The Movie Comes To Life, In Your Fingertips!

I stumbled across this game on the IGN website and read great reviews about it. I have been and still am a huge fan of the GTA series, and this game seemed very similar to it. I took a chance and ordered it from Amazon. The next day, I went to Best Buy, and to my surprise found the actual movie. I brought it because it was so cheap and ran home to watch to, to try to get some background for the game. I fell in LOVE with the movie! It is by far one of the best movies of all time, but this review is about the game. The game arrived about a day or two after me seeing the movie. I popped it in and got hooked from the moment I hit the start button. The characters are so detailed and the plot is almost identical to the movie. I felt as if I took control of everyone in the movie to have events happen that I wish could have happened in the movie. The movie and game are worth buying!

Best bit of media violence I've ever played

My dad recently got this game for me from BB and, after playing it non-stop all week, I can say it really is a fantastic piece of violent beat-em up action.

At first I wasn't really interested in the game, I mean, I'd never even heard of the film (even though a lot of school mates had talked about it), but my dad insisted I buy this. He even argued with the shop attendant when he wouldn't sell me it due to the mature rating.

Once I got home, my dad went off to send some more emails to his friend and I got on with playing this great game.

I really love how you can beat up anybody and mug anybody. It really gives you that freedom that I like from GTA (another present from my dad), but also has some great missions.

After about 6 hours my dad told me to turn off whatever I was doing as it was dinner time. He jokingly took away my knife and folk at the table just in case the game had made me violent, lol.

Anyway, my final word is that this is a fantastic game, and if you love beating people up then this is the one for you.

Dad's now getting me to pre-order Bully online. I can't wait for that one.

Over all, this isn't a bad game. However, this certainly isn't up to par with the GTA series.

Graphics: Can't hold a candle to Quake4, but it's sufficient. Lip movement is comical, but over all character models aren't bad.

Environment: Lots of interactivity. Throw anything from garbage cans, to bricks, bottles and other assorted debris at your foes.

Fighting: Lots of fun! There are plenty of combos to keep you busy, and never a shortage of foes to pound on.

Camera Single: Over all, not bad. However, it isn't uncommon for the camera angle to be disabled, leaving you with a view many feet away from you. This is commonplace during boss fights, I suppose having trouble seeing is suppose to add to the difficulty? Also, something about running north, but looking south rubs me the wrong way too.

Camera Multiplayer: Perhaps on a wide screen TV this might be better, but 2 player verticle split on a standard leaves you lost and feeling disconnected. This is probably the worst aspect of this game. Your view is limited to about 3x your chars width, so locating the friend your playing with can be rough. Why they don't allow you to disable this is beyond me.

AI: Good in the beginning, moronic by the end. Commonly you'll be fighting 5vs5 and 4 of your guys are on one enemy while the other 4 enemies are on you. Help? They also have a tendency to stand around, or randomly die when they shouldn't be. And no, you can't leave them behind. Time to mug and steal to get $20 to revive them. This also skews the whole "hiding in the shadows" deal because its common that while your in the dark hiding, they'll be bsing and when they finally decide to join you, they bring a load of foes with them.

Over all: Great game and storyline, though fighting gets a bit redundant by the 15th level. Most games I can beat straight through no problems, however, this time I'm going to be taking a break. Variety seems to be absent.

Rockstar is a joke

I sincerely believe that Rockstar Games is quite possibly the cheapest video game company in the industry today.

Example:

-The Junkyard where you rescue Lance Vance in GTA: Vice City is 99% the same thing as a level in Manhunt.
-Dialogue in The Warriors was lifted from Manhunt, but with different voices.

The game itself is, basically, a rockstar game. Boring controls, mediocre gameplay, decent voice-acting, which again is repetitive (when tagging the Destroyers turf one of your fello gang members spits the same line about 6 or 7 times.)

Thus far, Rockstar games is 1 for, well, i don't know how many they've made, but Manhunt is their only good game.

The movie was great. I am looking forward to the game when it comes out. Hope it will be on xbox as well. Looking at the game Red Dead Revoler. I know rockstar will not let us down.

Opinions differ but I didn't like it

I think the whole idea of The Warriors with vests and funny afros, bandanas, baseball uniforms... is just silly. Warlord looks like one of those guys who throws a towel over his head because he's gonna do yard work. Add all this to an imaginary world of gangsters who don't use guns and you have a very silly beatem up game. I have trouble distinguishing the difference between this and State of Emergency.

When in cooperative mode, the game play splits into two screens and everything gets a lot smaller. The camera gets confusing and the game looses any atmosphere it's supposed to have. In the end I just remember running around in circles fetching for items in these mini like city portions. I just didn't like it, if you want a violent atmospheric game, I recommend Manhunt also from Rockstar games. A game I personally thought was underrated.

well let's see... it's a rockstar game.. yep, it's a rockstar game.

how many games have rockstar made? i don't know, but it seems like it never ends. the godfather, grand theft auto, bully... all the same damn game with different graphics and different stories. the warriors mixes it up *a little* by focusing on the close melee combat. unfortunately, the melee combat isn't nearly as fun when you're playing it as it looks in those screenshots. it doesn't help that there's a lot of gangsters on the screen at the same time, making it hard to see who are your buddies and who you should be beating up.

as in every other lame rockstar game, the controls are too complicated (read: easy to forget). there's a different control scheme for everything from picking a lock to busting down gates to.. you name it. the problem is (like in grand theft auto) there's no quick reference or reminder on the screen to tell you the controls. so i'm sitting there with a full "rage meter" and can't remember how to use it. this game isn't worth sifting through the controls in options to learn how to do something. now if it was ninja gaiden, it would be worth looking up.. but this is certainly no ninja gaiden!

the good: good graphics, good storyline, great dialog and style. unfortunately, it's a bunch of style and some pretty boring repetitive gameplay. even super mario bros. 1 had more variety than just punching and kicking. yawn. i'll be skipping anything that says "rockstar games" on it for the rest of my life. they never really make anything new or exciting.

ITS A GOOD GAME FOR ADULTS

I must say for a Kid this is not a game for them. Like all rockstar games there for the Adults. Its got very bad language in it. Everything from a person trying to Rape a girl and all that. I must say all and all this game sucks. I was a fan of the Movie and rented this game. I got it played the tutorial and then it got down to the game. It was all and all Bad with Play bad the camera gets lost at times with you losing your player, then you have the Bad moral behind the game. F-word used to much. Sex offered to much. This day and age has brought out the worste in people. I had Pacman growing up he ate dots and ghosts now the kids are playing games where they go out and steal and kill people gives a great understanding to LIFE.
