Fans Of The Series Will Like This Game

A lot of the Simpsons games have been bad immitations of other games, such as The Simpsons Skatboarding or Road Rage which were immitations of Tony Hawk and Crazy Taxi. This game (which I think the fans have been waiting for) is a GTA clone. And a surpriseingly good one, too. The fans will have an awesome time. They will see characters, places, and more from the show. The story was done by the actual writters of the show and they put the real voice-actors from the show in there, too. The cars handle well with the D-pad but can feel weird with the analog stick. The humor is funny, too. They got the voice-actors to say some pretty hilarous stuff if you crash or run too long. It's funny, but can get repeative. I do have some complaints. The camera when you are on foot can get wonky if you are near an object or building, and the missions later in the game require you to have very good memorization of the area. So restarting your current mission for the 15th time because you forget there is a left turn is very annoying. Overall, this game will please the fans and the causal gamer, but hardcore gamers are better off getting an actual GTA game. 3 out of 5 for me.

Grand Theft Auto: Springfield

Saying "the best Simpsons video game" used to be kind of like saying "the best-smelling sewer" ... the franchise had consistently horrible play control and graphics, terrible game design, and no real understanding of the Simpsons characters or why anyone would want to step into their shoes. Above all, it never seemed to occur to them that, rather than just copying popular games and sticking the Simpsons into them, they should find a genre actually appropriate for the characters.

Well, Simpsons Hit & Run still doesn't quite give you the experience of "playing an episode" that the fans really want, but it's as close as they're likely to get.

Strange security cameras have appeared all over Springfield, and the Simpson family is drawn by a series of coincidences into investigating them. As Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and for some reason Apu explore the city, they find that the whole town is going crazy, and it's up to them to stop it. The investigation consists of several chapters, each chapter consisting of a variety of missions for the same character. These missions usually (but not always) involve skillfully driving a variety of vehicles through the streets of Springfield, either racing the clock, collecting objects, or forcing an enemy vehicle to stop.

If this sounds a little familiar, it's because it is. This is the Simpsons version of Grand Theft Auto (and, thus, a great alternative for parents who are looking for a version of that game that doesn't involve selling drugs and murdering people). The Simpsons still steal cars pretty freely, but it's for the good of the town, and running someone over or wreaking too much havoc results in an unwelcome visit from Police Chief Wiggum.

The good side? The game's playable, fun, and it's the first Simpsons game that kind of makes you feel like you're actually in Springfield interacting with these characters. The control is good both on foot and in the car, and the mystery actually makes a lot of sense. It's also fun to see Springfield landmarks going by, and to notice all the references to classic episodes. You can get hilarious new outfits for many characters, and even take time between missions to find other Easter eggs.

The bad side? Some missions are repetitive and annoying, and you can fail at them due to pure bad luck. You're allowed to skip missions, but doing so also skips the cinemas that follow them, leaving gaps in the story. The game is also fairly short, and because each section of Springfield is cut off from the rest it feels less like a single town and more like four separate towns. Certain places that I was really looking forward to fooling around in (like Moe's) are also surprisingly empty and lackluster. A lot of the cars, too, are boring and too similar to one another -- unlike GTA they weren't restricted to reality, and I expected these vehicles to handle much more differently from each other than they do.

Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a less brutal (or easier) version of Grand Theft Auto, or to any Simpsons fan. This is as close as they've ever come to letting us step into the TV and be part of an episode.

I think this is the greatest simpsons game yet. Road Rage was okay, and Simpsons Skateboarding Was the worst!! But Hit and Run is exteremly good. 50 missions, and cars from the first game and some extras that you thought would never be in a simpsons game. This game tops all the diving games, plus some halarious jokes by the characters. I bought the game in 2003, and I've betten is only once. The bad thing about this, is that the characters NEVER SHUT-UP!!!! The character you play in as in order is Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Apu, Bart again, then Homer again. This is a great game for a gift, or just to burn a whole in your pocket for some fun. What are you doing? Don't just sit their, get out your cretit card and by this game!!

BEST SIMPSONS GAME EVER!

