I've been syked for Brothers in Arms since I first saw it's trailer in June 2004. When I finally got it, an extreme feeling of excitment came over me. I knew I was in for something extrodinarie. Before I continue, let me just say I wasn't wrong at all in thinking this. After completing the game about an hour ago, i feel as though I have made friendships and also lost several. The men of Fox Company 502nd regiment of the 101st airborne come alive in Brothers in Arms. They aren't dumb ai bots running into walls and getting killed for not returning fire. They are smart, almost to the point of creepiness. Level after level I was continuely worrying about the welfare of my men. Not because I couldnt survive without them, but because I didnt want to survive without them. I wanted to see all of my men through to the end. Sadly not all of them can be saved and your always wondering who is going to die next. As you get closer to the end of the game you begin to feel that the rest of your "dozen" has a chance. The game's opening scene is intense with violence as well as profanity. It is brutal and sets the mood for the scene that follows. Don't go into Brothers in Arms thinking its another "Americans win everything" game. Many of the levels are sad and some moments are downright scary. If you've viewed, no, experienced and enjoyed the film Band of Brothers, this game will appeal to you. The story is so gripping I literally played it for 24 hours straight until I beat it. The gameplay in Brothers in Arms is solid enough to get use to fairly quick and both the game's sound and visuals are top notch. They obviously can't stand up completly to the Xbox version but I do believe a little more detail could have been put into the character models. In the Xbox game, soldiers have better lipsyncing as well as more detailed uniforms. In the PS2 version the soldiers look good but not quite as authentic as the Xbox soldiers. I noticed a few landscape changes between the two versions of the game but not enough to make me feel as though I was in a different place. This game is very solid on all systems and in still shots, looks almost indentical. The "glow effect" was used to make Brothers in Arms look really polished. Mercenaries and Star Wars Battlefront (PS2 version are the only other games I've seen use this method of detailing the atmosphere. It looks nice. The weapons in Brothers in Arms are true to life weapons that feel more real than ever before. You need to be precise in your aiming, be careful where you take cover, and think like a soldier because two well placed shots is enough to drop you. Over all, Brothers in Arms on the PS2 is very nice and offers split screen multiplay (very sweet), online play (havent played yet), and tons of extras (love um). On the down side, I wish I could turn off the dang subtitles, this bothers me and reminds me all too often that Brothers in Arms is just a game. The harsh language in the game can be muted, but is still visible (something Xbox players can change) I dont understand why subtitles are present in the PS2 version but they are hardly enough to keep me from enjoying this awesome game. Check this game out, its incredibley good.
Thanks for reading.

This game is very well done. Unlike the 'Medal of Honor' series which is just you versus the entire German army, this game really puts you there, in stunning realistic detail, in charge of two fire teams and occasionally a tank for support. The story follows a small unit of the 101st airborne in the days after the Normandy invasion of 1944. The story is rich, the AI and graphics are amazing, and your comrades actually do help you suppress and defeat the enemy, registering many kills of their own. The story draws you in. You will care about your men and may feel you want to start missions over if you lose your men.
The Germans are smart. They use cover when you are suppressing them. They try and flank your position. They'll toss grenades at you. Often they try to catch you in a cross-fire. They charge when they think YOU are suppressed. You have to be cautious. Don't just go charging in like Rambo or you and your men are dead.
You can use your tank for mobile cover to protect your men and rely on its awesome firepower. You can sneak up behind a German Panzer Tank and drop a grenade in the cockpit while your teams distract it. You can use one fire team to suppress an enemy while you take the second team around to flank him and take him out, which will be your primary tactic during this game. It is excellent.
WARNING: This is WAR, and there is a LOT of cursing and some blood spatter. This is as realistic as it gets without actually being there. It is NOT for young children. Mind the 'M' rating.

this is the most realistic game you will ever play. every detail, from the sounds of the guns to the buildings in the towns, are real. The soldiers are real too. This is the first World War 2 game that has ever put real tactics and commands, instead of Rambo medal of honor shoot everything that moves. The story and characters are deep and you feel sad when they die and it is scary when youre fighting alone. This is a no BS World War 2 game and probably the best World War 2 game you will find for a very long time. You should definently get this if you want a great First Person Shooter.

I loved playing this game. I got it for my 14th birthday. Ive passed it on hard and working on authentic. The only bad part about the game is it dosnt get intense enough through the middle levles. But in the first and last level it is extremely intese, with guys dying all around you and blood and gore all over. half the time its so scary you dont know up from down! It makes it very realistic, graphics are awsome, and the gameplay is sweet. You control a WWII soldier named Matt Baker. You are a paratrooper jumping into normandy. But one twist in the story is that there is a mis-drop when your plane gets shot down all but one survives and you are standed and lost behind enemy lines with thirteen men under your control.

Im Glad I finally talked my mom into buying me an 'M' rated game

Put it this way, THE GAME IS WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

been waiting for this game forever

This is going to be one of the most realistic ww2 games ever i cant even begin to describe to you how good this game will be. You need to see all the trailers and its finnaly coming you must get this game if you love world war 2 first you jump out of the planes in d-day and fight all over normandy and this is no moh where its run and gun. This game takes hella strategy you have to actually supress you enemys and they can use fire tactics just like your own men and you will have to flank enemys. Trust me this game will be great your men are very smart they are based on real paratroopers from ww2. You need to see the trailers for this game and if you love ww2 BUY THIS GAME!!! If you dont like the reviews on it and trailers ur dumb just wait till march and we can finnaly play it and reserve the game now!!!!

Listen, I read some reviews on here before I even went out to rend the darn game. I was thinking it was going to be medeocre or maybe good. Well anyone that didn't appreciate what the developers of this game did very well, must not even like the genre. If you liked Medal of Honor, just take similar graphics, less ememies that are way tougher to kill. Yes, you actually have to think a little bit while playing this game, which may hamper the plans of traditional"Run an Gun" fans. Well, I guess this game just isn't for them. I agree that you should be able to choose your weapons. The book says that there are no health packs, yet fails to mention the crucial ability to heal your characters randomly when your start from a checkpoint.
