Giving Half Life 2 a run for its money.. I'm having a blast!

This is a game that totally immerses you in a new world. Great sound effects and music, intense moments, super graphics... The weapons and powers are fun. Did I mention that the graphics are amazing? The AI is good, the suckers dodge and chase like they are thinking. This is a great game. I have not had a single problem with it. I am running Vista 64, 8800GTX video card, quad core processor and a 30 inch Apple monitor. This game is kicking you know what! I am very pleased with this game. It is highly recommended.

(I didn't have ANY problems installing the game. Put in the DVD, and was up and playing in a few minutes... I think this is a GREAT game!)

Pretty Good.

I've been playing the game for about 6hrs now -- the game is great, love the graphics, the characters, the imagination that went into the development of the game. You can see that gaming is attracting some big brains to the industry, guys like me who grew up on Intellivision and Atari 800 (okay, so I'm an old gamer. Sue me.)

The one knock, for me, is it's a bit too scripted. I don't mind having quests of missions in a game, but I don't like it when the game gently, or otherwise, is always proding you in a certain direction that, whether you know it or not, is towards the completion of the mission. Does that make sense? Maybe you can only get the experience with online multiplayer, most notably Battlefield 2 (my favorite online game) which allows you to completely control the action and create gameplay the way you want to, or think, you can win.

It's a great game and I appreciate the money and effort that went into its development. It means PC games will always be a market, even if it's a niche. But it plays a little too much like a console game. MY PC has enough power to be a small nuclear reactor; I wish they'd taken advantage of the ablities PC gaming brings to the table and made it less about leading me along by the hand.

However, if I'm going to be led by the hand, this is exactly the place I want to be.

Good job.

Very Good.

Yes, the makers at 2k have taken DRM to an all new level. The hardware requirements are extremely high. If you want to play the newest cutting edge games than your going to need the hardware to run it. If you have the goods, this game is what it was meant to run. The graphics are state of the art and the gameplay is very immersive. The load times are incredibly long but well worth the wait. I am running a 256mb geforce 7950 and I ran the hell out of this game. If you like shooters with an rpg feel this is the game for you.

Awesome game

Dude I see why it was voted the best game. If you get time (between getting chased or clubbed) look around the game I have been so impressed eveytime I look around at the details. The way the water runs over your face lets me feels as if I am right in the game which is why at times you can get spooked when something jumps out at you. Look at the shadow and lighting ( I was looking at this mask shadow being cast on the wall and relized in horror that a houdini splicer was right behind me casting said shadow it was AWESOME). For noobs and pwners alike this game is great and challeging ( I let my dad try it out when he visited me during the holidays and he caught on quickly). This is the reason why I shelled out money for a better computer and larger monitor, buy it new buy it used just get it. I love the artwork in this the deco is awesome.

Confusing Saves

A real good looking game with some different elements that are enjoyable. However, some real drawbacks, the biggest of which is the confusing game saving design. What kind of schmuck did this to an expensive game? You run in a circle every time you close it out, only to find yourself locked in a previous chapter when reopening . . . .pretty lame for fifty bucks. Don't be fooled, unless you've got plenty O cash & time.

Hype = Fun? ....lies and deception, I tell you!

I literally just finished Bioshock less than 10 minutes ago and I am almost ashamed to admit I played it. The graphics while mind numbingly gorgeous and the effects incredible, a game needs more than simply being pretty to be entertaining. The voice acting is also very well done with lines and voice-overs that aren't the typical "CUTSCENE! TURN OFF THE SPEAKERS QUICK!" type. However, the combat system is terrible, the creatures take tons and tons of ammo to kill, but ammo is very hard to come across. So for the majority of the game you carry a wrench around trying to hit things that are running and shooting at you. The "adaptive learning" system that was so boasted about showed nothing different in my play experience. The creatures still ducked/bobbed/weaved the same as the beginning. After the 10 hours I just spent, I demand a refund or raincheck for those 10 hours wasted. Bioshock gets nothing more than a 3 out of 10.

AWESOME GAME!

This game is one of the best first person shooters since half life 2, which is in itself a masterpiece. The plot/ story line is more intricate than most first person shooters, which mainly rely on a linear point-a to point-b style gameply, however, in Bioshock, the game developers have created an interesting plot which develops over the course of the game. In respect to the graphics, every room has been carefully designed giving the entire world a lived-in look to it, making everything look extremely real.

As for the "security software", you are buying the game for the game. I have personally experienced absolutely NO bad-effects caused by the DRM. While steam isnt convenient for everyone, it allows downloads directly from the sever, which is really nice if you cant access a store or have forgotten your disk and are on a friends computer.

This game deserves five stars. Install problems or not!!!

This game is on par with Deus Ex as the prime example of what game playing should be. Atmosphere, intelligence, gameplay all roled into one splendid effort. If you enjoy a challenge, great story, and length, then this game is for you!

Some people are having install problems, this is a fact. Initially, this game was designed for only a few registered installs which is being addressed by Irrational. To simply give the game one star due to anger over this issue is ridiculous to me. My motives may be different but I believe that reviewers need to take into account the quality of the work that has been put into a game (outstanding in this effort) and also issues that are taking place. To give the game a one solely on installation problems is absurd.

I rarely review anything that I purchase, but I am spending my time doing this because of the strong feelings that I hold for this game and the developers that made it. It's not very often that a game like this comes around.

It deserves your purchase and you deserve its enjoyment. Please don't let foolish reviewers ruin this experience for you!!!

Bioshock by 2k games

taking place around 1960 in a mysterious underwater city, bioshock has an riveting story and a new and innovative weapon system. I particularly liked the idea of plasmids, altering your dna to gain special powers like electricity and ice. also interesting is the way that weapons can be upgraded to hold more ammunition or fire faster or do more damage at "Power to the People" stations. Though it is a great game, there isn't really a lot of replay value. Also, it was a hassle to get the game activated because it requires online activation to play. All in all though, it was a great game.