This is seriously the best simpsons game ever. I've been playing simpson games since the Nintendo. But out of all of them this proves to be the best. It has a GTA style gameplay but with awesome familer simpson environments. You can stop in the Quick-E-Mart or go into the simpson household. You can unlock cool raceing mini games which you can do multile players on. The graphics are the best for a simpsons title. The driveing is good and it has some pretty funny stuff in it. You hav to do stuff in the town called gags and some of them are just plain funny. You also collect cards, you do missions and even bonus missions. You also have to kill these bee cameras so there's quite of bit of stuff to do. There are only like 4 different types of missions like raceing, running somebody down, get stuff to check point a to check point b and stuff like that. You play as Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Apu and they have there own environment in springfield so you see everything. Definitly check this title out if you even slightly like the simpsons. This game is definitly a good buy, and trust me it's way better then simpsons skateboarding.

This is a great game! I would REALLY recomend it to anyone who loves the Simpsons. You can play through 7 levels and play as Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Apu, Bart, and Homer IN THAT ORDER. The game does get kinda boring after a while but i would still buy it anyday!

Great addition to your Simpsons Collection

This game is so much fun and addicting. It's like watching episodes of the series. I have to admit, though, there are times where you get tired of trying to find every single item on the map, but, you are rewarded. I like that you can go back to an early level if you missed something and just wanted to move on. Very nice. Characters are great, voices wonderful, graphics very nice, everything in this game is wonderful. And I thought Road Rage was one to beat!! My suggestion is that if you are a true Simpsons fan, you'll like this game, if you are a gamer who is into driving or adventure, well, it may not satisfy your taste. Note: Driving your cars are much more difficult in this version than in Road Rage. Frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's better.

A Simpsons game that is actually go-diddly-od?

If you look at many a Simpsons game since the show started, they've been pretty awful. Such "classics" as Bart's Nightmare and Simpsons Skateboarding are just some of the games that are in the catalogue. So finally we have an actually good Simpsons game, if only for a few snafus.

Story: It's hard to detail the story without giving so much away but basically there's something wrong with Springfield and it involves mysterious black vans and Buzz Cola and these flying bee cameras. It only gets nuttier from there.

Graphics: It was strange looking at Bart and Homer in 3D from the Halloween episode so when everybody looks like that, it's even more strange. But it matches the show's tone with Springfield broken up into 3 sections.

Sound/Music: You get the classic theme by Danny Elfman and other pieces of music that you might've heard from the show. The voice actors reprise all their roles which gives everything a feeling of authenticity and something familiar.

Gameplay: Best way to describe it is kind of GTA-meets-Simpsons. Springfield is divided into 3 sections: first includes the Simpsons House, the Kwik-E-Mart, Springfield Elementary and the Old's Folks Home, the Trailer Court, the Rich/Poor area codes, Mr. Burns castle and the Nuclear Power Plant. 2nd area includes Krusty Burger, Moe's, the Arena, the Movie Theatre and City Hall. 3rd area includes Burns casino, Krusty Studios, Camp Krusty, the Duff Factory, and the Comic Book Store and Bowl-A-Rama.

The player controls 5 characters(Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Apu) and they have story based missions. Also in the level is races, hidden vehicles by doing a secret mission, collector's cards like the hidden packages from GTA and the bee cameras.

The story missions can be quite frustrating. One particular mission has you destroying close to 30 street stands then making it back to Krusty Studios within a small time limit and you barely get close to the Studios before your time runs out. The traffic doesn't help either or the rather shoddy steering. Another mission has you literally dashing from the Nuclear Power Plant to Springfield Elementary in at least a minute and it's quite a long ride.

However, like a weird addiction, you just wanna keep going no matter how angry you get.

So COOL!

I always wanted to get out of my car in road rage and i'm also too young for GTA so i bought this game. overall it is the best simpsons game i have ever played. Simpsons Skateboarding was so much of a copy of Tony Hawk and i also love the tony hawk games so i did'nt like that game. Road Rage was awesome but you could'nt get out of your car.And i'm not a fan of wrestling so this game was perfect for me (im a REALLY big simpsones fan).
