Awesome game

It all comes down to this....you have to get this game. It's such a good price, spend the cash get the game, and sit at your computer playing this for the rest of your life.

there is ONE and only ONE problem with this game, SOME of the cinematics are black and white cartoons, not 3-D models.
you can do so much with this game, controls are a bit tough to master at first, but once you have them down pat, you won't stop playing. the gameplay is 3-D, which isn't what you would expect for such a price, the graphics are exelent. this is the first space strategy game to demonstrate the vastness of space, your open to all new flanking tactics now, lure your enemy some where, then come down on top of him. anyone who has seen star trek II the wrath of khan will enjoy doing things like that....

basically, you have this one, lare command ship, and throughout the game you upgrade it, you research new weapons, armor and other technologies. build fighters in your command ship, or build larger ships on the outside, like a carrier(for your fighters), or destroyer ect. i recomend this game to anyone who has a computer, and a remote intrest in any strategy games. This game will knock your socks off!

Hmmmm....

Well, it's not bad, I'll say that. The problem is when I got my new PC with WinXp the game doesn't work right. The models are not visible and the menus are unreadable. Something's wrong and I don't know what. However, the price is right and the game is fair enough. It didn't stay on my old machine, but Homeworld did... Overall, Homeworld just seems more open-ended in that your imagination seems or engaged in each battle with each map in the original game, not just another duel with The Beast...

Not bad...

I purchased this game with thought that it might have a wider ship diversity, and was totally right. There are tons of new ships and different weapons/upgrades. This is a slightly better game compared to Homeworld. Some things that are worse is that if your gl link(I'm computer literate and don't have a clue what this means) is non-compatable and you aren't using a windows 95/98 computer you have to download a patch from the sierra website, do this anyway because it took me about 4 hours of messing around with the game before I found this!! Another thing is if you like using the multiplayer and are using the Beast ships you are totally outgunned. I've gone into a battle with 12 ion ships and 2 heavy cruisers against a Dreadnought and lost every thing but the cruisers. Other than that, it is a great game and I can't wait for Homeworld 2 to come out.

Awesome

This is seriously one of the best computer games that I have ever played. The game takes a lot of startegy and takes awhile to learn but once you get going it's terrific. You are given a mission or multiple missions to complete during a progress campaign to stop the Beast enemy from wiping out all who stand in their way. Playing the game at harder and harder difficulty levels makes every mission all the more challenging to complete. The graphics are incredible, especially considering that this is hardly a new game. Everything looks realistic, from the phasers and torpedoes to the ships fading in and out as they move farther away from the viewing camera. Controlling an entire battle fleet is a challenge, but the controls are easy to use and fighting battles on three or four different fronts at the same time is not difficult. This game will be a lot of fun to everyone who enjoys strategizing and engaging in massive space battles.

Best of the series!

At first look this game really only adds a few ships, gives some new technology and improves the graphics slightly, but once you play into the single player you'll see how truly amazing it is.

The single player storyline is certainly the highlight and reason this game is so magnificent. It retains the general 3d feel of the first Homeworld game and it's nice to see a few of the original vessels in there, while it also adds a good few new technologies which are very fun to use. The storyline is perfectly laid out with the drama of every single second a mission is played clearly giving an impact.

This game is a lot like the first, but what makes it the best has to be the story. Brilliant fun and good for people appreciating a nice mix of action and story.

even better than the first.

home world cataclysm takes place some years after the completion of the first home world which means you now have your home planet back and your people are no longer on the run and everything about it is even better than the first truly awsome.
