beauty and the pig: no happy ending

I absolutley hate this game. My younger sister got a GBA with it for christmas, ever since then, I was more annoyed than a policeman seeing someone break the law. Terrible music, terrible storyline etc................ I find this 110 times more annoying than "BMX XXX" on x-box, or even "Grand theft auto: vice city" on PS2.

GOOD PARTS: There is a fox that steals things from dora in it!

BAD PARTS: Just about everything else, without exception

OVERALL: Which "game based on a cartoon" should you get? This or "hey arnold: the movie" ? Easy: "cubix robots for everyone: clash 'n' bash"

Mom of 2 gamers Love this game!

My (almost 5 year old) daughter LOVES this game and so do her father and I! I sat for a bit and played and I have to say, its a great game. My daughter loves playing it and I think the best part is, she can make a mistake and start over at a certain point...but she never "dies". With littler children, it gets frustrating when they "die" and have to start over.

The educational value I put at 4 because it really isn't except using spanish words in some parts.

The graphics however are awesome. It looks EXACTLY like the show in the still shots and the gaming part is VERY close. Closer than I've ever seen in any other game.

This is by far the best game I've found for my daughter yet.

This is a must buy. (For any Dora-lover or parent with younger gaming children)

Dora gameboy -- not for little ones

I purchased this for my 4 year old, incorrectly assuming that since Dora is a show aimed at preschoolers/young school-agers that this game would be easy. It is not. In fact it took me (a 30-something adult) nearly 6 hours to complete the whole game. It is very challenging, requiring Dora to climb trees and leap over water - which much be done with precision or you will fall, and avoid smakes, bats, crocodiles, crabs and rainstorms. At each of Dora's stops (and there are 7 or so) on her way to Treasure Island, she must complete 3 different searches. There are over 25 different searches that you must complete; at Treasure Island you must go through another 3-5 searches before getting to the treasure. Dora must also access the backpack and use certain objects to help her -- or she will be sent back to start over. My 7.5 year old was also frustrated with this game. Don't think this one was a good choice...

I did my homework and read the reviews others wrote about Dora Explorer - The Search for Pirates Pig Treasure. I must say they were right on! When I brought the game home for by just turned 5 year old son his comment was - That's a baby game! We sat down and I explained that if he could get past the 5th or 6th level I would buy him a better game. He has been enthralled ever since! It's not a macho boys game. There is no killing, hitting, or weird characters. It's a simple game that a 5 year old can master with limited help from Mom and Dad! Buy this one for your younger child and don't worry about the "image". Oh, my 8 year old daughter keeps trying to "borrow" it as well.

Great Game for even a 3 Year Old!!

We bought our daughter a Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas 2003, and she had just turned 3. We bought several games to go with it, such as "Spirit", "Nemo", and "Muppets-On With the Show". But the Dora game is the best, she played all the way through with very little difficulty and only asked for help a couple times, I was impressed! Nemo is pretty good for her, but she has only mastered two of it's levels, but this one is just amazing and keeps her interested for a very long time. If you're looking for games for your 3 year old, like I am, this one is definitely the one. If you have any suggestions for other games that I can buy for my 3 year old, please e-mail me!

My six year old son is a little hesitant to play games with "bad guys" and first thought the flying bats, alligators and crabs were scary. But once we found out he could simply make Dora crawl passed the bats and hop over the others, he was very happy about the game.
This game is just right for young kids because it has some challenges which aren't too difficult; and the automatic saves of each game level gives kids the opportunity to play the various levels over at any time. One added bonus about the save codes is that kids can draw the different images for each saved level and input the codes by themselves.
My son did need help occasionally when he had to find certain items, but, overall, he didn't need much help. As my son would say, the game is great fun.

Dora is great. The graphics are very good on GB advance. The story is true to the show. Kids know the characters so they liked it immediately. I bought it for my 5 yr old girl who has never played video games before and she liked it right away. Its a standard side scrolling game that is easy to control. This is a great way to start video gaming as some Nintendo titles can frustrate small childern. My 4 and 6 year old boys like this game also.

This game is a nice game to have a for a younger kid

My daughter (4years old) got this game. What i liked about it is that since there really aren't too many games for younger children i figured Dora is for preschoolers. It's a good game. Althought she has a little trouble making the jumps and sometimes gets mada cause she can't,it's part of the game. Video Games are meant to have a challange in them. She is pretty good and now i must say trips in the car are pretty nice :)I would say if you have a younger child that other games might be too hard for them and they would like something of their own for gameboy Dora is for you

Excellent game for younger children!

This game is great. It has excellent graphics and is a lot of fun to play. A little challenge for the younger gamer (my son is 5) but not too challenging that it will lose their attention. This game is great for the 1st timer.

Excellent buy!

We got this game for my 5 year old daughter. She hasn't put it down since Christmas. She loves the game. I think it is challenging enough for her with the jumping and so forth. The only downfall, because it is geared for younger children, is that the story should be spoken out loud instead of the words being there and if they don't know how to read, they don't know what they are saying. Other than that, my daughter loves it so it was a good buy!
