Huge fan of 2k5 and below...Hated 2k6...Love 2k7

Let me start off by saying that I have been a huge 2K baseball fan since the days of Dreamcast. The year 2006 (2k6) was a big disappointment for this game and since I have crossed my fingers that it was a on time blunder. I am convinced it is after playing 2k7. Not to say that there are no differences between 2k5 (not a typo) and 2k7. However they are negligible. This game is a little different and will take some getting use to but the differences in my opinion are for the better. I have always been a fun factor 1st as well as(the depth of content stats etc) and graphics 2nd. 2k7 gives you the customizing ability that allows you to play the game like it's predecessors. The pitching interface is awesome and is just as challenging as hitting now. I still prefer the button swing over the swing stick though I haven't gave the stick a chance. Franchise is back and so far ten times better. With options that allow you raise concessions and ticket prices similar to Madden. Still lacks as far as the minor league is concerned. one reviewer had mentioned that there were no more speed bursts for base running or fielding but it is in the options. For people who like a realistic baseball game this is a buyer.

Unrealistic

I love baseball very much. It makes me sad, however, that this is the only baseball game available for the Xbox 360. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun and most of its cons are easy to look over except for one: AI defense.

The game infuriates me when it shows that I hit a homerun and an AI outfielder climbs 39 steps up the wall and catches the ball with his back facing it. The defense makes EXTREMELY unrealistic and unfair plays. This takes away from the game and makes me not want to play it.

Another thing is the hitting. The pitches come at you too fast to distinguish if it is a strike or not. It seems more luck than skill. Also, the rosters aren't as up to date as they could be.

Overall, the game is fun but the AI defense is insane.

Not for baseball history buffs

My favorite game of all time while growing up was Micro League Baseball, for one simple reason: historical teams. I was able to play fantasy leagues pitting the 1980 Phillies against the '63 Dodgers, with all of their rosters intact... from Sandy Koufax to Steve Carlton, and the lesser known players who I eventually grew to know because of the game.

So I was excited to learn that 2K7 also has a large group of historical teams: the 27 Yanks, 55 Brooklyn Dodgers, 88 Dodgers, 86 Mets, etc. Upon actually trying the game, though, I was sorely disappointed. The so-called 27 Yanks don't have a SINGLE member of the actual 1927 Yanks on their roster. That's right: No Babe Ruth, and no Lou Gehrig. Koufax is nowhere to be found on the 63 Dodgers. Orel Hershiser is AWOL from the 88 Dodgers. What, then, is the point of having these so-called historical teams in the game in the first place? If you find out, please let me know.

I'm glad I rented the game rather than buying it. It's going back to Blockbuster and I will not be purchasing it.

Game play is great. Fantasy baseball league is stellar. Graphics and animation are phenomenal. Replay is highly likely. A great game!

Not Quite MVP Baseball......but a solid baseball game!

First and foremost I have been a die hard EA Sports guy since the dawn of Electronic Arts sports games. I was very upset that EA lost the license to make Major League Baseball games, the last being MVP 2005 (the best baseball game made for any console in my opinion). I recently bought an Xbox 360 and was told by some friends that MLB 2k7 is a solid game and was worth purchasing.

Pros: The pitching aspect of this game is awesome. It is more difficult that i had imagined which is a good thing because i was getting way to many no-hitters and one hitter in MVP. The Graphics are beautiful. The detail put into player animations and stadium graphics really show the power of the 360. I love the amount of camera views they give as well. Joe Morgan and Co. do a great job announcing the game, they also give in depth analysis on pitchers and batters that really makes you feel like you are in the majors!

Cons: The gameplay is lacking. I am not a huge fan of the "hit stick", perhaps over time and through many repetitions i will learn to enjoy it, but for now i wish it just used a button to swing. Infield fielding is not very forgiving. I have had several errors and routine grounders become base hits because you must be in perfect position to scoop up a grounder/pop up....which can be frustrating. I also think 2k could have made the franchise mode a little more in depth...MVP had a much deeper franchise with more minor league interaction.

Overall this game is very good. I would recommend it to any simulation baseball fan, however i am still awaiting EA to get the rights to Baseball again!!

This Is Why EA Should Not Get A Monopoly On Sports Games!

I have not bought a baseball game for about 4 years. I got this as a present, and I loved it, I play it all the time.

