i love this game but graophics could be better. cross-country is over natural fences and come on give me a break?! steeple chase is like a race (eg-kentucky derby)but with jumps not in the forest. i also don't like that you can't go past kingswood and there are onoly two stallions, and odd ansester names, speeling and the people look fake big time. and how come melissa never gets worst that a second? there should be more horses and the hieghts are way off. 15.7!!!!!!?????????!?!?!?! that would actually be 16.3
nowe onto the good stuff. i love the two stalion Cocktail and Diamond.the compitions are fun and i like to di stable chores and take care of my horses.

don't get me wrong this is a godd game and take the advice i'm a horse noit all!

THE LEGACY

OK, I'll start with the bad points:
-Has obviously been made by someone who knows little or nothing about horses; 15.7 hands? I don't think so buddy. There are only FOUR inches in a hand for goodness sakes!
-The horses are supposed to be different, with different temperaments, speeds, riding difficulty and so on. but you know what? Apart from colour, they're all exactly the same, maybe some slightly slower than others, but that's it.
-You are given different details on what to feed the horse. But it's always the same flat, grainy stuff you tip into the manger from 3 feet away.
-You can only practise one of the five courses in-game, the others you have to exit to the menu.
-You get the horses geneological table. One horse has an ancestor called 'Happy Cloud'. Whah?
-The stable chores get VERY repetitive.
-You get tasks set, you can either agree to do them or decline. Even if you agree, you don't actually have to do them to advance.
-Contins quotes such as 'I hope you haven't forgotten to feed your horse?' DUH!
-Refusals only come about if you misjudge distance or angle hugely. No problem with speed, or jumping it about a foot from the jump, or whatever. Sigh.... Sometimes you can get over doubles in one jump.
Good points:

-For a while it is quite fun and great if you don't own a horse, because you have to do all the chores and responsibilities.
-Er.......

COMPETITIONS

Frankly , it is dull and boring. The graphics are bad, horses jump ten feet high and twice as long, though differing just when you don't want it to. All you do is gallop around blotchy countryside, or build a repetitive course in blotchy countryside.

DIAMOND MYSTERY

This is quite good, but I found I neede the website walkthrough to get some of the abstract and random clues. Nothing to do with horses, which somewhat annoyed me. Annie, your sister and the character played in the 2 other games, and formerly training to be an eventer and swedish american, now has a different voice, works in a diner and constantly says 'Tell me!'
The mystery is neatly worked out though and the people are more convincing than in the LEGACY. The network of streets and buildings is quite complex and fun to look around and not all-american, which is pleasing.

CONCLUSION: If you are gonna play this every day, don't waste your money, because you are just going to get bored. If you are only going to check in once in a few days or so you could consider it, but all in all I'd stay away and save your money for a better game.

Decent game

Okay, I'm a rider for starters. The game is most definately not made by people who know about horses. It is very unrealistic - you can dump food in the fodder box from across the stall, you can sweep stuff out of the aisle while amazingly far away from it, you can fill the food bucket without being near the food box, and it's generally just - as I said - not realistic. Despite this, the graphics are okay, and despite what other people have said, the character and horses are extremely easy to control. I also have never experienced trouble loading. Maybe their computers just don't work as well or something, but I know that on my typical Windows 98 computer, it loads like a charm and the characters move even better. The plot is somewhat lackluster, but it's a fun game, which would be great if it was just more realistic.

I like this game. It's fun..... I mean, sure Steeple-chase is on a race-track, guys...NOT in the middle of the woods!
Okay, the Show-Jumping is fine...there are rarely hard obstacles, and it kind of gives you a challenge....
The Cross-Country....hmm....okay, I know A LOT about eventing, and the whole point of Cross-Country is that you and your horse jump over...let's say natural objects.
The horses are okay. You start off by riding Alpha...I'm telling you!! When you get the chance, try to get Cocktail or Barbie to try to beat Melissa's horse, Comet.
Horse-lovers??This is a MUST-BUY!!! Take it from me...I have every inch of my room covered in horses!!

Fun.

This game is a lot of fun. I've replayed it about 3 times but now I'm playing The Saddle Club Willowbrook Stables game. (which I'm stuck in email me kyohorse@aol.com if you know it). Anyway, the Legacy of Rosemond Hill is really awesome. If you know and ride horses, as I do, it can be a bit silly and annoying sometimes. For instance, they say some heights of horses which are impossible, they let you turn out your horse with its bridle on, the bridle never has reins, your saddle goes on without a blanket. Also the other characters just walk around and talk really repeditively, you can never use the ointment you get, and the other characters don't ever even ride there horses. Some of the characters horses don't even show up in the stable. There really should be more horses there. And the horses you get (max. of 3) are already named with stupid names, and they say they have personalities, but once you get those horses, they don't. But otherwise, if you can go without these things bothering you, which I did... its pretty fun. I recomend it.

I bought this game a couple years ago, and I recently had to throw it out! It won't run on my Dell 98 desktop or my Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop anymore. :( I was never able to play the Champion Season on the desktop, but on the laptop the graphics where HORRIBLE!
The game was really fun, and it I would rate it a 5 if not for the malfunctions! I love being able to pick horses!
A tip, if you win 1st place you get a couple more horses to choose from, then if you just won 2nd or 3rd!
The graphics where ok, and the riding was tons of fun!

