I really enjoyed the vast majority of the contents of this game. The graphics were relatively good and the realism levels were high. This is quite a light adventure and role playing game and the thing I love about it is that you get to explore the castle, the groungs etc. at your own pace. I do not recommend this to very experienced gamers, unless you are huge Harry Potter fans (you will probably find it too easy, even easier than the first Harry Potter game). Best bit of it all is that it stays with the book's plot, without necessarily making the game boring. So, if you're bored during the summer, not knowing where to go or what to do, I say BUY THIS GAME FOR A GOOD TIME!!!!!!!!! Trust me, you will like it...

Fairly good...a bit tiring after a while

I bought this and The Philosopher's Stone, and let me tell you that this is better than that. I enjoyed playing this quite a bit, but I found that it was good for a one-time use only, a bit like toilet paper.
However I can assure you that in that one time you play it, you'll be greeted by numerous quests for potions, spells and other such knick-knacks. Good for a time-pass! I recommend it to anyone who likes Harry Potter and role-playing games.

A Great Game for Potter fans

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a great game. You get to ride on a broom and learn magic spells. You also collect wizard cards and solve puzzles. It's hours of delightful fun.

I LOVE this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"This is awesome" I keep saying to myself. The SLYTHERIN common room is as cool as the WHOMPING WILLOW. It has zero problems and is long and hard. Level 2 (Snapes potion chamber) is really fun!

This is Truly a Great Game!

After being greatly disappointed with the "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone" game, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with "The Chamber of Secrets". However, to my surprise, this second game in the series was truly awesome! Nearly all of the issues/problems I had with the first game had been rectified, plus there were lots of wonderful additions to how this game is played.

In "The Chamber of Secrets", you once again play the character of Harry Potter. There are 3 main goals to this game - first, find the chamber of secrets; second, defeat the basilisk; third, collect (or buy) enough silver wizard cards to open the door to the gold card challenge; and fourth, win the house cup (which is based on how many points you earn during quiddich matches & various spell challenges).

There are lots of places to explore in this game & many, many hidden/secret rooms & passageways. As you learn new spells, you'll want to go through the grounds & Hogwarts Castle looking for anything out of place - it's these areas that you'll want to try your spells on (these things can include bricks that are a bit off, mirrors, statues, pictures, cracks in the wall, etc...).

Be sure to collect as many Bertie Botts Beans as you can - this is currency at Hogwarts. You can use your beans to purchase bronze & silver wizard cards, quiddich gear, and the various items used to heal wounds. A great way to earn lots of "beans" is to duel people over & over again. In order to duel, you have to wager a certain number of beans, depending on who you'll be competing against. If you win, you get your beans back, plus that same amount from your competitor.

There are so many things that I like about this game. The graphics are excellent (especially the moving staircase); the voice-overs are first-rate; it's set up so that you can go back and re-play quiddich matches as well as re-do all the challenges - if you do better, you get more house points; and there are lots of great places to explore.

The only thing I didn't like about this game is that you have to exit out completely in order to go check a walkthrough (or do anything else on your computer) and, when you do exit out, it takes a while to get back in.

In case you'd like to consult a walkthrough (which I suggest, even if you just read the tips), there are several good ones at "gamefaqs".

One tip that I learned the hard way is this: when someone tells you that the house points ceremony is about to begin, check to make sure that you have more points than anyone else. If you don't, go play (or replay) some quiddich matches to increase your score &/or go re-do one or more of the challenges - if you do better at this, you'll be awarded more points.

The reason the house points ceremony is so important is that if Gryffindor wins, you get to go into the "bean room" for a specified period of time & collect as many beans as you can. And, since the beans are used as currency, you want to collect as many possible.

Another tip is to approach the bean traders more than once, as their price will change every time. Try to get a really low price, and then buy as many of that item as you want. This will save you a lot of beans in the long run!

Overall, I would highly recommend "The Chamber of Secrets" - as it truly is an awesome game! It kept me rivetted to my seat, not wanting to turn it off - the sign of a great game! Also, this is one of those games that spans generations - it can be played & enjoyed by older children and adults alike. I am in my late 30's & I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I've had trouble finding computer games for my daughter that are age appropriate. Most games labeled "for children" are really for kindergarten & under, and thus too easy & childish. "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets" is just perfect! This is a wonderful game, challenging without being frustrating; great graphics; low on violence; and just plain fun.

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets awsome game!

This is the best Harry Potter game in my opinion. It was A LOT better than the first, Sorcerer's Stone (although I like that one too).
Here are some of the pros:

*the graphics are detailed and amazing
*the characters have expressions on their faces during captions and they move their mouths when they talk
*you can explore the Hogwarts castle which has more corridors and places to go to
*there are more ways to collect beans and wizard cards
*the challenges ARE ACTUALLY CHALLENGING (although it is quite possible to finish the game)!!!

I also loved the part with the snake and dueling is very fun. Overall, this game is definately worth buying and playing.

Great but...

In my opinion this is a very good game. From what I've heard the graphhics have improved from the first and from what I've seen I quite agree. But, while staying on graphics, there faces are quite unreal and just purely not to that good. But thats really the only problems with the graphics.

The plot is more so based on the movie, which most games are. I happen to have also bought the Game Cube version. In this you begin at the Burrow. You get to degnome the gnome while tossing them, and Ron, Fred, and George, help you to start learning your first spell. Then you move on todiagon ally were you have to find Ginny's thing and then you miss the train, you go and crash into the womping willow. This becomes y7our first 'dungon' After that you enter hogwarts, but first getting an encounter from Snape yada yada yada. Neways thats what you didnt really do with the PC version. ou just had cutscenes all the way up to the Womping Willo, which you Flipendo and did like an interducteroy lvel.

Some bad things are, you cant fly around! Even after you bought the Nimbus 2001 from Fred or was it George? You can't fly around which I particulary liked, but that also got me to beat all four, open, quidditch games in a row. On the other game I won the first one and the others I completely lost.

This game, is very easy I got up to the Champber of Secrets Leve in less then a ful day, maybe four hours. BUT Th game was enjoyable and something I could do on my own. The other game I find is quite harder the castle is basically a few rooms, and not worth exploring espically with the poor design of the Grand Staircase, and I had to get help for a few things. And ofcourse it took me around 2 and a half days to beat.

Dueling, I don't like it period. But the duealing in this gam is hard and mindless to me. In the GameCube game you actually will use duealing alot so you get used to it, but in this one its optional so basically you dont get used tyo it.

All in all this is good game, and a good buy. Espically for those Harry Potter Fanatics. If you rather have a more easier version then get this game, but if you want alittle bit more of a challenge ge one of the systems game (I have not yet gotten it on PS2 or X box and don't plan having the same game for everything can get borning but the versions vary quite a bit)

but hey thats just my opinion.
