Finally.... A Really Good Game

This is the first mature game ive bought and i think they did a great job. It's too easy to get hooked. If ya get bored theres plenty to do and alot of places to wander off to. Hope they make another one and throw some more stuff in there that doesnt go along with the story. Something like being real bad, posse comes looking for you or something. It's worth buying, the PSP one is good fun also.

Stereo Typical Old West Adventure

Many people play video games to escape from reality for a short time. Within the vast selection of escape games, such as the Grand Theft Autos, this game offers a unique escape back to a time when life was moving at a different pace. I'm not saying this game is historically factual and I'm not saying this game is slow. What I am saying is this game is different. Wild West games are not new but I believe this is one of the best done. It has an interesting story line, the landscape is well done, and the missions within the game play are well thought out. There is also a certain amount of open end playing in this game. You can pick and choose what missions to complete next or you can choose to just ride around for while. It does not stray far from the stereo typical old west. Cowboys are cowboys and Indians are Indians and, of course, every gunslinger or cowboy is a drinker and is looking forward to their next visit to the town's house of ill repute. In fact, your health is refilled by taking a chug on your whiskey bottle. I found the targeting and control system friendly and easy to use. The quick draw mode is especially useful. I've had this game for a couple years but still like to pull it out and picture myself as the mysterious dark stranger that just rode into town with Colt 45's ready for anything that may come my way. My only complaint is that it could be a little more exciting and the soundtrack isn't much more than background sound effects. It isn't perfect but it is worth it.

Fantastic Game

I am a recreational gamer. In other words, I take the PS2 on business trips with me and I play when my wife goes for a girls night out (or more often a PTO meeting). I am a fan of Westerns and this game was great. The storyline, the graphics, the different weapons, and the difficulty were perfect for me. Because I don't play a lot, I get very frustrated with games that are too long or too hard to beat. Some have complained that the game is too short. It is short, but that was great for me. I was able to finish the game on one business trip.

You do have to do all of the side missions in order to gather enough skill, strength, and weaponry to beat the game. The one drawback I found was that once you have started a mission, there is no way to leave it and go back to town to do side missions. The first time I tried to play, I got stuck trying to kill Reed. I ended up having to start over and I made sure to complete more side missions the second time through. But, I should have known better! My only other complaint is that the language is a bit rough at times, enough that it is a bit distracting.

All in all, one of my favorite games!

Absolutely terrific game! Includes great graphics and music, and, most important, an absorbing story that grabs you from the start. Gun was the kick-in-the-pants I needed after getting through the tedious first Splinter Cell. It's as engrossing as the first Max Payne, and I hope--though I doubt it'll happen--it eventually spawns a sequel.

Best Western Game Ever!

If u are looking for an authentic feeling western game then this is it. More of a modern-revisionist western than old spaghetti westerns but it is very fun. the story is a tale of revenge that takes you on an adventure thru the old west. the cut-scenes and graphics are really good. As for the game play, its very open ended. There are structured missions you will go on, but there's also a number of other activities you can do; mining gold, hunting, buying upgrades for weapons, horseback riding. There are side-missions too (like gta) to get your stats up.

The game is really violent. That may be a pro or con depending on what u want. The character starts with three main weapons: 6 shooter, rifle, & bowie knife. over the course of the game u get new stuff (bows, shotguns, sniper, hatchet). there are also molotov cocktails and dynamite sticks to blow people up with. The action is very fast-paced and bloody. Hitting R2 will switch the game to 1st-person shooter and everything slows down. Then you can take your time gunning down enemies. Actually blowing people's guts and brains everywhere is not the most violent part of the game though. After u shoot somebody down, while they're squirming on the ground u can take your knife and scalp them. But what would u really expect from a game called 'Gun' with a bullet-holed skull on the cover?

Overall this game is TOO SHORT! it's really action-packed, violent, has a good story...basically everything i look for in a game, but iI beat it like a week! Some of u gamers could probaly beat it in one night! Worth a look at though if ur into action games tho. By far, this is the best western video game ever made

"Gun" is a very solid western game with "grand theft auto" style freedom to choose your missions and what you want to do. It has a great storyline, outstanding voice acting, smooth gameplay and very good graphics. Unfortunately, the game also feels a little too short and it never quite maximizes the western landscape. Some of the side missions will take you out into the country but a lot of the territory doesn't have much to do with anything. Overall, this is a very good game and well worth your time. The fact that it leaves you wanting more probably says something about how good the gameplay is.

GLITCH OF DEATH

By the time I played the game it was already two years old so I already knew that there were going to be antiquated issues to deal with. What I didn't realize at the time was there was going to be the glitch of death. As I started playing the game I was hooked and the story line was pretty good. It kept me wanting to invest my precious time playing the game. Now to the catch. You cannot buy weapons in this game, only upgrades. As part of the story line you have to lose your weapons. It does not matter how much money you earn during the game, you can never buy weapons. You loses your weapons at least twice in the game. The second time you lose your weapons and I thought that the game gave them back to me and it didn't. I saved the game and there are no cheat codes or nothing to get your weapons back and you cannot buy new weapons. Well I had to fight an end boss without my weapons and there was simply no way to beat the guy without starting the game over. Too many other games out there that beat this game hands down. I chose to sell it instead of starting over again. Thanks for wasting my time activision. Buyer another western like red dead revolver instead, one that does not have this foolish glitch. How can you beat an end boss without weapons. This mistake should not happen in a game, but then again this is an activision game. If it weren't for this glitch and I could have finished the game it would have gotten at least a high three stars or four stars.

Great poduction value with plenty of play time, but no reply value

This game is amazing. The cast is all-star, and the direction is completely out of any video game's league.

Violence and brutality are depicted as the bedmate of any Westerner, as one would expect with an M rated shooter named "Gun."

My only complaint, and I stress "only," is the lack of replay value.

Great Western Style Game

Hey, if your in to westerns and like shoot'em ups and a challenge then this is the game for you. This game rocks with many differant objectives and the graphics are great for the PS2. In this game you will be on your toes trying to complete each task. The only thing I don't like about the game is the theme music but over all this game is edictive and fun.

DISAPPOINTED!

I normally don't play first person shooter type games because I don't have the quick gaming reflexes necessary to play such games and most games don't have effective ways of controlling your character/aiming & shooting. I took a chance on this game though because it sounded interesting. I couldn't get past the poor aiming and firing controls to delve deeper into the game. The voice acting for the two main characters in the game was really good and the graphics were pretty good, but I couldn't play the game for more than the hour it took to learn the controls and play a ways into the game. People that play FPS games a lot may enjoy this game, but it wasn't for me.
