Even better than the first one!

In the original Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong went on an adventure to try and get their mounds of bananas back, but this second adventure will be a bit different.

The Kongs' biggest villain, Kaptain K. Rool (a huge crocodile) has taken Donkey Kong as a hostage, so it's up to Diddy Kong and his girlfriend, Dixie Kong, to get him back.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a lot like Donkey Kong Country, except that it's even better. It didn't seem possible at the time for a 16-bit game, but this one has even better graphics than the original, better sound effects and music, and it's even more fun. There are new, helpful characters such as Wrinkly Kong (who saves your game), new animal buddies such as a snake with major hangtime, an awesome spider who has really got the science of web-making down to an art, and Rambi the rhino and Enguarde the swordfish are back and better than ever! Oh yeah, Dixie Kong is new too. She can twirl her head full of hair, which enables her to fight the force of gravity for a little while.

But what really makes Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest even better than the original is that it has more levels, and a lot more variety. There are even more secrets, more gameplay elements, and bigger and meaner bosses. When it comes to gameplay, the levels are more interactive, and there are a lot more things to collect and do. Instead of just collecting tons of bananas and extra lives (there's still a bunch of those waiting to be collected), there are 75 Kremcoins, a specially hidden DK coin in each level, and more, that gives this game unbelievable replay value.

Just like Donkey Kong Country, Diddy's Kong Quest is a 1-2 player game. You can play by yourself, or you can play with a friend in either competition mode or team mode.

In my book, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is the best game in the series, and not only is it one of the best games for the Super Nintendo, and one of the best platformers, it's one of the best video games of all time. If you liked the original, or if you like action/adventure games that never get old, I recommend getting Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. You will NOT regret it!

Excellent game!

In my opinion, this is the greatest of all the DKC games out there. A much better adventure, and two different endings. Not to mention the new Dixie Kong. She's probably the best character of all the DKC games. You can do more stuff, and there are many more levels to explore. Like "The Lost World" levels. Collect all 75 Kremkoins (You'll probably need a players guide for that), and you can get the alternate ending. You need to rescue DK. This is my favorite Final Boss fight in all the DKC games too. This was a thrilling game.

One of the best platformers for the SNES.

If it weren't for that stupid kid's negative review, the overall score would be a perfect 5. Looks like he's afraid of the challange. He's also scared of the music. I hate kid's reviews...

Graphics:10/10: A beautiful feast for the eyes. The graphics look better than the first!

Music:10/10: Great music! From the pirate-y music in the first world, to the spooky tune of Gloomy Gulch.

Sound:10/10: Just gotta love Diddy's monkey rap!

Gameplay:10/10: This time, you got Diddy and Dixie. They can now team-up and find secrets! You can also look for coins and get things such as hints, lost levels, or making Cranky like you!:) There is also a quiz from Swanky! You can save at the Kong Kollege, but make sure you carry some banana coins!

Overall, better than the first. Also, this game is going to be rereleased for the GBA later on! Buy it!

i bought donkey kong 2 from a differant place but its still the same game. dixie(the new girl charactor to replace the captured gorilla ) can fly and diddi( the small monkey also in first game) can roll jump . after me and my sister beat the game, it got boring. the levels are only exiting the first time . the graphics suprised me though;they are great for being a SNES game.it is better than the first game however, on second thought, much better than the first game! theres more than 50 level at least! overall, i geuss i give it four stars.buy this game, it gives you days of fun .

If I had one complaint about the first DKC game, it was that the game is too easy. This sequil obviously solves that problem. This game is brutally hard!

The graphics and music are top notch, thanks to RARE and Nintendo's ability to extract the most from the SNES's capabilities. Even by today's standards, these games are well above average.

DKC2 is very similar to the first one, with the exception of longer levils, more enemies, more secrets, and tougher bosses. The challenge is definitely worth it, since it will take even the most avid gamer (which I am not) a good length of time to complete it.

Well worth it. If you can get it, grab it.

I Was Surprised When I First Saw This Game

Three years ago my aunt and uncle was babysitting us and they rented this game.I loved it a whole lot,but after I beat "KROWS NEST",and "HOT HEAD HOP" I couldn't get 15 Kremcoins or beat the level after that.A few months later someone else that rented this game got it up to the third level in"krem Quay. My brother got it for christmas that year. About the game. This game has 50 levels. You can ride or transform into 7 anmials like Rambi,Squaks,Enguarde,Rattly,Squitter,Glimmer, and, clapper. Your mission is to rescue DK who was kidnapped by Kapt. K.rool by beating 5 bosses. This the sequal to Donkey Kong Country.I have the sequal to this game. -Rob Close 7/8/01

This game was awesome the music was so groovy and catchy and the new enimies were perfect too. perfect story diddy kong and his girlfriend dixie kong the new character are on a quest to rescue donkey kong who was kidnapped by king k rool and his crew. The levels were pretty rare and fun they have new animal friends like a snake and the spider. I enjoyed this game and it's a shame they don't make super NES's anymore mine still works very good but sometimes gets defective with faulty powering.

one of the best games ever

This game is exactly like Donkey Kong Land 2 (1996, GB), but the graphics are Super NES's best graphics. The levels are exactly the same, and so is some of the music. The graphics, have a 3-D appearance ( first used in 1994, Super NES games). Just like DK Land 2, saving is limited, you can only save at Kong Kollege, after finding 2 banana tokens. You can use Diddy Kong (cartwheel attack), or Dixie Kong (flying hairdo), and other members of the family as you go on. This game is for 6 years olds and older.

Best of all DKC's`

I love this game for the graphics, the music and the cool level design.

Definatly a challenge, trying to find all the DK coins and rescuing Donkey kong. I have completed most of the game and all of the kremling world. (ya know, the weird lookin place with the psychidellic volcano) I say this is definatly the best and always fun to play... now only if they would come out with it on a portable system...

Anyway, buy this game, its sure to delight.
