Wow what a beautiful game. I am very impressed by the graphics on this one. But what about the gameplay. It is very unique. Most of the game you are a human running around in first person shooter mode. This is pretty cool. Sometimes you will have to look around in the environment to find things to use. An example would be finding a spearlike object to hurl at a t-rex. THis sounds like it would be tough, but it really isn't. While you cock the spear with one hand, your other hand points to where you will throw the spear. THis brings up a very unique aspect of the game. There is no health meter, no reticle for shooting, no ammo readout. NO nothing. You are IN the game just as a real person would be. This helps with the immersion in the game. But what about the Kong Levels? They are way fun and way short. they are probably only about %25 of the game. They are fun though. A little clumsy on the controls, but fun. All in all this is a good game. Not great, but pretty good. You might wait a month and get it half priced used on ebay. Whatever the case, you will be pretty happy with your purchase.

If you wanted more SKULL ISLAND to be in the movie.. this game is for you!

KING KONG is a great game for a lot of reasons. It is tremendous fun for a lot of reasons. There are a handful of flaws, but the goods outweigh the bads overwhelmingly.

First off, the animation is fantastic. The first time you see the T-Rex coming after you, you'll stand and watch in amazement before you realize that you should be running your butt off because you're about to get eaten... and I did.

Not to mention the first time you see Kong emerge from the trees and rip Anne Darrow from the vine pedastal. Awesome! And as you run after him... chasing him through the jungle and see him off in the distance moving through the trees and there's no way you can catch him... cool.

There are numerous times in this game when you'll jump because the attacks are realistic, fast and ferocious. Another great thing about King Kong is the life meter... there is none. I like this. You don't have life packs or health kits... you have to be smart and run... or find a cave that the T-Rex can't get into or a rock formation. As you get bitten or hit... you'll feel it in your remote... the music will change... you'll realize you're dieing and better fight to wield off your attacker, run or accept your fate.

The bads... the dialogue or the storyline is different than the movie and it is very straight-forward and somewhat corny. Also, Anne Darrow aka Naomi Watts is WAY TOO BRAVE!! Here you are running along thinking you're supposed to be protecting her and she is running ahead of you... yelling 'come on' and running head long into a bed of monsters unarmed... then expecting you to save her... frickin' women.

Finally, I've only controlled Kong once... I'm still in the middle of playing... but although the controls are cool... you can beat your chest and let out a roar, swing... swat... rip... catch and bite the heads off of bats... you can do everything you possibly want to... which is awesome! But, the game sort of had a path that Kong HAD TO GO IN... because that was the way it was written... so I kept getting stuck because it looked like I could swing or jump somewhere, but I was supposed to go somewhere else.

Otherwise! This game is tremendous fun! I can't wait until I get to New York City and see what happens there!

i was very surprised how good this game is. the grachics are brillant, very well done, the characters look like the actors in the movie (example; jack black). half of the game is a shooter the other half u play kong, cool, huh? the dinosaurs, king kong, the enviroment, the giant insects are all very cool, except for the flying bat creatures, (the idea is good) i just thought they looked kind of stupid , maybe they should have been pterodactyls instead. everything else is done very well, the story, the voice acting (in which it should be), the pace of the game. excellent, a nice mix of different things to do. in the shooter part of the game, (which is the most part, so far, i haven't finished it yet!) resources are not plenty (bullets, guns) but there are alot of spears laying around. hopefully the movie will be as good as the game.

WOW!!!

I have to admit, when I first started playing this game I didn't think much of it. After getting a little further into it, I was blown away. This game stands out on it's own. The graphics are wonderful, and the story is very interesting. Personally I don't care much for "first person" games, but I loved this one.

Being chased around pillars by a dinosaur as a human in this is quite an adrenaline rush! Then you give it a "whew" when you live through it.

As Kong, battling the dinosaurs is great, whether it's ripping their jaws open or picking them up and slamming them down for the final blow.

I rented this, but I'm not sure I would buy it. It doesn't have much replay value. Once you're through it, it's done. But as I said, it's a great game.

king kong has charm but just not long enough

the title explains it. The game is brilliant, and I loved it a lot. It was so awesome to play it, I was dissapointed when it ended. It was fun to play and I wanted to play it much much more. you can play as kong, which is awesome! and also you get to play a FPS as Adrian brodys character. I just wish it was longer.

