AWFUL!

One word to sum up Serious Sam: Next Encounter and that is, AWFUL!

If there were to two words to describe Serious Sam: Next Encounter, then the second word would be AVOID!

I didn't think much of Sam 2nd encounter

If you enjoy playing mind-numbing, tedious, repetitive games, then serious Sam, next encounter will be right up your alley. I really wanted to like this game, but in truth, it is not so hot. Wise cracking Sam isn't remotely funny or amusing. The look of the game is unimpressive and the sound does its job, just. This is the first serious Sam type game I have played and I didn't think much of it.

TRASH IT!

The most fun you'll have with Serious Sam next encounter is as you launch the box and its contents into the nearest trash can. Then for more fun, dig the game out of the trash can and repeat the process over and over until full satisfaction is achieved.

Metroid Prime it isn`t

Just played Serious Sam: Next Encounter on the Game Cube & Metroid Prime it isn't. Serious Sam: Next Encounter is at best shoddy. The game looks very dated and the visuals failed to impress in any way.

There is a certain amount humour contained within Serious Sam: Next Encounter, and believe me you will need a sense of humour as you laugh hysterically at what a bad game this is.

Serious Sam: Next Encounter is without doubt a rent before you buy title.

Too repetitive and simplistic

Serious Sam Next Encounter is repetitive to the point of leaving you thinking why bother. I would not describe the game as fun as such. There is no tension, no real thought required on the part of the player. It all comes down to shooting various creatures, standing you're ground until it is possible to advance forward, then you're find you're back in the same position of holding you're ground shooting more creatures. It wears thin very quickly, too quickly.

Pros:
There really aren't any.

Cons:
Linear Game play.
Not very many different creatures to shoot.
The lands/worlds look very basic/bland.
Weak sound.

Overall Serious Sam can only be described as a simplistic game with not much going for it. Not a game I would recommend.

Disappointed with this one!

What a disappointment this game turned out to be. I have read various reviews in various magazines and formed the opinion that serious Sam next encounter would be alright. Some magazines rated it 4 out of 10 while others went as far as to give this game 7 out of 10. The reality is, I would score this game about 2.5 out of 10. Sam is very limited in what he can do, it really is all about shooting and little else. The graphics are among the lowest quality I have seen. I cannot image anyone buying this and being happy with it.

Serious Sam = One Awful game! - It really is awful, rubbish, useless example of a game. I could go on, but I won't, it's not worth my time.

If you like games with god awful graphics, then buy this. The PS2 was not built for this. Sony doesn't need this running on their hardware. As much as I don't want to bring myself to say it, the Xbox version is so much better, it really is.

Serious Fun

OK! This game does not look the best, but its very fun and controls great. And the online play is awesome! Played for hours and never got tired of it. All the online maps are great. I wish this came with a map editor like Timesplitters did. I bought this game new for only $14.99 and its worth every penny. Now if it was a $50 game then no I would not get it. I never pay $50 for a game anyway. Yes the Xbox Serious Sam 1 looks much better, but it did not have online play. So I don't now whats up with all the bad reviews. It seems to me that most games that cost $20 and below most people hate and think they suck. But I have bought tons of cheap games and just loved them. Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death is another $14.99 game thats great. To bad that game does not have online play. Then it would have been awesome. Anyway, if you have a couple games you don't play anymore then trade them in for this game.

BANG BANG BANG!

This game is sort of like a stress ball. After a hard day at school or work, you can come home to this game and just shoot the crap out of everything. People shouldn't take this game so seriously, because the purpose of this game isn't to be an istant break away hit, it's only 20 bucks folks! The purpose of this game is to appeal to fans that don't want a lot of talk, or even a great storyline, they just want to see stuff blow up, which we all need sometimes. In addition, the weapons make you feel like a bad ass, sam's commentary throughout the game is hilarious, and for a 20 dollar game, the graphics are great. If what you require is a first person shooter masterpiece, well any idiot should know to get Halo, and if you are a ps2 devoute like myself, then check red faction (the first one, not the second), and if your need is a gamecube hit metroid prime is one of the only mentionable gamecube first person shooter!
