Weak Game Play.. Buy the DVD instead of watching video clips

Weak game. They are simply making money off of the name. If you are looking for a good RPG game, this isn't it. I am also getting the blue screen of death while playing this game. Buy something else like Dungeon Siege which was GREAT!!!

J.R.R. Tolkiens masterpiece comes on your controller or keyboard!

Now I am a big Tolkien fan and having the special extended versions on DVD, I thought of getting the FOTR (Fellowship of the Ring) PC game. And I love this game! It really captures the spirit though you do have to do a few activities like helping Fatty Bulger (Sorry if I misspelled his name) make a pie, etc. But I played the Two Towers and Return of the King games by EA Games, I hated those two because it did not follow the spirit much. It was also based on the movies by adding spices to a brilliant masterpiece. With FOTR, the graphics are good, the landscape is good, and best of all, it is not based on the movies! They have more characters (Tom Bombadil, and a few characters not mentioned in the movies.) Although they did spice the game up a bit, it captures the spirit of the book.

Now for the good:

Excellent graphics

The old Tolkien spirit lives in this game

Landscape is more like Middle-Earth

Creepy orcs, trolls, and many more monsters

the characters are in order (first you play Frodo, then

Aragorn, and then Gandalf, etc.) Even though some of you people
don't like that, it pretty much follows the book

Bad:

the only one I could find was adding a few scenes to the game that wasn't really needed.

If any gamer likes Tolkien, buy this game, it is worth it!

THIS IS AWSOME. I LOVED IT BECAUSE THE CHALLENGING CONTROLS AND THE AMAZING GRAPHICS. INSANELY AWSOMENESS. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. JUST REMEMBER TO SAVE FROM TIME TO TIME OR YOU HAVE TO START THE GAME OVER IF YOU FAIL WHICH IS ONE DRAWBACK BUT IS MADE UP FOR WITH THE CHARACTERS AND ENEMYS AND THE ENVIROMENTS ARE AMAZING AND YOU CAN EXPLORE INTO SECERET SPACES AND FIND HIDDEN STUFF ITS REALLY COOL. BUY IT

A great story ruined

This game is terrible. Vivendi Universal took one of the greatest storys ever told and ruined it. The character models are cartoon-like, the textures are poor, the voices are laughable and the gameplay is not much better. I'm a die-hard Toklien fan and I still hate this game. Stay away from this game at all costs.

better than THEY say

... THIS GAME IS NOT THAT BAD! I know you can run by it fast, but that takes all the fun out of it. I mean COME ON! If you are a tolkien fan you'll stop to enjoy the scenery. It follows the story, and the controls are very straightfoward. ...If you consider yourself a gamer, you need to have this game.

A Must Buy For All Tolkien Fans!

I've been following this game closely ever since I heard it was being made. It looks like it will be an EXCELLENT game for any Lord of the Rings fan. The game is based on the book, as opposed to the movie - so you'll be able to play parts of the book that weren't included in the film. You'll be able to have control of Frodo, Aragorn, and Gandalf in certain parts of the game. Bottom line: The people at Universal Interactive have been working their butts off making this an incredible game, faithful to the book, but also action-packed. I can't wait until it comes out. Pre-order this game today!

Disappointed - Bad Install drivers and bugs running the game

Even on fully loaded, fast processing computers this game is riddled with installation and run-time problems. I have tried installing and playing this game on a new laptop computer with Windows XP, my home computer with Windows 2000, and another home PC that has handled running over 50 games. I have never yet had such problems trying to run a game on a PC. I realize that the Software Company provides a game patch for many of the bugs in this game, but I don't know if they considered that most customers don't have super-computers with the latest model video cards. I am very disappointed and am anticipating EA releasing a better version in the next year.
The game looked great. What a disappointment this game has been.

Skip this turkey

This game isn't worth reviewing, but when I saw it had cumulative rating or 2.5 stars I had to chime in. THIS IS A ZERO STAR GAME. It belongs in the five dollar bin next to "Babbar and the Math Monkey". I have no idea what the people giving it high star ratings are comparing it to, but it's not the top sellers most gamers play. The developers are banking on the popularity of the movie to sell this joke of a game which, by the way, doesn't take much longer to finish than watching the movie.

Vote with your wallet and get a "Fellowship of the Ring" DVD instead--or any other Peter Jackson-based product. Then maybe we'll have more great movies and fewer [bad] games.

One of the worst games I've ever played

There aren't enough adjectives in the english language to explain how bad this game is. First of all, it's apparent right away that this game was rushed into production. On occasion, the game simply shuts down for no reason. God forbid you should try to alt+tab to another program w/ the game paused...it shuts itself down to be safe. The feedback in your speakers from the poor sound quality gets old fast. But, the worst part is, the game is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy and way too short. I couldn't believe the game was over after about 8 hours of play. This game takes full advantage of the hype surrounding both of the LOTR movies and borrows on that hype to get people to buy the game. Unfortunately, the game just plain ...[very very not nice].

Do not buy this game!!!

Ok, firstly, i would like to comment on the good parts of this game. 1. The front of the box is well designed and would look good on my wall.
Now that I've got that covered, lets go on to the bad things:
1. The game will not install. Now, I DO have the system requirements. My Computer: 1Ghz pIII, 256Mb memory, GeForce2 Ultra (64Mb), 52x CD drive, DirectX 9.0b, windows update service pack 4, Windows 2000.
I spent several hours on the phone with tech support, and they led me into more problems, then led me right back to where I started. Do not waste your money on this game. Play PacMan or something that won't waste 4 hours of your time trying to install.