OMG! THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I first got this game on pc, and I was totally ASTOUNDED. My computer's graphics weren't very good - and the graphics still ROCKED! But then I got a PS2... and everything changed. But not in a bad way! In a good way. The graphics were so much better (figures seeing how the PS2 has a video card that will sustain any PS2 game that's thrown at it), and also this console version has CHEATS. Now, that may seem a bit weird to all you non-cheaters out there, but the cheats helped a lot - for example, they helped me practise the levels I was never good at, you know, so I can get better at them. It also helped so I could play the whole game without having to save the game, as I didn't have a memory card when I first got the PS2. Oh, yeah, about the game:

Pros:

- Graphics were EXCELLENT in the PS2 version, and they really made me feel more involved in the game than on the pc.
- This is a really random one, but I thought it was cool how the voices echoed in the caves and tunnels - they didn't do that on the computer.
- Controls were way easier to get used to, on the pc I was used to using the arrow keys instead of W,A,S,D and al the other controls...
- Another really random one, I can lie in bed with the controller in my hand and play KK from across the room :-P
- I loved playing as Kong in the Kong levels. Bashing up V-Rexes is so fun when you just know how to do it correctly...

Cons

- too short. I thought that it could have been a bit longer, you know, more levels - I mean, it's got like, 42 levels - but they're quite short the 2nd time round.
- ummm... please wait while I think about another con
- ok. I can't think about anything else to moan about.

This game can actually be pretty creepy at times. Like, for instance, you have to distract a V-Rex (A really, really, really, really, really, really, really big T-Rex) from eating Hayes and Denham while they open this door thing. You can achieve that by throwing spears at its head, or by shooting it in the nose, or summit... anyway, then when the door is open, you turn to run, with the V-Rex right on your heels, and WHAM - the V-Rex bites you head off. Then there's the Brontosaur level, where you have to run through a Brontosaurus stampede and get some fire while you get attacked by about 10,000 Venatosaurs (really big velociraptors).

Um, I probably shouldn't say too much more, because this is a reall long review, but anyway... you should definitely buy this game if you liked the movie. It really rocks. Two - no - EIGHT THUMBS UP TO THE UBISOFT TEAM!!!!!

the Best Video Game ever Made, Playing as Kong is amazing

Screw that matrix game, This is something new, the video game of Peter Jackson's raved about remake "King Kong" This is the best game to hit game console. What could be more magnificient than playing as "the Eighth Wonder of the World" the gigantic love struck Gorilla who battles dinosaurs on Skull Island and frightens citzens of the Big Apple. It has the shooting set up of "Goldeneye" or "Halo" but, playing as King Kong is unlike anything in the history of video games. Featuring the voices of the cast of the film, Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow, Jack Black as Carl Denham and Adrien Brody as Jack Driscoll. Rent or Buy this thrill following thrill game before you see the blockbuster movie.

This game is pretty good. The graphics and sound is amazing. But however the game does get boring after awhile. And the game is easy. I beat it in one day. And you don't play King Kong in alot of levels. And when you are Kong the levels aren't very long. But beating up dinosaurs and other creaturs are pretty fun but that's mostly what you do. And when your Jack you get more longer and boring levels. And sometimes you don't know when your running out of ammo. And you don't always get alot of ammo. And when you have the snipper gun it takes a long time to reload. You don't want that gun when your in a dangerous situation. But when you play it you will want to go see the movie even more. The game dosn't spoil anything or give you clips of the movie like so many other games based on movies. So you won't know if much of the storyline in the game is in the movie. Anyway go rent it first before buying it.

fun game involves lots of thinking

king kong is an incredible game with great graphics and gameplay!I haven't beat it yet because the mission I'm on doesn't even make sence.you have to get fire so you can burn some bushes blocking the path.there is fire but it's behind a waterfall so if you try to take the fire back you can't because it will get burnt out.the anoying thing is the raptors, once you kill two a few minutes later two come after you agian.i like playing as kong.you can break the jaws of the beast your fighting.you can even hear it break!another thing that stinks is you run out of ammunition alot and have to use a spear most of the time.so trying to kill some pest is really hard!overal it's a great game i don't think it's worth $50.00 so wait until it goes down to $30.00.might want to rent it first to see how it is.

Nice graphics, nice music but........

This game suffered the "GEORGE LUCAS SYNDROME".A lot of effects and no story at all.The typical 3D shooter, you just walk around and shoot lobsters and maggets and worms, and thats all.Very nice graphics and music, but your brains can be in the last stage of the alzheimer and you still can win the game. You dont even have to look for nothing, no trap doors or secret tunnels, just wait until the other characters tell you to move on.You stay in some scenes 2 or 3 minutes shooting worms and then a rock falls and you move on through that hole.
I just hope the movie will be better than this.
