Of all the Simpsons games I've ever seen, Hit and Run is by far the best.
Not only can you drive in classic Simpson vehicles, you can also walk around famous Springfield locations- Krustylu Studios, Springfield elementary and the Duff Brewery.
There a heaps of missions, more than enough challenging races and heaps of laughs -"Beaten by harmless radiation, so very harmless"
If these graphics were used on any other game there would e outrage, but for a Simpson game, it works. Whatsmore, the explosions and movies are fantastic.
If you liked GTA Vice City, but would prefer it to have less death and decapitations, get this.
Evenif you liked the death and decapitations, get this.

Good but room for Improvement

This game is good from a graphical sound point of view but the gameplay lacks a little.

You will like this game for it's true to the character representation but the controls and missions could use a bit of improvement.

From a control point of view character and vehicle control are a little cumbersome. The camera movement does not follow your character it more or less looks at it. so you can actually run towards the camera but not see where you are going. Often this problem affects gameplay because you are trying to make a particular move and then all of a sudden the camera point of view changes due to other objects being in the way you lose control over your character.

The missions are alright but kinda all the same. Races, chases and collecting things. I think the game would be more successful as a strategy game rather than first person "run around" type. Missions that more reflected the stories of the simpsons. Really in the show how often do you see bart running around springfield aimlessly or driving cars?

As alot of people have noted this is almost the same game is Grand Theft Auto minus the violence and it is. Except there isn't really even a story.

This is the best game ever!

Graphics:4

Overall:4

This game's sweet. You can play as Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Apu. The only bad thing is it is kind of hard. I get stuck on some missions, but eventually beat them. I am stuck on the last mission in the whole game. There are 7 levels with 7 missions in each. You can get awsome cars like the Ferinni, Open Wheel Race Car, 70's Sport Car, WW2 vehicle, Tractor, Plow King, Sedans, Electauros, Canyonero, Malibu Stacy Car, School Bus, Police Car, Car Built for Homer, Globex Super Villian Car, Longhorn, Hover Car, Hover Bike, Family Sedan, Mr. Burns' Limo, Clown Car, Limo, Krusty's Limo, Rocket Car, Armoured Truck, Hearse, Zombie Car, Bandit, and more. You can get out of your car and kick people, but they annoying thing is, you get Hit & Run in missions. Hit and Run is where you hit too many things and the cops come after you. You can escape, but if you get caught, you have to pay 50 coins. I like Lisa's world the best because it has this HUUUUUGGGGEEEE ramp and you go flying. In Homer's second world, there's this big UFO and if you go in it's green laser, your car gets sucked up into it and blows up.
I think this is the best Simpsons game yet!

I may have given it a 4, but I want to get my point across...Simpsons Road Rage is better. It just is. It's simpler and more bang for your buck.
Now, when I say 'simpler' I don't mean that it's any less of a game, it's just less complicated. I also am led to believe that the steering/handling was better on Road Rage too. It's VERY loose in this game.
When I first placed this game in the disc slot on my PS2, I thought it would just be a modified and updated version of Road Rage. (I'm not a cover-reader) But apparently I was wrong.
You're probably thinking, 'Well, what the heck is it? I'm dying to know'? well, or maybe 'Kid, just finish up the darned review I really don't care.' But if you're the slightest bit interested, read on.
What it IS..In a way, yes, it IS like Road Rage. There's the same idea, Crashing Into Stuff And Reaking Havoc With Cars, hence the two titles, and the cars are pretty much alike, but instead of the 'Crazy Taxi' objective, you're job is to complete missions. Like 'Destroy all the cell phone users cars before time runs out' and 'Beat Smithers to [someones] mansion'.
The graphics are pretty much the same, there's the same loading time there's the same Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, etc. The only thing different is the objective of the game. So, this IS A GOOD GAME, don't get me wrong, but it's not MY personal pick. My main point is, judge on which objective you like better, not what year the game was manufactured.

A blatant GTA rip-off

The Simpsons video-game license has languished in the ý[crummy] exploitationý category for so long that itýs easy to expect another bland hack-job to sully the reputation of televisionýs finest show. But lo and behold, this time something went rightýeven the Comic Book Guy would be stoked. No matter how the developers try to position it (mission-based driving?), Hit and Runýs gameplay is virtually identical to that of the Grand Theft Auto series, right down to the wanted meter and button assignments. Missions have you speeding around Springfield collecting items, racing against NPCs, or preventing Smithers from getting to work on time. Often, youýll have to jump out and do platformy things like collect coins or jump from ledge to inaccessible ledge. Zany cut-scenes and well-timed quips keep the pace brisk, while the large maps provide ample opportunities for exploration. The music and voice acting are flawless, and the vibrant, cartoony graphics bring Springfield to spectacular life. For all its charms, there are a few problems. At its root, Hit and Run is merely a scaled-back Simpsons-themed GTA clone and lacks true innovation. The sound levels are inconsistent, requiring constant fiddling with the volume. During platform-based missions, the controls fall apart, and the camera gets stuck too easily. In the car, the map display is practically useless. And finally, the missions are bipolar: either incredibly easy or insanely difficult. Smithers is a boss for cryiný out loud! Still, the deeper your Simpsons lore runs, the more references youýll spot and the more youýll enjoy Hit and Run. Whether piloting Chester J. Lampwickýs rocket car or harvesting tomacco with the Plow King, The Simpsons Hit and Run is the outstanding game that fans knew the show could become. MmmmmmýSacrelicious!

Frustrating

If you're a Simpsons fan, you'll obviously like the game because, hey, it's the Simpsons. You can't go wrong with that. If you're not a fan though, you probably won't be reading this anyways...

SO yes it's cool because it's the Simpsons and there are actual missions on this game. Missions are actually ok; there is some flexibility in being able to skip them; some flexibility as to which character you are. All of these are good things.

The chief complaint I have is that this game is too hard (or maybe I just suck really badly). Missions are beatable but they take forever. My friend and I took turns getting frustrated and passing the controller to each other. A Beginner/Easy Skill Level would have been nice. So it's frustratingly difficult which really takes away from the fun of it all. I wouldn't buy it for that reason - rent it and see how you do at it (or in my case, don't do at it) first.

This is a great game! You will never regret buying this. Play as Homer, Bart, and other great characters from the game. The graphics have defiantly improved and the gamepaly is extremely exciting. The first missions are very easy untill you get up to the higher levels. I am currenlty stuck on the collect the 30 monkeys in under 3 minutes. It is very fun just to rampage through the game with destroying everything insight if you are fed up with the missions. I do warn you though, you have to keep a strict eye on your hit&run meter which goes up when you hit things after you meter gets into the red zone the police start to chase after you. But what is the point in knocing things over then you ask. Well first off they make the cars very hard to control when going at high speeds and secondly when you knock things over you get coins which let you buy things, (such as clothes for Homer and for if you get caught by the police where you half to pay a 50 coin fine. The story line is pretty dumb but that doesn't really matter with this game. I do warn you though, do not get this game for PC unless you are an admin otherwise you cant save your game. This is the best of all Simpson games with more things to knock over and better motives for tasks.