A Great Game!

This is a good game, but it has some weird little things you'll find in it.
First thing: When you muck out you have to go outside in a little fenced-out yard and empty your wheelbarrow. Then, when you try to get back in, it takes a LOOOOOOOOONG time to get back in because the game jiggles up the screen and jars up the person you're controlling, Annie. (I was a little disappointed to find you couldn't make your own character, but this is such a great game you can't really be too disappointed for long.)
Second thing: Misspelled words. They misspell words such as "showel" (shovel), "absoloutely" (absolutely), they don't capitalize "Annie" in the Readme file, "pos" (pose), "usefull" (useful), and they also have weird grammar (i.e. a comma in the sentences sprinkled in here and there randomly.). These
things aren't that bad, they're just kind of annoying when they keep spelling things crazily. Another thing: The veterinarian during competitions says, "Let me check out your horse, I won't be long, and see weather the steeplechase has caused any injuries." "Weather"? Don't they mean "whether"? Oh well. You can sort of ignore these things; they're not so bad anyway.
Third thing: Competitions Are Hard. I haven't even gotten past the second one yet. Oh, and also, if you lose the competition you lose all of your horses that you won in past competitions, except Alpha (who is very slow and boring, except at first you might like him), I saw that mentioned in another review too.
I REALLY like this game, and if you like horses you will too. HINT: Go into your horse's stall and see which picture on the bottom of the screen is flashing. This is what you need to do to keep your horse healthy.
When you're riding, you have to be careful; there is a picture of your horse's heart in the corner, and if it beats too fast your horse rears up. You have to keep an eye on this.
This game is VERY realistic, and the only trouble I have with it is that sometimes the screen goes black and you have to restart the whole computer. That's my only problem. Otherwise, this game works perfectly.
A thing I like about this game is that you actually have to put everything in its proper place before finishing a chore, you have to remember where everything is, and sometimes you have to help another character out. Something that makes the game more interesting is that you can actually interact with other characters in the game and that there are two pastures. I always put my horses in the farthest one from the stable, because I always see Melissa nearby my new horse, Amadeus, and she always just dumps Comet in the pasture and then hangs around your horses. She's also very rude. I don't really like her much. I also like this game because the horses are already pre-named, you don't have to try to find the perfect name for your horse, you already have it right there. I also like choosing my new horse after winning a competition. You really have to earn your horses; you can't just decide you want one and get one.
Overall this game RULES and you should get it!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like horses, you'll love it, especially if you can't have a real horse in real life--this is just like owning a real horse!!!!!!! You should get this game--you'll love it!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Be sure to save your good games in at least two different spaces, because you can accidentally delete a game without knowing it and without getting a confirmation message.

I love this game!

This is a great game but I have heard about the "Diamond Mystery" and I don't know how to get to it. I've finished all of the competitions even the Kingswood, and they're all easy after Maple Forest. Once you finish Kingswood they show this little clip and then nothing else happens so if anyone knows how to get to the Diamond Mystery please write a review. Thanks.

P.S. If you want to get to the Western Championships, look in the stall across from Comet's if you haven't found the Lucky Horseshoe yet.

Still deciding...

I played this game at a friend's house, and at first I thought it was fun. You got to ride all over the farm and trails, muck out the stalls (on my friend's game, I had no problem getting in and out of the manure pile), turn out the horses (but with the bridles on :-p) and you could ride snobby Melissa's horse, Comet. (To the player who didn't know how to get the bale of hay, if you haven't figured out how yet, you get the pitchfork thing and then walk out the double doors, since it doesn't fit through any other door, and then move until the hay blinks, and then go back in through the double doors and put it where the hay is.)But I though it was really annoying how John just walks around, not doing anything. (NOTE: Comet's stall is the last stall on the right when you're walking out to go riding, and John's horse is near there too)So, since I thought it was fun, I got it, and in the first competition, I beat Melissa!!!! But then it wouldn't load for the vet check, so I had to exit! After a while, it got annoying, so I just returned it. Following are some tips that I picked up from playing it at my friend's house:
*When you go on the scavenger hunt on the cross country trail, write down the numbers and dial them in order from least to greatest. for example: just say the numbers are 7,9,1,3,5. You would put it 1,3,5,7,9, and then the phone rings, and John tells you what your prize is! But be sure to do it right away once you get back from the trail, because if you take too long, MELISSA will get the prize!

*When the phone rings, and the reporter asks you questions, after a while, on the corkboard outside of the club room, there will be a paper, and if you make it blink and then press enter, Annie will say "It's the article!" Or something like that. Also, there's the missing wallet. I forget exactly where that is, but you don't get a reward for finding it!

*You can ride in the pastures! If you want to ride in an enclosed area, just tack up your horse and lead it to the pasture, and then mount up!

*If your horse doesn't have 100 percent health going into the bigger competitions, you will be eliminated!

*Lastly, a bath for your horse never does any harm, so I usually washed my horse and gave it an apple after I rode it.

So, this game has fun points, but I'm still deciding whether I like it enough to recommend it...

Just A Little Warning

This game was great overall. DO NOT play Competitions At Rosemond Hill. It is impossible! It's extremely difficult to manage around the course and find which direction to go.
Legacy of Rosemond Hill is OK. The graphics aren't the best and the controls are sometimes hard to manage. But otherwise, it's pretty much okay.
