This is going to be one of the most realistic ww2 games ever i cant even begin to describe to you how good this game will be. You need to see all the trailers and its finnaly coming you must get this game if you love world war 2 first you jump out of the planes in d-day and fight all over normandy and this is no moh where its run and gun. This game takes hella strategy you have to actually supress you enemys and they can use fire tactics just like your own men and you will have to flank enemys. Trust me this game will be great your men are very smart they are based on real paratroopers from ww2. You need to see the trailers for this game and if you love ww2 BUY THIS GAME!!! If you dont like the reviews on it and trailers ur dumb just wait till march and we can finnaly play it and reserve the game now!!!!

I've been syked for Brothers in Arms since I first saw it's trailer in June 2004. When I finally got it, an extreme feeling of excitment came over me. I knew I was in for something extrodinarie. Before I continue, let me just say I wasn't wrong at all in thinking this. After completing the game about an hour ago, i feel as though I have made friendships and also lost several. The men of Fox Company 502nd regiment of the 101st airborne come alive in Brothers in Arms. They aren't dumb ai bots running into walls and getting killed for not returning fire. They are smart, almost to the point of creepiness. Level after level I was continuely worrying about the welfare of my men. Not because I couldnt survive without them, but because I didnt want to survive without them. I wanted to see all of my men through to the end. Sadly not all of them can be saved and your always wondering who is going to die next. As you get closer to the end of the game you begin to feel that the rest of your "dozen" has a chance. The game's opening scene is intense with violence as well as profanity. It is brutal and sets the mood for the scene that follows. Don't go into Brothers in Arms thinking its another "Americans win everything" game. Many of the levels are sad and some moments are downright scary. If you've viewed, no, experienced and enjoyed the film Band of Brothers, this game will appeal to you. The story is so gripping I literally played it for 24 hours straight until I beat it. The gameplay in Brothers in Arms is solid enough to get use to fairly quick and both the game's sound and visuals are top notch. They obviously can't stand up completly to the Xbox version but I do believe a little more detail could have been put into the character models. In the Xbox game, soldiers have better lipsyncing as well as more detailed uniforms. In the PS2 version the soldiers look good but not quite as authentic as the Xbox soldiers. I noticed a few landscape changes between the two versions of the game but not enough to make me feel as though I was in a different place. This game is very solid on all systems and in still shots, looks almost indentical. The "glow effect" was used to make Brothers in Arms look really polished. Mercenaries and Star Wars Battlefront (PS2 version are the only other games I've seen use this method of detailing the atmosphere. It looks nice. The weapons in Brothers in Arms are true to life weapons that feel more real than ever before. You need to be precise in your aiming, be careful where you take cover, and think like a soldier because two well placed shots is enough to drop you. Over all, Brothers in Arms on the PS2 is very nice and offers split screen multiplay (very sweet), online play (havent played yet), and tons of extras (love um). On the down side, I wish I could turn off the dang subtitles, this bothers me and reminds me all too often that Brothers in Arms is just a game. The harsh language in the game can be muted, but is still visible (something Xbox players can change) I dont understand why subtitles are present in the PS2 version but they are hardly enough to keep me from enjoying this awesome game. Check this game out, its incredibley good.
Thanks for reading.

Well i wish i coud review the game itself .I put in the pre order so i could get this game when it came out and the merchant that was listed as the seller was Office Depot.Got the game ,opened it up,and though it was factoory sealed it had strange markings on the disc.Gave it a try anyways and it was defective, wouldn't read the disc on my playstation or my brother's.So I called office depot and they said over 24 hours ago they would send me an e-mail of where to send it so i can be credited on the purachase, said they can't exchange it not even for the same game, have to just reimburse me.So now i have to wait for this e-mail to send it back (which hasn't come yet over a day later),then send it back so i can get reimbursed and then try to purchase this game again.Defeated the whole purpose of pre ordering it to get it right away when it came out.So now i will be like one of the last ones to get this game instead of the first.Office Depot usually has the lowest price on "new games" but as i found out it looks like you get what you pay for with them.Think from now on i will pay the extra dollar or so for a merchant like J&R music world who ships games much faster than office depot and who had a solution for me within 15 minutes of recieving the wrong game when i got the wrong game one time from them (which was amzon's fault for showing PS 2 box of the game on the Xbox game, not J&R's fault)

make it a rental..

