I thought DF2 would bring more fun than DF1, but I am wrong.

DF2 could have been a lot more fun if Novalogic delayed the release date and thoroughly tested the game before shipping it to its DF hardcore gamers. Unlike DF1, DF2 is full of glitches. One example is you cannot stand up again after you lie down in the swamp in order to avoid being detected by the enemies. In other words, if you mistakenly (or intentionally) press the key to lie down in the swamp, you have to crawl until you find some solid grounds before you can stand up again. Until today, Novalogic has not released the patch to fix this problem.

Furthermore, if you have a 16-bit graphics card on your computer, don't buy this game until you get a 32-bit graphics card for your christmas present. you MUST have a 32-bit graphics card in order to be able to play this game and fully enjoy it.

Although I am very satisfied with Novalogic's DF1, I am very disappointed with its newly released DF2. now I have to wait for the patches before I can play DF2 again.

If you loved Delta Force 1, you'll love Delta Force 2.

When I bought Delta Force, I was immediately addicted to the multiplayer portion of the game. I really recommend this game to any gamer out there.

Slow but still Awesome

I first played Delta Force at my friend's house, and i loved it. So when I heard that NovaLogic was making a part two, I was really happy. The game has good graphics, fun levels, and the some of the best sound in any game I have ever played. I mean, you can hear excellent echo's, the wind is great, but the best part of the sound is the bullets. It really scares the crap outta you to hear bullets wizzing 2 inches past your head. If you dont live in an apartment, and your parents aren't home, turn the volume ALL THE WAY UP! It sounds like you're actually there. The one thing that this game gets critisized about the most is that it's really choppy. It's a real pain in the ass to try to use your scope. I really hope NovaLogic makes a patch for this. Anyways, this game is worth your money, especially if you like sniping, because most of the people you kill are 3/4 of a mile to a mile away from you. GET THIS GAME!

Against the flow

Rather like 'Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear', 'Delta Force 2' initially seems to be a slightly-massaged mission pack for the original 'Delta Force'. The graphics have been improved slightly, in that you now get to crawl through grass, and considerably more of the man-made scenery can be blown sky-high with a wider range of macho hardware, the but the actual gameplay boils down to long-range sniping, followed by close-range sniping, followed by grenades and a dash to the rescue chopper. Unfortunately for 'DF2', it isn't enough. Crucially, the voxel-based graphics engine, whilst perfect for long-range sniper-fests, is jerky and slow on anything less than a fast PIII. Whilst not unattractive, the graphics seem shoddily done, with buildings looking particularly nasty. It's a shame, really, as voxels seem to be the only way to display convincingly-detailed topography without curtailing the viewing range. The gameplay itself is hardly changed from the original, and becomes quiet monotonous after a while - the variety present in 'Rogue Spear' is missing here. All the original AI faults are back, too - the bad guys have a habit of dashing straight past you when they get up close, or running into walls and sticking there.

All in all, it's much the same as the original, and if you liked that, you'll like this - but only if you have a fast PC. It's important to stress this. On my 450mhz P2, the game juddered in 640x480 resolution, making it very hard to accurately aim, fire, and shift my aim to another target.

Good Military Game, but pretty violent

I am an avid military FPS player, and the Delta Force series is the best, I think. In Delta Force2 there are 45 or more missions that take place all around the world. The graphics are pretty good, but not as good as Delta Force Land Warrior. Although this game is teen, i think it should be mature, because it is very violent. On the box, it says "Mild Animated Violence." That is all wrong. When you shoot the terrorists, they scream and moan and sometimes crawl on the ground and make gurgling noises. Its pretty sick, and my mom didnt like it.Also, if you go to 3rd person view and shoot your teamates wirh a silenced weapon, you can hear the sickening "Put, Put" of the bullet hitting its target. Although it is violent, it is a very fun and sometimes frustrating game, but I highly reccomend it to military game fans.

Better than the Original

I bought the first Delta Force when it came out and i loved it. I was sure to get DF2 as soon as I could. Df2 is a very realistic tactical simulator: It only takes a couple of hits to kill you and the weapons are ver realistic. The bullets drop as they travel farther and wind can carry your bullet off course. However the enemies sill arent very smart.

Finally!

Finally I found a 3D commando soldier simulation with an interface that can be mastered in 2 minutes without sacrifizing realism.

I love it. The graphics, the gameplay, the missions, the controls and different objects, vehicles, weapons and so on.

Four stars seems a little bit cheap for this great game, but the fifth star is missing because I would have liked to see a greater variety of campaigns, for example with different identities/themes. But still it is worth every penny.

Why this isn't so bad of a game

If you buy Delta Force 2 as a realistic war game, you will be more than disapointed. There are many things wrong with the game, like being able to see a body lying on the floor above you. Also, the most annoying glitch is that enemies can often shoot you through solid objects.

Now that most of the bad stuff is out of the way, this is still an enjoyable game, as long as your not a tech freak who moans about every little thing not real. The single player in Delta Force 2 is for the most part enjoyable. The AI is rather stupid, so instead of hard AI you get lots ans lots of stupid AI. But, it is still good fun that strays away from the standard shoot anything that moves approach. There are many missions that you need to proceed unnoticed for a good amount of time. Also, if you try to run into an enemy base and kill things, you will die. You need to be able to snipe from a distance.

In the startup menu, you can select quick missions. These are about 20 unrelated missions that you dont need to play lengthy campaighns to get to.

Now for the best part of this game and the reason you should buy it, the multiplayer. The Multiplayer is very good, with standard type games like deathmatch, team deathmacth, king of the hill, and several more. You can play LAN or via Novaworld. Novaworld is very reliable and most games run smoothly. Multiplayer takes away stupid AI and gives you a difficult challenge. Multiplayer maps give benifits to all types of players by providing sniper nest, bunkers, buildings, and mounted weponry. Muliplayer is really a fun experience.

Delta Force 2 is a good game overall. The glitches that occur are ones that look bad visually, but i haven't had any gameplay errors at all. If you freak out about small things, you probably wont like this game, but for the rest of us, this is a great game and is worth buying.

AARRGGHH!

I think that if you have a super-fast PC, and you dig this stuff, get a demo. I don't have a 32 MB video card, so the frame rates were very choppy. I'm just pissed. I'm going to return it ASAP and get something else.

Umm, wtf

(. . .) The graphics are less than mediocre, internet play is nearly impossible with the lag. Plus there are so many cheaters, it makes it horrible. Plus if you have pre- Pentium 3, you'll encounter this uncontrollable error that you can only fix by Disabling NETBIOS. The other opinions are probably from people paid by Novalogic. Bottom Line- Don't buy this, buy something half-decent like Rainbow-Six, or R6-Rogue Spear. Hope this honesty helps.
