Good game in Beta we'll see what the real thing is like

I've enjoyed playing E&B for the last few weeks and I think it's a good game. A caveat on this game is that to play past the first month you will have to pay a monthly rate... I was unaware of this cost when I ordered the game but I think the gameplay is good enough that it'll be worth the monthly rate.

... I pre-ordered the game Sept. 1 and the game was officially released today (Sept. 24). According to Amazon I won't recieve the game (for a while). As someone who pre-ordered the game I was allowed to create a character that would carry over to the commercial release. Getting my retail copy ... after the official release means that the time I spent before the release won't really make a difference.

On top of that, the game is now being offered for ... less than when I purchased it. GRRRR!

Great game.

This game is really great. A 3d MMORPG world with a large host of systems to travel and my choices along the way. This game is a great buy... They offer free Demo CDS to be delivered to you home with a 5 day trial... i would suggest it.

Lag, Lag, and even more Lag

I was shocked when I read the reviews that nobody mentioned the terrible lag in this game. You will often wait 6-20 seconds for the game to acknowledge a command. this is not an isp/connection issue or a computer issue. If you log in for any length of time or you build a mid to advanced character, this will be the central topic of every conversation you hear and most of what you will experience. It also seems to matter little how many people are logged in. I have been on the servers when they are 15% full and still get terrible (I mean I can't tell what is going on in combat, and can't get the controls to respond if I could) lag.

You can read the rest of the reviews for a more complete picture of the game. But after playing for months, the key word of hundreds of conversations going on in this game, at anytime of day or night, is lag. Sometimes when the servers are empty, I have experienced blissfully lag free sectors of this game, but that is very rare. The biggest problem with this game right now is that you can not play it when you want to, but have to keep trying to see if the lag is so bad you can do any combat today or not. It is kind of like trying to run Win XP on a 486 computer...the hardware (or programing bugs) that backs this MMORPH is currently not up to the task.

...just not worth the monthy fee. The game sufferes from some pretty bad bouts of lag and once you have seen it all, there isn't much more to do. The missions are fly here, kill that. Go there and talk to this person. Very repetitive.

The graphics, however, are beautiful. The different parts of the galaxy are all works of art in their own right. That alone is enough to make someone pay the initial price and a few months of membership. After that, you'll probably move on.

I hope star wars galaxies will have more lasting value! :)

At the end of the year, there might be a emulator up and running. So you would need the game cd to play. I've seen it. So far it looks amazing. They will even tweek it for more balance. Also add the missing classes that EA left out at release. They have a website so just google it and see for your self. So far you can run around space stations and just sit in your ship outside.(no flying yet).

Nice way to spend time :)

I like this game. It has action and graphics .. and sound...
The story is in development and it's getting quite interesting what will happend next. Coming soon new classes are also exciting.
I have to agree that leveling after lvl75 becomes not easy and can bore you, yet not that much.
The biggest problem is this lvl150 limit. You can play after and you will get more levels, but at extrimely slow rate.
Rades are fun though..:)

Was good, now unplayable, buyer beware!

I loved this game, it was fantastic - "was" being the operative word. EA Games took the Earth and Beyond servers offline. As such if you buy this game, you can install the client, but you will not be able to play it: it requires an online connection to the servers to function. So, unless you're waiting for the completion of the fan-made emulator, this game will be absolutely useless. I hope you like boxes that take up space on your shelf, because that's all this is now. I guess you could use the discs as nifty space-themed coasters...