Okay so I was pretty stoked to play this game so like a lemming off a cliff I ran and bought it without
RENTING IT FIRST.
Bad idea.
Dumb mistake.
I bought into the hype and now I'm very disappointed. Maybe it's because I'm playing on a PS2, but this game felt somehow un-finished. My biggest gripe is the squad AI: it's a bit on the weak side. When you highlight an area where you wish them to go, they only move somewhat near to it. If it happens to be nowhere near cover, too bad, they end up dying. It's pretty frustrating because you need your team mates to make it through this game.
It seems as though the makers have ignored what other squad based FPS's have already accomplished, which is strange considering it's Ubi soft. I mean, look at how well Ghost Recon plays.
Why couldn't this game have that kind of squad interface?
I think it is very important for people to RENT THIS GAME FIRST.
Sorry, but it just doesn't live up to the hype.

JUST RENT IT

Dont be fooled by the commercials and ads for this game, they make it look ten times better than it really is. First off it is deffinately like the other guy said, 2nd your guys cant even run to all out attack ONE GERMAN with half of the team getting killed pff if its five of your guys charging one german than usually only about 2 or 3 make it back, and last the game only took me 2 afternoons to beat! (on normal) the game is finished too quick and plus there are a lot of little glitches i found about your squad, like one time instead of running my guy "floated" very fast to a position....? so anyways just rent the game, you'll have it beat in NO TIME. This game was deffinately a waiste of money...

Best WW2 shooter for the PS2

I'm a WW2 buff and I've played all the WW2 games for the PS2 and this one just gives you the best feel among the others. I guess the plus points of this game is the authenticity and realism.

Things that are realistic:
1) You die real quick.
2) You need your squad to get things done.
3) Real tactics: suppress the enemy and flank them. A frontal assault will get you and your people killed even if it's just one German.
4) You're troops do not follow your orders 100%.
5) You have very limited ammo... you usually have up to 10 magazines / reloads. You have to pick weapons and ammo up along the way. This is realistic because most vests and belts in WW2 only have 8 to 10 pockets. And the ammo should match your weapon (a German SMG clip won't work with your Tommy Gun like in Medal of Honor or Call of Duty).
6) No health packs.
7) You are not a sharp shooter. Even if the crosshair is pointed to the enemy, you will miss it 80% of the time if you shoot too quick and the enemy is too far. If you use the zoom view, you will find the sights moving around and going off-target with every shot. (Games like Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 hit 90% of the time no matter how far the enemy is).
8) Sound is authentic. Real gunshots sound like "Pops" instead of "Bangs". Grenade blasts don't set off big exposions, just a "Thud" and some smoke.
9) Decent maps. Most concole games only have one path. Although this game has linear maps, it gives you 2 to 3 alternate paths and a lot of shooting space.

Of course the game is not perfect...
The bad things:
1) Your troops stay in the open and get themselves killed.
2) Non-existent musical score. Although you won't hear music in real-life. Adding background music can improve one's gaming experience.
3) Stereotypical American G.I. dialogue.
4) Relatively short. I can finish the game in a weekend.
5) You can reload your M1 even if you have a few shots left in your clip!!! All previous WW2 games do not allow this, don't know why they missed this.

Conclusion:
This is not a game for everyone. This game will appeal to people who are into "realistic" squad-based shooting games, who are into strategy games, and WW2 buffs... and those who can live with the limitations of the game as pointed out in all the user reviews. It's either you like this game or you don't... nothing in between.

This game is truly amazing. It is a step higher then MOH and COD. I was huge fans of both those games but i think BIA is truly better. You actually fear seaing enemy soilders instead of wanting them to come so you can easily kill them, like in MOH and COD. You cant just run out guns blazin in this game either since one burst of MG42 fire and your minced meat. Stragey is a key element but for people who dont like stragy dont let this factor turn you away since i am not a huge fan of stragey Shooters but i love this game. Stragy doesnt play a big enough role in this game to get bothersum. I would reccomend this to anyone who likes MOH or COD. Or just history in generel. This is a great game!!
