Of all the MMORPG's I've played, this by far is the worst. The graphics are a let down, battle control is sluggish, its difficult to find your way around, game control in general just plain out sucks. The tutorial has some confusing parts in it that leave it a bit difficult to figure out how to end it and get on with the game. When you do get going on the game, it is confusing and a bit demeaning to any true gamer that knows what a good game looks and feels like. Go buy Worlds of Warcraft or City of Hero's

FUN

To the people that play EQ1, this game is meant for fun and playing games is a way to go into your own world and waste up extra time. People that played EQ1 complain about there being no transfer from 1 to 2. Well, even know you worked so hard on 1 you know you played it for the fun and you know that EQ2 will be even more fun. Stop writing poor reviews that contradict what you really believe. Just leave EQ1 and come to EQ2 you know it will be better.

Just beacuase SOE now uses EQ which is old as a money machine does not mean that EQ2 will also suck.If you research it on eqlounge.com you will find alot of info and great stuff. SOE put effort into this one in order to defend their company against Blizzard's upcomming World of Warcraft

Have you Played EQLive? Then you'll HATE this game.

So I've been playing EQ for three years. That's apparently my first mistake. I grew bored with EQ after the first year and a half and stuck around ideling for another year and a half while I figured out what I was going to do with my gaming time.

That's when EQII was released and I was excited! WOOT.

Now as guild leader and group leader in most cases, this game is tedious at best. There is nothing challenging about clicking the same buttons over and over again. Everything I hated about EQLive has only been multiplied here.

From what I've been told from my 45 guild members is this... if you've never played EQLive then you will love this game. So that statement I will stick by.

... now i need to find another game to play /cry

EQ2 failed me a lot

Bad graphics. I really expected much more with the extreme high system requirements.
Bad user interface. Quest-related items and NPCs appear same as normal ones. So u have to EXAMINE everything, have to TALK with every NPC. And there is no instant tips for items. So u rely heavily on the EXAMINE command, but it's hard to use - {EDIT} I just wasted my money. It's not cheap.

Lots of fun

This game is surprisingly complicated and intricate yet easy to play. I enjoy it immensely. I love the combination of warrior and magic of the characters.

When i was antisapating this offering i was invisoning soloablity, on level loot, useable equipable items from drops and within the confines of playing the game NORMALY i would achieve basic equipment of what my toon needs in order to progress and be a good group partisapator

What i discovered was, quest mostly drops. When completing the quests you don't get a choice of items.

After 20 the game changed completely for me without having the needed items i had to have to partisapate fully and well within a group.
On my server apprentice 3 spells went for gold instead of silver. Most fighters did there best trying to get basic stuff let alone paying for spells as well.

The group folks had the ablity to examine your toon, if they did not think your equipment was "up to snuff" they would tell you and not group with you.

In thundering steeps a place for ac 3 armor quests groups fell so many times folks were heard saying it's just not worth it.

The groups become more and more picky about who they let in. This is also due to experaince debt. Its a little number that if your group dies you share in there price of the death.

But say the tank drops first the group gets a chest, tank is still not resed then the "lotto for the chest goes to yep, someone else......

Long about 20 ish the lfg became longer and longer process and soloablity became less and less scarce. Most mobs in thundering steeps had "group over them" and only at the entrance were there a few bettals or hawlks.

So if you do not mind waiting for groups, and spaming /ooc chat lfg and realizing that solo play will not bring tangable rewards, then this game is for you.

Other caution the only way to sell goods ( rather crafter or drops) is litterly in your inn room starting at a bulliten board not being able to do anything else. So the avaible goods that one could find in other offerings for there toons ibit bazzar or npcs, or auction houses at anytime is very limited to when buyers can stare mindlessly at a bulliten board with shop "open"

Postives;
graphcis good music good sound good, talking npcs good
game mechanics of mobs having group solo leaves the mystery of the "pull" gone
only buffs in group questionable, questing is the way to get useable loot
Market broker system worst design i have ever seen yet

More trash from SOE

Screen shoots taken with even high end video cards make the game look like it is a lowsy claymation, the characters, monsters and world look like they dont go together (diffrent styles of work, nothing matches) and the user interface simply does not exist (they put icons on a top black border, like the ones you see watching a wide screen movie on a normal tv). SOE has had its day in the sun, which they completely ruined for themselves, ...

Verant and Sony: Customers demand a a better MMORPG

Well well... sadly, EQII looks like nothing more but a graphical advance and new material for a online RPG. Nothing here looks ground-breaking. Another online RPG that you spend loads and loads of time in, hence "Evercrack" -- the leveling grind is back, or will be in some form. Sure, new races, new classes, new graphics... but the over all point of the game is the same. Spend time, get more powerful, get better stuff, kill NPCs or people. Wow, the gaming community is thrilled at your originality here.

I've always been a fan of these types of games, even though the time spent/invested has been a bit harsh for someone that tries to lead a normal life. Sooner or later, the gaming community will get to a point where they don't pay and play these games unless the company puts an effort in for originality and actually cares for the customer.

Sadly, you will not find this in EQ2. Horizons was the closest thing to this, but slowly they are being converted into just another run of the mill online RPG.

So, please, know what you are getting into before you buy EQ2 or any game like it. It is not a game you can play casually and be very successful at. As a customer, I demand a better product than what this will provide. If you have the same feelings as me, please avoid EQ (and Star Wars Galaxies, for that matter, which is EQ in a Star Wars environment pretty much) -- but if you truely have fun playing these games, than go for it.

/rant off ;)

One thing stops me and a large base of people from playing this game: NO PvP, and my understanding no plans for PvP at least for a while
