James Bond 007: Nightfire

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 2

When Agent Under Fire hit store shelves, it sold for big money!
Nightfire did even better, being one of the most popular non-online multiplayer video games for the PS2. Although that, the game suffers some too. Graphics usually are smooth, detailed, and other times they are dark, boring, and plainly bad. The game is filled with tons of weapons (better then Agent Under Fire's), and the ability to "upgrade" both the weapons and gadgets is a huge great feature. Although the real actor of James Bond did some voice work for James Bond in the game, Jame's voice just doesn't sound right. In the game, you get to do a lot more driving and rail shooting than AUF, and lets you get behind the wheel of some awesome cars.
The game lets you use all those fun gadgets, but has them only really use in the "perfect" situation for them.
And parents be cautioned: THE GAME CONTAINS BOND KISSING THE OTHER GIRLS A LOT TOO! Ofcourse it also brings the character's personalities...
Overall: 3.5 stars OUT OF 5.0 stars

A cool follow up to Agent Under Fire

I think this game is a great addition to the James Bond video game series. I like how Pierce Brosnan is used in this game and how acuratly the animated him in a few spots in the game. The multiplayer part has Characters from classic movies that you can unlock during the regular game. So Overall this game is pretty god and i am not dissapointed in getting it.

There is another one coming soon. So, JAMES BOND WILL RETURN!

The Thrilling Sequel To Agent Under Fire!

I personnaly liked this game a lot. I enjoy the missions where you walk around, with your weapon and pick your enemies off, or sometimes I enjoy taking a ride in the Aston Martin Vanquish, which just appeared in Die Another Day. The story plot is simple. You play secret agent, 007, James Bond, and try to track down a piece of stolen missile device. This game is a bit more violent then Agent Under Fire which was released in 2001, since of the large ammount of blood showed from the first person veiw when you lose health is a bit innopropiate. I'm glad I played this game, and I would too, but it's violence is a bit too much for younger kids, since they are some unpleasent scenes that appear in some James Bond films [Not as violent as the innopropitate things I've heard of]

Great Game, Poor Control Features

If you have enjoyed past Bond games, you'll definitely like this one. The missions were interesting and filled with details and the story is compelling enough to have been made into a movie script. The graphics and sound are similar to past Bond games, but a little better since it has been made for a PlayStation 2 platform. The one problem I had with this games are the controls. It is very difficult to aim your weapon and hit enemies anywhere except their chest. This becomes more frustrating in the multiplayer game, since being able to aim quickly determines if you beat your opponents. It becomes easier as you play more, but it remains more cumbersome than past Bond games. All in all, if you like the Bond movies and enjoy a good action game, this Bond is for you.

Big step backwards

I got this game thinking the multiplayer would be like Agent Under Fire's, only with bots so i could play alone or cooperatively with friends. What I liked about Agent Under Fire were the following options in multiplayer: speed adjustment, gravity adjustment, Q-jet, Q-claw. All of these things have been left out of Nightfire!!! Granted, some of the new options are kinda cool, such as the remote-controlled helicopters and tanks and especially the guided missiles, but these things lose their charm pretty quickly. I am VERY disappointed. The movement in multiplayer is EXTREMELY slow, which is just accentuated by the fact that many of the levels are impressively large. Aiming is awkward. In general the gameplay pales in comparison to HALO or Timesplitters (1 or 2). The single player levels are larger and better looking than AUF's, but I'm not really into running around trying to find computers to plant Q-worms on and such, so I lost interest fast. This is a rental at best, since even if you enjoy the missions you can finish them all in a few sittings.

It's Cool, but it could be better

OK, first of all, the game rocks! The company that makes it has improved the games a lot. AUF had an MRL-22 that had a guidable missile. Problem was you didn't see where it was so you could lose is, i could easily backfire on you, and it got boring really fast. NF has a replacement that was featured in TWINE, called the sentinal. In TWINE it wasn't guidable but here it is. There's a new laser, the Samurai, and there are mini vehicles like tanks, and helicopters. Somebody said there was a snowmobile but I haven't seen one yet. There is even and opening song: wow! Allover the game is decent. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the grappler (Q-Claw in AUF). In AUF the technollogy was better, it was like a grappler hook, and would go into most things. But here it only goes into hooks. Oh by the way I forgot there are turret guns in one level!

no one does it better

This is a great, entertaining game. The graphics, weapons, and multiplayers modes are all greatly improved over Agent Under Fire. I especially loved the bot battles in multiplayer which don't even require another person, just an A.I. In other words, this game has a lot going for it.

But whereas I still play Agent Under Fire from time to time, I never touch this game anymore, and I'm considering selling it.

Why? Because it gets boring. There's nothing to work for. At least in Agent Under Fire (which can now be had for only $20--I suggest you buy that, instead) the unlockable powerups like Golden Armor and Golden Gun (and many more) were something worth getting. In Nightfire, things like powerups to make your grapple longer don't seem to have any practical use, at least I never found one.

The game also shows signs of wanting to be Metal Gear Bond, best represented by the occaisional use of a third person view and the overabundance of stealth missions. At least Agent Under Fire had the guts to remain a first person shooter, more in the realm of Medal of Honor: Frontline.

There just isn't the shoot-em-up "Bond, James Bond" magic. Some of your weapons are too futuristic, a departure from the usual P2K, shotgun, etc., you've come to expect, giving the whole game a sci-fi feel. Not to mention the pathetic last level, which actually takes place in outerspace. What a let-down.

Anyway, rent this game, because it's enjoyable enough, but BUY Agent Under Fire: a superior game, though older, at a much lower price.

The best Bond game ever!!!!

This is a great game that will provide you with hours of enjoyment. The graphics are great and you get to pilot a submarine, act as a gunner in a mini-plane, drive an amoured 4WD vehicle. Only downside no cheat codes..but hey it's fun
