Star Wars BattleFront

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 5 / 43

All Right, I know that this game hasn't came out yet, but it should be good. Star Wars Battle is another World War 1 game with one thing different. Star Wars. Controll a character through different Star WArs environments. Including Hoth, Dagaba and Tatooen. I can't wait for this game to come out.

Battlefield Star Wars

Four stars (or better) is actually what I'm hoping this game will get considering it hasn't come out yet. This game has the potential to be the best Star Wars game ever. That is, if you don't care too much about Jedi. Basically, this game is like Battlefield 1942 for the PC. You get to fight in all the great battles from all six movies. That's right, I said six movies. This means not only will you get to play as the rebels and the imperials, but you get to play as the republic and the sepratists too! The will also feature at least one planet from Episode III! There are a total of ten planets to battle on and sixteen different maps meaning that some planets will have more than one map. As a soldier for one of the four armies, you'll have five different types of soldiers to choose from. You'll have the regular infantry, the vehicle killers, the pilots, the snipers, and a special type. There should be a total of twenty different weapons. The planets I'm 100% sure will be featured are: Hoth, Tatoonie, Naboo, Endor, Yavin IV, Cloud City, Kamino, and Geonosis. The part I'm most excited about is not the battle on foot but the battle on vehicles. There will be about thirty different vehicles to take down enemies with. While you are on Hoth, you can get a buddy (AI or human player) and go lasso some AT-ATs. I can't wait for Star Wars Battlefront to come out.

Review Based on Playstation 2 Demo (Endor)

I've played the Endor demo and I can say with 100% conviction that Star Wars Battlefront will be THE must have game of the year. John Williams' music is there in all its glory as well as all the Star Wars visuals and sound effects. Intuitive controls, excellent framerate, and killer graphics and animation makes this the most addictive demo I've ever played. It's a rush to go from running to driving a 'chicken walker' to manning a ground-mounted gun to flying a speeder bike. A bonus is being able to set the game as a 1st person or third person shooter -- both work great. I only found one bug in the demo (my character sunk to his knees as I ran up a large tilting log (though I regained my feet when I reached the top))-- everything else was first-rate. This is really stacking up to be a fantastic game. I've been defeated every single time, but I'm ready to go back to the forest for another round anytime.
Anyway, a little preview based on the demo.

Star Wars in a Battlefield 1942 style

Great action game! You get to play Star Wars characters in a tactical action game like EA's Battlefield 1942. I played the PS2 version and loved it. It is great to try all of the different characters from the original trilogy as well as the Clone Wars era.

You can control many characters including Wookies, Storm Troopers, Rebels, Pilots, etc. Characters have differing abilities, of course, which helps dictate your strategy.

You can also control many cool vehicles like the speeder bike, AT-ST and more. Best of all is the online play, which is available on ALL versions (PS2, Xbox, PX).

If you like Star Wars or you like BF1942, get this one!

After an hours worth of play...

I just got this game today and have only played it for about an hour. It is NOT for the impatient. You do not have the flexibility to really choose whatever character/vehicle you want from each of the battles (you get a few to select from). And you can't just choose any battles you want. Some of the battles are unique to the game only and did not appear in the movies. The controls are not intuitive. The control directions in the instruction manual are printed black on black and are difficult to read. Over all, I'd say it's an average game. I don't see myself spending hours playing it, like the Lord of the Rings games.

Online is Addictive

I actually took the day off from work yesterday, just so I could get the game and play it for hours (before the wife got home from work).I know, I know, I'm a geek.
Anyway, I've only played it online against other players. It's really a lot of fun. It's definitely a thrill running away, on foot, from another player piloting one of the many air vehicles. Watching him whiz by overhead, sure to attempt another fly-by, you have to really think on your feet. Do you keep zig-zagging between rocks and buildings, hoping to lose him? Do you jump into a turret to try and shoot him down? Do you take aim with your blaster rifle? Do you try to escape on a speed bike? Do you jump into another air vehicle and attempt to battle him in the skies? These are all choices you have the ability to make.
Another choice you have to make is what type of soldier you want to be. You have the normal all-around type soldier, a pilot-type soldier (better at piloting vehicles than the other types), a sniper/sharpshooter, a "big guns" soldier (useful for taking out large vehicles), and then there is the one unique soldier to each faction.
The gameplay is amazing, the replayability is high, the graphics are as good as you can ask for, fun factor is so high, I was actually giggling the first few times I played it. Then again, I'm just a geek.

This game had such high hopes. Unfortunately it was rushed out to coincide with the release of the trilogy on DVD. The major draw is, of course, online play. Online play however is truly awful. The PS2 version is totally handicapped by a poor online lobby. You can only see about 6-7 games at a time and you can't scroll down fast enough to choose one. The PC games shouldn't even be listed since you're on a PS2. Why? It just clogs up the lobby. And I'm not a big fan of gamespy anyway, so that's 2 strikes. You can only play against 3 other human players, so you may as well play single player. Oh well. Do yourself a favor and rent this one or wait until it's only 20 bucks or so. This really hammers home the point that George Lucas only cares about the greenbacks.

Star Wars Battles Done Right

Let me start by saying that I really have to take issue with some of the recent negative reviews of this game. First of all this is not Star Wars SOCOM nor does it try to be. This game is a straight team action shooter so just forget any slams that say it doesn't live up to SOCOM. It doesn't because SOCOM is a different genre. Second, another reviewer said that he got tired of the game after playing for 5 hours everyday. I'm sorry but if you play any game that much, it will get old!! Other reviewers have stated that the game is too easy. The game has adjustable levels and defaults to the easiest. Bump the level up in the options menu and you'll be crying like a wookie and throwing your controller quite often.

Honestly this is one of the best Star Wars titles I've seen in years. This game does exactly what it says it does. It provides true to life simulations of the large scale battles from the Star Wars saga. Pretty much every trooper class and major vehicle is represented in the game as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each.

The only negative side of this game is perhaps the small number of game modes (a whopping 2, historical campaign and galactic conquest). The game is easy to pick-up which makes it accessible to anyone but exciting and detailed enough to hold even the most hardcore gamer's attention. If you are even a casual Star Wars fan pick this one up. You won' regret it. .

the best game ever made!!!

the replay value is out the window!

which it should be.
you have seen the movies right?

lasers flying everywhere!
everything exploding!
you dont even have to be good at it to have fun.
the loading time is very good.so are the graghics. and the sound. when you die you can pic the type of guy you want to use or a different one instantly and rejoin the game in the same amount of time.
i myself am addicted and i have not even played on x box live yet!

i think this game looks awesome!!!! i love the other games and all but i think this one gives you much more freedom and action/adventure than the other games. In games like starwars:bouty hunter you were allways restrected to one small area. like kotor this game gives you whole planets to explore. but... now you can acually be in the battles!!!! in kotor you could only be engaged for small amounts of time on small numbers of enemies. but in this game you can acually be in the huge battles like in THE CLONE WARS movie. i defenatlly recommed this game to any gamer.
