Harmless Fun!!

Ahhhhh killing in the Star Wars universe, is there anything more fun? Well besides maybe watching a Star Wars movie that is. Battlefront takes us into the world like Metal of Honor or the actual Battlefront games for PC. Where your life is a rather short one (unless you're lucky), and spawning is a common thing. In this direct assult adventure it's very easy to get lost in the intense battles that are happening all around you. The most impressive fact has to be the multiplayer modes both splitscreen and online as well. Playing either against or with a team or one other player increases the fun ten times fold. I'd say the only draw-back is the limited number of maps. However large they are, there just isn't that many to really make your mouth water. There is a second Star Wars battlefront in the works for November release with a larger number of maps and size as well. So maybe you'd be better off waiting. But in the mean-time you might as well go for this title here. Enjoy!!

This game is sweet!!!! It combines a shooter and a strategy game. In The game you can fight as any trooper you want on any side you want and you can even pick the planet! Star Wars Battlefront is the best game for Star Wars Fans, personally I like it better than the Grand Gheft Auto series

The Best Video Game I've Ever Owned

I know what many of you will say.....best ever? That may be a stretch for you but not for me. I've had this game for months and months and I still play it all of the time. I've never had a game that I literally could not get tired of playing.

There may be games with better AI, better graphics, better this and better that, but in terms of pure fun, there has never been a game I've enjoyed this much.

I've been playing video games since Pong.

I've owned hundreds of games.

The $50 I spent on Battlefront was the best money i ever spent on any kind of entertainment.

Even after all of these months, I can still find a new tactic to try everytime I play. It simply never gets old.

Awesome Game for fans and non-fans of Star Wars

Okay, you may not be a huge Star Wars fan, but still this game is awesome. I went to my friend's house and we played it in two player mode. At first you have to respawn every minute or so. But before long you can rule the battle field. There are two eras you can play in and both are fun. There are so many different troops you can play as you can play for months and not get tired of it.Then there are a ton of battles plus there are battles where you can go in all sorts of ships from tanks to speeder bikes to star fighters. If you are looking for a good game that will last a long time this is it.

Loved it LOVED IT LoVeD IT LoVeD it! A+!!!!!!!

Can't say enough about this game. I love it so much, I've past it four times and still play it.

It's one of the best Playstation 2 games ever made. I think it's the BEST Star Wars game ever made.

The best part of this game is that you can be anything in the game. You can be any of the players you want to be. You can shoot any weapon you like. You can drive/pilot any machine in the game.

I've always loved the huge "At-At's" and wanted to drive one when I was a kid. Now I'm an adult and I've finally gotten to drive one. You can fly X-wing and Y-wing fighters, speeder bikes in the forest, or whatever else you've dreamed of driving/flying.

If you're a Star Wars fan like myself, you need to own this game! It's a must!

I don't know how anyone can rate this game less than five stars.
Thanks for reading!

Star Wars: Battlefront for the PS2 is a wargame that can be played from either first-person or third person view. First let me get the bad points out of the way: there are no outer-space battles, you cannot play as a jedi, the A.I. is hard headed, and the maps are too small for flying vehicles. It should also be noted that this is NOT a mission-based game like, "Halo", so stop comparing every game to "Halo" please! Battlefront plays similar to a Pc game called "Battlefield 1942", you CAN compare it to that game. You can win the game by capturing all command posts (territories) or killing all enemy units on the map. You play as a grunt soldier in the frontlines of all the epic battles seen in Star Wars films (including Tattooine, Hoth, Endor, Naboo and much more!) Before you begin battle you pick from four different army factions: Clones, Republic, CIS, and Rebels. Then you pick the soldier type you want to be: rifleman (rapid fire blaster), pilot (can repair and dispense medkits to soldiers), missle launcher (bazooka), sniper (long distance zoom killer), and commando (special unit). Most soldier class carry primary and secondary weapons and a couple of grenades. Everytime you get killed you can respawn and choose a different soldier type. You can travel by foot or ride in vehicles if available. Almost all of the vehicles from the Star Wars universe are in this game! Even the monsterous AT-AT! You'll be fighting alongside an army of A.I. controlled soldiers. There's lasers, missiles, and grenades exploding everywhere! The battles are intense, chaotic and a lot of fun! It looks and feels just like the movies! If you like FPS or wargames, BF 1942 or the Star Wars universe get this game! Its a dream come true!

Pros:
+intense battles
+lots of weapons and vehicles
+lots of maps
+excellent graphics and animation
+excellent sound effects
+excellent music
+co-op or versus gameplay
+xbox live multiplayer
+good A.I. BOTS

Cons:
-you cannot play as a jedi
-maps are too small
-no outer-space battles
-A.I. disobeys orders
-lacks game mode variety
-gets repetative

I also played the Xbox version; the graphics are just a tad
more crip, have a higher framerate and the game loads faster.

This is the best PS2 game I have ever played (better than NCAA2005 and Socom). Sweet graphics and sweet gameplay.
The online features are very cool, but there are challenges connecting initially (as another review pointed out).
It is way better than Socom II for online play in the respect that those people with Mics can all talk to each other without hitting a button (and with the computer adding people to both teams, it is really more than 8 vs 8, it is like 150 vs 150).

This game had such high hopes. Unfortunately it was rushed out to coincide with the release of the trilogy on DVD. The major draw is, of course, online play. Online play however is truly awful. The PS2 version is totally handicapped by a poor online lobby. You can only see about 6-7 games at a time and you can't scroll down fast enough to choose one. The PC games shouldn't even be listed since you're on a PS2. Why? It just clogs up the lobby. And I'm not a big fan of gamespy anyway, so that's 2 strikes. You can only play against 3 other human players, so you may as well play single player. Oh well. Do yourself a favor and rent this one or wait until it's only 20 bucks or so. This really hammers home the point that George Lucas only cares about the greenbacks.

Great Game

Star Wars BF is a great game, one of the best games available right now. It's best suited for online play and is a nice respite from Socom II which can be overly complicated. Star Wars BF is challenging, take skills, but is easier to play. I play both but right now find it to be more fun. True the combat can be very chaotic and random at time but hey it's just a videogame and you spawn back right away. 5 STARS!!!!

Still not sure

Although not as good as other reviewers are making it out to be (for god sake, do you guys get a percentage of the profits?), this is still a great game. It's not a five-star game, but lots of options, many different battle areas, mixed with some already existing loyalty to the name, and you've got something pretty fun, definitely worth owning. I still haven't beaten it yet, so take that into account, but so far so good.
