Absolutely terrific game! Includes great graphics and music, and, most important, an absorbing story that grabs you from the start. Gun was the kick-in-the-pants I needed after getting through the tedious first Splinter Cell. It's as engrossing as the first Max Payne, and I hope--though I doubt it'll happen--it eventually spawns a sequel.

Fantastic Game

I am a recreational gamer. In other words, I take the PS2 on business trips with me and I play when my wife goes for a girls night out (or more often a PTO meeting). I am a fan of Westerns and this game was great. The storyline, the graphics, the different weapons, and the difficulty were perfect for me. Because I don't play a lot, I get very frustrated with games that are too long or too hard to beat. Some have complained that the game is too short. It is short, but that was great for me. I was able to finish the game on one business trip.

You do have to do all of the side missions in order to gather enough skill, strength, and weaponry to beat the game. The one drawback I found was that once you have started a mission, there is no way to leave it and go back to town to do side missions. The first time I tried to play, I got stuck trying to kill Reed. I ended up having to start over and I made sure to complete more side missions the second time through. But, I should have known better! My only other complaint is that the language is a bit rough at times, enough that it is a bit distracting.

All in all, one of my favorite games!

Stereo Typical Old West Adventure

Many people play video games to escape from reality for a short time. Within the vast selection of escape games, such as the Grand Theft Autos, this game offers a unique escape back to a time when life was moving at a different pace. I'm not saying this game is historically factual and I'm not saying this game is slow. What I am saying is this game is different. Wild West games are not new but I believe this is one of the best done. It has an interesting story line, the landscape is well done, and the missions within the game play are well thought out. There is also a certain amount of open end playing in this game. You can pick and choose what missions to complete next or you can choose to just ride around for while. It does not stray far from the stereo typical old west. Cowboys are cowboys and Indians are Indians and, of course, every gunslinger or cowboy is a drinker and is looking forward to their next visit to the town's house of ill repute. In fact, your health is refilled by taking a chug on your whiskey bottle. I found the targeting and control system friendly and easy to use. The quick draw mode is especially useful. I've had this game for a couple years but still like to pull it out and picture myself as the mysterious dark stranger that just rode into town with Colt 45's ready for anything that may come my way. My only complaint is that it could be a little more exciting and the soundtrack isn't much more than background sound effects. It isn't perfect but it is worth it.

Finally.... A Really Good Game

This is the first mature game ive bought and i think they did a great job. It's too easy to get hooked. If ya get bored theres plenty to do and alot of places to wander off to. Hope they make another one and throw some more stuff in there that doesnt go along with the story. Something like being real bad, posse comes looking for you or something. It's worth buying, the PSP one is good fun also.
