I have really enjoyed playing this adventure game. It is challenging and has kept me interested. I love the dark
moods and the graphics are great! I would really recommend this
game to any of my fellow adventure gamers.

Entertaining

I really liked this game. It took pleanty of time to play and the locations and graphics were good. The game got bogged down sometimes on how many times you had to go away and come back to the same person to move on, but all and all it was worth the time and effort. I hated the ending and really felt ripped off after investing alot of time into the main character I wanted some kind of redemption and continuation of the Gordon family line without the curse. I would have rated it higher if we found out why and how some of the people were killed and if the ending was better.

Need to rely on the walkthrough too much.

A fun game. More violent that I like, but I should have know with the M rating. This is my second Adventure Company game. I feel that one needs to check the walk through too often. There is no way for the game player to know what needs to be done without it. I can only compare it to the Nancy Drew games where you can use your head to keep the game going. Still fun to play, just be sure to print out the walk through and check it when you get stuck.

Pretty creepy....fun play

The game has amazing atmosphere and truly creepy music. It does have the notable defect of a slow moving character and that the conversations are a bit stilted. If you can overlook the pace/tone of the conversations and the slow speed of the character as he walks in several places in the game, the plot is truly ingenious. You will never be able to guess the motive of death and the ending of the game. It is truly worth a try is you are an adventure game lover, or think you might turn out to be one.

The Gordon Gore

This game really kept me going. Loved the outdoor graphics. Since I live in southern California, I especially liked the rain falling during the day. Some of this is very sad because of who dies. There was only one puzzle that I didn't really understand, so I went to a cheat.

In this game we always see the protagonist, who sometimes shows a sense of humor in his antics. Lovely sites. Lots of cemetaries. Loved going to the pub.

My main complaint is Chapter 6. Looking back, I question some of the logic of the game. All I can do is to chalk it up to the supernatural. The final catacombs was a lot of fun. I think I got killed about 5 times before I finally got it right. My favorite was falling down an abyss.

The final scene of the game is my biggest gripe.

However, for an engrossing, bloody, murderous, creepy game with lots and lots of things to do...then you will love it. You might even give it more than 3 stars. My highest grade would be 3.25.

Starware wars

I had a difficult time getting past the security features, which had a negative impact on my use of the product. For one, instead of having a single access code, there were four. The idea was to enter each until the correct code was entered. As luck would have it I had to try them all, each of which took about ten minutes to check. As it would turn out this was the most difficult puzzle in the game! The Starware continued to cause problems each time I loaded the game. Sometimes, the game would not load at all, at other times it loaded quite slowly. I know that my copy was legitimate and personally would never make copies, and so I was resentful that I was given such stingy access to the software.

Despite these technical difficulties, I did enjoy the game. While it was difficult to relate to the somewhat cranky main character and to rally behind his mission, the story line was engaging enough to keep me playing. The one drawback was that the dialog was fairly tedious. I found that the characters moved and talked too slowly and that oftentimes, I would have to needlessly and repeatedly speak to characters in order to unlock certain aspects of the game. This was rather frustrating. The puzzles were interesting and even fun, but could have been more difficult (1 puzzle was completely random, grumble...grumble). The controls were fairly easy-- that is if you remember to use the right click button on certain objects. What set this game apart for me and what kept me playing were the graphics. I loved the atmospheric settings and genuinely enjoyed looking at the game.

Not for the impatient adventurer....

I bought this game a while ago but just finished it. It is the first time I have played a game where the point is not to kill things but to puzzle things out, and I really enjoyed that. The puzzles were fun and not so terribly challenging that I couldn't find the answer after a thorough look around, but a few were definitely "creative." The atmosphere of the game is spooky; good graphics and music. Yes, the dialogue got a little stilted, but oh well. I too was a bit disappointed by the ending, but perhaps there is a Black Mirror II in someone's dusty bottom drawer at The Adventure Company?

It's cool

Hello,

I think you should give this game a shot. I only started playing it because I got it as a gift. At first it seemed annoying because of redundant lines in the dialogue & the accent & a few other details. BUT, it turns out to be a cool game AND it has a pretty good story line.
A lot of other games and movies have a good premise but they don't take advantage of it & they ruin it. This one, surprised me with the story line.
Give it a shot!

Disappointing overall

For one thing, the anti-piracy block used on this game made it impossible for me to install it on my computer with Vista, even with loads of tech support, etc. I ended up playing it on a friend's (older) computer and half the graphics were blurred.

Aside from the technical difficulties, I must admit at times I enjoyed this game for the most part. The problems, though, are too numerous to overlook, and I won't be playing it again. It's too slow and plodding as others have pointed out, and I got tired of hearing the same tired phrases over and over "Robert, may I speak to you a moment? I have something I wish to talk to you about?" Substitute the name of any character for "Robert" each time you wanted to inquire of someone. It got monotonous, and there were times I stopped playing it altogether for a week or two.

I wasn't as disappointed with the ending as some people were. Perhaps, though, I was just glad to get it over with finally.

Very good

I just wanted to add my rating. It is very fun, and I think the best part was that it was like watching a horror movie. I always turned the lights off because it gave me that "spooky" feeling... There is a lot of gameplay.
