Leaves you scratching your head

This game was enjoyable up until the very end. The fact that it explained almost nothing leading up to the conclusion is irksome. The clues are blatant and I knew who the killer was halfway through the game. I think I would have enjoyed this game a lot more had it pieced the plot and subplots together. As it is, I ended the game with a lot more questions than answers and an unsatifactory feeling that I wasted my time. The ending was entirely too quick, and honestly I was expecting much more.

Could have been five stars, but they made two big mistakes

Black Mirror has a fascinating story, fair to good graphics, a wonderfully creepy atmosphere, and some fun, challenging puzzles. Unfortunately, the designers made two very big mistakes. First, they included several points at which you must wait a set amount of time for an NPC to perform a certain task in order for the story to advance, which often means a lot of walking around with nothing to do while you wait for the alloted number of minutes to tick off. Second, and most importantly, they gave the game a horribly rushed and incoherent ending. This last flaw is especially annoying, as a good mystery absolutely must have a good ending--one that ties all threads together and leaves everything satisfactorily explained. When you finally learn the identity of the murderer, your head is swimming with questions that never get answered, and you're ultimately left with a very bad taste in your mouth.

I hope I speak for others as well as myself. We are tired of having to repeat things over and over in our games before we can go forward in the game.! This really takes away the whole mood of the game.Once or twice to ask questions is enough times, anything more you have lost the mood again. There is no need to touch everything to continue on,why do you do this ? I was so disapointed after waiting so long for this game. The upside is, the special effects are wonderful, the rain and thunder are like you are there. The locations are beautiful.

Great fun!

This game was fun and had an interesting story, although it was a bit bizzare at times! :) The only thing I didn't like about the game was when the character had to "come back later" and you found yourself killing time and returning several times before you got your next answer! I also was not too happy about having to click both left and right in some cases to get a response, but all in all I enjoyed the game a lot.
I would recommend it wihtout question.

I 've played over 500 adventure games. And usually, only the very old ones are actually fun. This game is highly atmospheric, very nice plot, great sound & graphics.
A few minor bugs will not disturb your pleasance. It was one of the few newer adventures I played continuously without a walkthrough.

Highly recommended.

At last .. A good adventure game ..

The adventure gaming genre has been sufferring since the introduction of 3D Graphics .. everybody was into action games where development is easy via Engines and where more 3D can be implemented for show-off..

Since long, we didn't have a good adventure game .. If you are an adventure gamer, go ahead for this game ..

The only drawback here is that the graphics are a bit outdated.. The backgrounds are nice but the moving objects are pure 2D .. which isn't meant for 21st century !!

Couldn't stop playing it

I could not stop playing this game. When I wasn't playing it, I was thinking about it. The graphics were great and with so many places to be able to travel to, I did not get bored at all. You get to meet all kinds of different people with detailed and distinct personalities. I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone who loves a great mystery game!!!

I loved this game, and I have played several Adventure Games. It has the right amount of everything. You get interaction with characters. Puzzels, hunting for clues and putting items together. Story is very well played out, and the spooky factor gives it plenty of interest all the way thru. Would recommend this game to anyone.

Very Good Game with Only A Few Annoyances

This is one of the few adventure games that I played twice, and the second time was just as much fun as the first (although the first time I played it was a year ago).

The game is creepy and mysterious and the ending was surprising. All through the game, anyone could be a suspect so it keeps you guessing.

This is a 3rd person, point & click adventure with a few good puzzles. Black Mirror had a good balance of both, although most of the inventory puzzles had to do with finding a way to unlock doors or chests. The puzzles were challenging and fun but not extremely difficult (like Still Life).

Graphics and ambience was of good quality and the voice acting was pretty good too. The only annoyance was Samuel's (protagonist) snobby personality. I wanted to like the main character, but it was really hard to do that. Despite his prissiness, he didn't have a problem slipping a mickey on someone or swiping a few tools though.

The other minor annoyance was that Samuel could be killed in a few scenes, but man, did they have to make it so extreme? Like in one part, he got his head chopped off and in another, a spear through it.

Also, I could see no logical reason for having to right click on some things and left click on others. It made the game a little confusing at first, until I figured it out.

Other than that, I recommend it. It's better than most of the adventure games on the shelf right now so if you pick this one, you probably won't be disappointed.

Like most current adventure games, it ends a little hastily and you might not like it (what's up with all these bad endings in games anyway? i.e. Jack the Ripper, Still Life, etc.)

Awesome game/storyline... unsatisfying ending.

The Black Mirror is definitly on the top of my list of games I love. The moody atmosphere, the beautiful backrounds and haunting sounds all make for a gloomy but beautiful gaming experience. There are, however, flaws.
The ending is horrible. You're ever more interested in what is about to happen next, when, BAM, all of a sudden, it's over.

I was more horrified at the end of this game then I have been horrified while playing any horror game!

The cut scenes aren't all that great visually, which made me wish they weren't even in the game at all. And the dialogue is sometimes... stiff.

BUT. Don't let this turn you away from playing The Black Mirror. It's a gaming experience I still think of fondly, and I am still hanging onto some hope that the company who made The Black Mirror will come out with a sequal explainining what the hoo happens next.

To summerize: Beautiful and moody, but with a dissapointing end.