The controls are hard to learn, but once you learn them they are real easy, you just must get used to them. You can rob home runs, make diving catches, and cause collisions at the plate. There are 3 different kinds of swings: Power {home runs}, Regular {hits}, and Bunts. You can substitute pitchers, sub defense, pinch hit, pinch run, and change the roster easily. Jon Miller and Joe Morgan do the commentary, which is very funny. They say many funny things and add some fun to the game. You can argue close calls, beaning, or questionable decisions. If you hit the buttons fast enough, you will boost you team's stats for an inning, but if you don't and get tossed, your team will lose statistics and you will not be able to make substitutions. If you bean too many batters, your pitcher will get tossed from the game. Injuries are also common in the game. You can get hurt by diving, overworking players, or being hit by pitches. You can put players on the DL and put them back when they are better.

You can play many kinds of games on MLB 2k7. You can do single games, seasons, home run derbies, situations, manager showdown, and more. The seasons are very fun. You can select the pitcher, and fix the roster. You can send players to AA or AAA baseball. There is also a free agent market with over 100 players. Your team has a bank, and you can buy free agents at will. There is also fan buzz, which determines how popular you team is, you set your ticket prices, and you keep your lineup in shape. Pitchers have a certain amount of stamina, and if you overwork your pitchers they will be injured. Your regular batters also have stamina too, so they must get a break after a while. There is also a news board, where you can see news, arguements, and issues through baseball.

There are also many other things to do. You can see MLB records, play air hockey, darts, and many other mini games. If you break records, Joe Morgan will announce them and you will go in the record books. There is a thing called "Inside Edge" where you earn points for acheiving things, and then you can buy a player's inside edge report and see where a better's hot and cold zones are. You can also create players, and boost their stats as much as you want. You can make pitchers throw weird pitches like a slurve, eephus, screwball, palmball, and forkball.

The game has flaws too. Home runs are robbed way too often {it rarely happens in MLB, but it is common on this}. The seasons frequently glitch and will not play, and free agent and inside edge reports are grossly overpriced.

Awesome Game

This is by far one of the best sports games I own. I can't put it down. The graphics are great...the stadiums look realistic...the players look realistic. There are so many options available. In season mode, you can call-up and send-down players, contract issues, have team meetings to increase morale. The play on Easy is a little rediculous. About every other homer I hit the Outfielder jumps over the wall and robs it. Pro takes a bit to get used to...but it's more realistic. Only con's I have is that it tends to freeze for me sometimes...usually in the 9th inning when I'm making a rally...but I am in Iraq and there's lots of dust around, so that might be it. Also, baserunning is still pretty poor. Some might like the new feature of using the RS to start your step and then swing. Tho, I stopped using it and went to classic push button style, I'm sure for some, this is a great new feature. I just like simply pushing the button. I like how you can pick the different alternate uniforms, but I wish you can pick the other teams uniforms too before you play them...like in NCAA football 2007.

This Game Sucks So Bad

I am so glad that I rented this game. Because the game is garbage with a $60.00 price tag. 2k sports proves yet again why they are an inferior franchise.

The Good:
Pitching is O.K. sometimes

The Bad:
Controls are garbage.
The game is not realistic
Base Running is impossible
Hitting with the "hit stick" makes me want to throw my controller out of the window after I try to hit a home run and the player bunts.
The Fielding sucks, it's not accurate at all
The game is not fun at all
The graphics suck for a Next Gen Game

MLB should be embarrassed that this is it's only title out there. I think it's about time that we get some competition out there. No-one would buy this game if there was an alternative. Mario Baseball for Gamecube is better than this game.

I am glad I rented it and did not pay $60.00 for it.

AWESOME Major Improvement from 2K6

I am really enjoying this game! This has to be the best baseball game designed so far. Major improvement from 2K6 last year. Some minor adjustments needed though. For example, not enough camera angles. Some players are not realistic. Like El D pitcher on the Mets do not have his high leg kick when he pitch. But overall this is a excellent game.

This game is one of the best baseball games I have ever played. 2K7 did a fantastic job with the details of the players and they seem very realisitic. The ballparks look very realistic. I actually felt like I was at Yankee Stadium playing this game. The graphics are beautiful and the play is a lot of fun. I would recommend this game for young kids as well as older adults. My son is eleven and he has already beaten me a few times. This game is hot!
