Ok i read most of the other reviews i it looks like to me that no one knows what they want. some think its bad that you can blow threw every thing, then others think its the best. i love this game even though its a bit short. If the game play in 1 player was longer it would be a five. The multi player is so addictive it not right.

Red Faction 2 is the "Halo" of playstation, with an assortment of weapons, almost everyone of them with alternative firing modes. The gameplay handles pretty well, and the sound and graphics live up to expectation. This game could have been a bit longer though, and should have had a 2 player mission mode like Halo. The multiplayer mode really shines, with an array of environments/stages, tough enemies and lots of firepower. For Red Faction 3, THQ should give the player control of the hovercraft and tank, instead of just being the gunner. GeoMod in the game's engine is fantastic and gives the game more realism. One and a Half thumbs up!!!!!

A good game for any Doom fan out there

I played this on my friends XBOX, and I loved it. Of course I am a HUGE Doom fan, so me playing this until three in the morning, I had no problem with it. Of course you have friends in this game, but the story goes like this.
You and your friends take on a mission to take down the Red Faction (sort of like a Soviet Republic regime.) and once you take them down, then you and your friends come back, and THEY TURN ON YOU! So now you are on your own, and now you are now on the hunt to kill them.
Sound interesting? I thought it would. Of course some of the levels are too easy in the beginning, but once you get deeper in the game, you are dealing with snipers, zombies, and other ho-ha.
It is very exciting once you get deep into the game, it is going to take some time, but it is totally worth it in the end. Of course I am already saving up some money so I can get the orginial Red Faction, and Red Faction 2 on the PC, but I have my bets that I am going to finish up these two games before I know it.

All about the multiplayer

this red faction essentially switches places with the first red faction. The first one had a great storyline and one player mode but its multiplayer lacked in levels, options, and only supported two players. The second is completely vice versa. Its stroy has noting to do with the first and it becomes laborous at times to get through it. But dont let that deter you from this game. The multiplayer is the best fps ive played on the ps2 and with so many options its hard to go wrong. 4 player with 2 bots is ideal and with the ability to level up bots to the point where they are insanely good provides quite a challenge. Overall i'd say this is a must buy for the multiplayer and you wont be disappointed but if your just going to play the campaign mode go ahead and skip it.

The computer sometimes cheats a little, but it is a fun game, especially with multiple players.

If you are a fan of Red Faction then you may be a bit dissapointed. First off, few levels actually require any strategy, follow the obvious path and kill all the enemies. Second, there is no disguising or hiding bodies or talking to people. Destructable objects? This is a joke compared to the original. You can no longer "create your own door". The game only lets you destroy things to pass a scenario or somthing so miniscule that it is not really fun to destroy. There is also barely any reference to the first game. Parker is not even mentioned in this game. The graphics, nothing special.
Positives: Sometimes you will pair up with a squad member who is invincible. So in this case it is best to just to take cover while they kill all the enemies. The AI is also better. The graphics are better, also. There are also some veichles that you can control. Unfortunantly though, half of the vehicles that you ride in you can only control the guns. There are now more weapons and you can hold a weapon in one hand and throw a grenade with the other. There is also the ability to hold two of the same guns at once. There is again a multiplayer, but it has some new levels and several new game modes. There is also at least one level in multiplayer that is the same as one of the original's multiplayer levels. It is a good game for shooter fans if it is 20 or 30 dollars.

The best multiplayer mode on any FPS on the PS2

Everyone who has a PS2 thinks Nightfire is the best. Well, it's not. Not even close compared to RFII. This game has some tough A.I., unlike in Nightfire where when you are sniping them, they just stand there and do that little side step. The Geomod engine is awsome. I love to be able to destroy everything, just like it would be if I really shot a wall with an explosive. The plot and level design is just outstanding(Sci-fi). It takes a little to long to reload. If you die that is probably the reason. I love this game and I think every PS2 owner should have it.

Just not as good as the first

Pros:
Beter graphics
More guns
a lot of multiplayer modes
4 player multiplayer
can hold 2 weapons
Cons:
The sounds are not as good as the first one
the game is very short(First one was pretty long)
The game doesn't have as much dept as the first one

With the recovoring health, it looks like as if it's trying to copy Halo, and the game is pretty dang boring. The first one just made you wanna kill someone, this one really didn't hae much of that in it. The multiplayer is the thing that saves this game(If you have 4 friends a multitap, and 4 controllers, it'll be one heck of a blast). But the game doesnt' have the dept as the first red faction, the fact that the weapon aiming sux really takes a lot of dept out of the game. If you're looking for a good follow-up, you won't et much, unless you're looking for good multiplayer game.

peace

RF2 Da Sequel

Here's a simple mixture: Take awesome graphics, amazing sound,hi-tech weaponry, and vehicles and mix it. Season it up with easy-controll,normal difficulty,a huge array of weapons and then bake it in a PS2. What do ya get a really great 1st person shooter game. RF2 starts out easy and slow for the begginer but also starts out with heavy fire power and explosions. The game gets harder and more exiting each time you pass a level. Toward the end it gets really hard especially the last level which it took me weeks to finally beat it. The game also includes tight multi-player games including capture-the-flag, bagger, and the usual last one standing wins. What [is unacceptable] about this game is in some levels you find enemies all around you making the level harder than it is, lots of re-loading, and lots of throwing your controller across the room in frusratation. Overall its a good game but requires patients.
