X's Defining Moment

If you've played a game in this series already, understand that the concept remains unchanged. And why stray from a winning formula? The price tag for this game is justified because of the advanced chips used in the cart as well as this title's status as a rarity (extremely hard to find). I own every title in the series and have to say that this one barley edges out the original and here's why.

X has the newfound potential to perform an upward thrusting jump once you've found the necessary component, the X armors are vastly improved, the upgrade capsules are well hidden (and sometimes frustratingly annoying to access), the game has more mini bosses than before, the music is ONCE AGAIN outstanding, and you get to control Zero for the first time (in dramatic fashion, as if to say...he has returned!). Need I say more? I never got the chance to complete this game because I actually got my hands on it later in my life when I didn't have too much time to play it. The game is pretty difficult as well, so if you found the previous two installments to be pretty easy as I did, this one is a worthy and engrossing challenge.

Time consuming but fun

This game is a lot of fun I just saw a speed run of it one you tube in about 60 minutes. This kid was extradionary good at doggig the bosses attacks and knowing what weapons were more effective then otherss for quicker victotories. This kid beat all the bosses with only about 20 to 400 hits on the bosses excluding those used to take out the normal enemies. This game is fun but expect to die alot if you do not used cheats or passwords or you are able to find the ultra super weapon. There some lase like weapon that is hidden somewhere that literally takes down a whole boss gage with two hits if the strike range is close enough the boss does dodge it somehow. If you love the more traditonal and relastic mega man this is for you. For those of you that no longer I hgave working supernintendo You can get this on a mega man X collection in platstation 2 format for about 5 to 20 dollars if used and possibly if it does not have a super high positive rating of 96% or higher is in fair to like new and sometimes good condition. This game truely is and instany classic depsite the large amount of time to master. Thanks for reading this you go Mega Man!

One of the best games ever.

This was my favorite of the Megaman X games. When it came out, my brother and I had so much fun with this game. The fact that you could finally play as Zero (even if it was pretty limited), and the idea that you could upgrade your armor not once, but twice, along with the super armor mech bodies you could find along the way was perfect. Megaman could get more and more powerful as the game progressed right up until the last series of stages. This game is the reason I'm going to buy the Megaman X collection for PS2. Good luck to the guys selling it for 250 bucks on here though. Hope that pans out for you.

best music ever

Mega Man X3 is quite possibly the best Mega Man X game ever made. The main thing that impressed me was the music. Now I know many of you say this game is to expensive and it is better to just buy the PS2 collection set but it is not. I have the original game and the collection set and in the collection set they changed all the music and sound effects in X3 which destroys the whole game. The music is the best part of X3. There are so many good songs but my favorite's are the Intro song, the ending song, the credits song after the ending song, gravity beetles song, cains song, toxic seahorses song, and the music when you first become zero in the first level. The only song in this game that isnt spactacular is blizzard buffalos music but other than that every song is good. Oh and to those of you that whine and say you can only get 5 of the 8 upgrades you are wrong there is a way to get all 8 parts but it's a secret.

Why You Should Buy This Game

This is by far the BEST MEGA MAN GAME ever produced. Ranks right up there with the original Mega Man for the NES (CLASSIC)! It has one of the story lines in any of the X games! A scientist who creates a Utopian like city only to turn out to be a nutjob and makes all the Reploids in to Mavericks at the push of a button! AWESOME! Also it has multiple paths the game can take depending on the order you defeat bosses! Plus you get awesome weapons and can play as ZERO! I mean come on! Who of us MEGA MAN fans hasn't wanted to play as ZERO! I even own to of this game! One that I play, and another that I save just in case my old decides to break on me! I would trade this game for any other in the X Series!

C Team

The levels are vastly empty. It makes you wonder why they added so much space in each level - It is just boring and makes you feel like the developers didn't care. I laughed at the empty rooms, poor programing, monotonous music , boses which can be tricked into infinite loops and crapalicous sound effects (why not reuse the originals?)

X was an enjoyable game, I often go back to it. X2 felt like a B Team game but I still loved it because it still felt polished. With X3 it feels like Capcom didn't care; it feels like they put the C Team on this project.

To sum up the complaints:
-Big empty levels (not interesting or fun.)
-They didn't test the boses enough (cheap infinite loops.)
-Some graphics they borrowed from the last games didn't mesh with the new stuff they put in.
-Poor enemy design. Why would Sigma design such cumbersome and stupid looking robots?
-Many upgrades are very easy to find.
-The sound effects sound like hilariously bad spoofs. They should have reused the original effects for the death sound and the "charged up" sound, especially.

To state the bonuses:
-I always wanted to be Zero.

The truth about MMX3

Ok, so in other reviews you see people saying like WAIT FOR THE COLLECTOIN FOR PS2 AND GAMECUBE THAT WILL INCLUDE 6 MMX GAMES, well ITS NOT the same playing MMX1, MMX2, MMX3 in your super nes that in your PS2, for super nes its the real deal, actual game, its not the same. This game was one of the best games out there of the MMX series,. I have all of the mmx series games, including the super nes, and the ps1 and ps2 games and i wouldnt trade my super nes MMX games for the Megaman x collection, never. And about the price for this game, its ok, you are paying around $75 dollars for this game,, when new it was worth $60 dollars(According to an email i received from capcom, so just a 15 dollars raise its not bad, of course it seems OUTRAGEOUS compared to other super nes games like MMX1 which is 10 bucks, but since the super nes was coming to an end back in 1995, they didnt make so many MMX3, so thats why its a little expensive. OVERALL this game is the BOMB, and the price is just right(its called supply and demand)

Good game, but not worth the price of admission

First off, I would like to say that finding a new, factory sealed Mega man X3 costs over $200 (even a used copy costs just under 130 bucks), so unless you have a lot of money to burn, or absolutely need this game, avoid it.
As far the as the game itself goes, it's not too bad. It marks the very first time you get to play as Zero, and it has more capsules to discover. With all standard Megaman fare in the game, it makes it a solid side scroller. But it also brings us back to reason why this game should be avoided: THE HUGE PRICE TAG! Being standard megaman fare, it just isn't worth the money to shoot bad guys and beat a boss. After all, it is still just a standard side scroller.
All in all, the game is good, but I just feel there should be a better reason for a game to be so expensive.

the defining moment in X's history

ther are very few games that are worth this kind of dough. When i looked this one up the price had me spinning! after purchasing this game i have officially topped of my SNES collection, and its impossible to be a hardcore megaman fan without this game. If your a fan of skillful fighting suicide jumps that you actually make, and etc., you may find a warmer welcome with the plain megamans 1 through 7. However if your passion is new bigger weapons that wreak the ultimate havoc on evil, pick this one up, believe the hefty price tag is nothing compared to the smiles this game will put on your face

Overrated game and megaman at his worst

why is this game so expensive???!!! It was by far the worst megaman game ( along with x5 and x6). And i beat them all might i add. But x3 had nothing new. The only two things new is u can play as zero. BUT if u die with him, he is gone for the rest of the game. And there are 8 capsules. But 4 are the normal armor and the other 4 are extras. But u can only get one extra. Megaman x1 is alot better and so is x4. Get those two and u are set.
