

This Game rocks!

This game was the first C&C game
I ever played. It rocks! I've
played other war games like Real War.
It was not long enough. It is only
good for the campeign mode. It
is a little too bloody for
little kids. But, otherwise it is
a great game. I recomend it!!!!!!!

good game
