TrueCrime:Streets Of L.A. was not as good as i thought it would be,I thought it would beat Grand Theft Auto:Vice City when it was my favorate there is only 3 games that beat GTA:Vice City and they are GTA:San Andreas,Driver 3(DRIV3R) & The GetaWay 2:Black Monday.Mafia and TrueCrime:SOL.A. are just rubbish compared to these.It still had good points like arresting people and you can get cops after you even though you are a cop just by doing the dirty on the streets lie head shots,killing people,blowing up cars killing police men while they are in persuit and they come with heavy guns.another good thing is the exact same game is on MS XBox and Nntdo GameCube.When it comes to guns its like The GetaWay 1(Which is older and is also a better game you can not hold every gun you find and put them in magic trousers like in GTA games& Driver 3 instead when your gun runs out you drop it and take your pistols out.The missions were boring but all lead to different ends also you could learn some kick butt moves like Karate`.
OVERALL:This game was good but no matck for the GTA,The GetaWay or Driver games
P.S. I heard there is a new game coming out called TrueCrime:New York City thats all i know and its comin` out for PS2,GC & XB i hope that lives to most of the hype and gets it self along the best yet 3 games(GTA:SA,The GetaWay:Blk Mndy & Driver 3)
REMEMBER! rent,lend or temporaly swap any game before buy,even on bestsellers like GTA,Driver or Getaway y` never know you might not like them and this goes for any game thats made.

i think this game is freakin awsum. altho the story gets weird near the end i think its worth 20 buks and the city is freakin huge i like the cars and the ability to search people

I saw the ad for "True Crime" on tv and thought "Wow! that looks good!" Sadly, I was wrong. While the game fosters a simialar standpoint; a crime based setting in a huge city, with free roaming capabilities, questionable language, and an affinity for conducting immoral establishments, it falls short of it's model older brother, GTA3/Vice City. I'll start with the good stuff. The city is HUGE, the largest city I've ever seen and been able to drive around in on my tv (240 square miles! thats 153,600+ acres!), though sadly the city and you only interact through missions and at certain points, like driving missions and the street crimes, which account for most of the replay value. The cutscenes are good, and the voiceacting by Christopher Walken and others is sharp. The over all feel of the game is lessened by the driving physics. driving feels like ice skating on asphalt at times, and the tires squeal a bit even when you're changing lanes. Shooting and aiming both meet the standard for most games. It took me TWO days to beat it, all 3 endings, all missions. The soundtrack is annoying at best, (only 8 or so of the "50+" tracks are on the radio) and the worst songs seem to show up more often than the better songs. The game goes to heck in a handbasket when, out of the blue, IN A "TRUE" CRIME GAME, you fight ZOMBIES, DEMONS AND A DRAGON. That is equivalent to having a timeout in a football game, such as Madden, to give a shark triple bypass. The controlls are functional, but not great (since when does triangle look behind you, while L1 gets you into and out of a car?). The story is way too short, falling victim to the design of small missions, much like the matrix game. No missions twist or change during their own cource, and only do so by going to the next mission, making the entire plot segmented and bitesized, centered not wholly around the game, as GTA, but more or less around the cutscenes. In conclusion, if you want True Crime, borrow from a freind who's bored with it, because it's too short it might take a week to beat, so he'll have it back soon enough.

Most gamers expect a gta style experience from True Crime. True Crime is both better and worse then vice city. true crime covers a larger area, 240 square kilometers, it also has better graphics. The game is A LOT more realistic, except for the dragon and demon part. Overall, the game takes about 5 hours to beat. Its also ok to pass missions and come back later or fail them altogether. U don't just get stuck like sometimes in v.c. The street crime stuff is relatively fun. There is a wide range of different crimes u have to stop, making it interesting. The game is has a wide range of different cars. Its fun and i would suggest buying it.

This game is very good but lets face it, it is a rip off of Grand Theft Auto:Vice City. that is probably the worst thing in this game. Another thing bad about this game has horrible controls, and the music is all rap and rap sucks,but it does do the combat, graphics, andit has bulletime so that makes it interesting. Overall, this game is worth getting if you don't own Vice City. Take my word for it.

To a person who likes action games with some slow mode, some cool cars, and an alright soundrack, not to mention a gay freaking ending.....this games for you. When I started playing this game I was enjoying myself(even though the levels were easy as hell) I got to drive a round riping off cars and frisking people at random. I thought the soundtrack was o.k. a couple of songs got you into the mood to beat the living crap out of people, and others were just messed up. I could even dismiss the guns having unlimited ammo. I figured the ending would be some showdown between me and some drug lord.....BIG MISTAKE....I end up fighting a dragon and some floating heads....well there was an upside to the end which was me doing some kung fu with two chicks in really,really tight clothes. That was about the only thing from stoping me from giving this game a one. Also the pimped out 69 camaro was pretty cool. But everything else sucks ballsac. Unless your one of the people I mentioned in the starting I don't recommend this game. Well, I guess I should say rent it just to try it and see what you think. OOh and I almost forgot, the whole issue about this game being like gta...well the only similarity is the stealing cars part everything else is different.......I didn't say better I said different. The gta games are definately better, but the graphics are more realistic than gta(then again the gta games are supposed to be cartoony.) Well see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's obvious that a lot of this game was inspired by the success of the Grand Theft Auto games. It's also obvious that a lot of work went into the game. Yet somehow, it still falls short of the games it tries to surpass.

The graphics in this game seem a bit cleaner than Vice City.. There's no blurry movements, there's no slowdown, the character models look impressive. The car models are somewhat lacking in detail, until you smash them up. Seems they gain more character when they're nearly on fire.

The sound in the game is quite good. Character voices are well done, and while I'm not a fan of the soundtrack, the music fits the theme of the game. The speech of people on the street when you run past them, pull out your guns, or punch them in the face is entertaining, and takes a while to get boring. The downside to the sound, however, is some of the main character's dialogue becomes repetetive and boring somewhat quickly.

The gameplay is an interesting side of the game. If you play through the story mode, you can get bored somewhat quickly. The real fun of the game is playing with friends, "borrowing" cars, and causing trouble.

Not a Grand Theft Auto, but a totally new franchise thats for sure. Instead of the criminal, you're the cop and it is your job to save L.A. Not that the streets of L.A. are actually this bad (I recommend people who actually live in L.A. should buy this), but it is a fun frenzy as you go on crazy attempts of becoming a good/bad cop. You lead the way, it's your choice, get out there.

i havent played this game yet, but by, i dunno, disyphering the past reviews i got this game is ment to be a GTA 3 spoof, but it isnt, and instead delivers on a different level, allthough it has low gameplay, it is fun, and afterwoods you get to drive around stopping crime!
The all rap soundtrack wont be good, i, myself, dislike rap, greatly, it wouldve been good to have some rock, and some chatter-box like talkshows, the unlimited ammo sounds good, but it might get boring.
The main problem with this game seems to be some dragon youve gotta fight, sounds kinda strange to me, i dont think thatll be that fun, and a whole undead level? WTF? I cant say im all that amped about the snoop dog characted, but who knows, mabey hell have a bit more beef in the game?
No rocket launcher?! nooooooo!Mega bummer.
Ive heard that the cars'll be really cool and stuff, but no motor cycles??!! that'll suk, im glad GCN's finally gettin a GTA like title, weve missed out on Tthe GTA games, even tho the GCN is all-round better then the PS2, and it pisses me of, mabey this game will open up rockstar gamings eyes! who knows?
in short, im gonna get this game, cause im addicted to GTA
