Mario Kart: DoubleDash!! is a great game. First of all it can have up to 4 players (up to 16 however if you have a Broadband adapter). This game is best with lots of people since at heart it is a mulitplayer game. A great part of the game is Battle Mode. This includes:

-Bomb-Omb Blast
Fight with bomb-ombs

-Shine Thief
Player who keeps the shine for the longest wins

-Balloon Battle
Pop the others players balloons

The battle stages are not as complex as the first games, which is a dissapointment but are still quite fun. Battle Tsages Include:

Cookie Land
Block City
Nintendo GFamecube
Pipe Plaza
Tilt-a-kart (Unlockable)
Luigis Mansion (Unlockable)

Since this is Mario Kart you can also race against other players this is one of the best parts of the game because you have thinking, real people to play against. Tracks and racers are unlocked through single player mode in 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and Mirror Mode.

Racers include:
Mario
Luigi
Princess Peach

Daisy
Baby Mario
Baby Luigi
Koopa
Paratroopa
Diddy Kong
Donkey Kong
Yoshi
Birdo
Waluigi
Wario
Bowser
Bowser Jr.
Toad (Unlockable)
Toadette (Unlockable)
King Boo (Unlockable)
Petey Piranha (Unlockable)

There are also unlockable carts.
Courses availible include:
-Mushroom Cup
Luigi Circuit
Peach Beach
Baby Park
Dry Dry Desert

-Flower Cup
Mushroom Bridge
Mario Circuit
Daisy Cruiser
Waluigi Stadium

-Star Cup
Sherbert Land
Mushroom City
Yoshi Circuit
DK Mountain

Special Cup (Unlockable)
Wario Colesseum
Dino DIno Jungle
Bowsers Castle
Rainbow Road

A lot of tracks are simple and lack shortcuts though.
Each character has a kart and their are other to unlock.

Once again items are in this game. There are the normal items, however a new addition is that every character gets his-her own speical item. e.g. Mario and Luigi have fireballs, Yoshi and Birdo have eggs, Bowser and Bowser Jr. have a Giant Koopa Shell, etc.

This game is a little dissapointing in seeming how it has beensimplified but overall it is still great.

This game is one of the best nintendo games ever! First of all there is an all star line up of classic(and new) nintendo ledends. The consept of having two people on one cart is one of the greatest idias on it. Also all the new cars make it even funner. Then there are the tracks. They are works of art. The AI is way smarter than in the first one, and Diving depends on the careters you have in the cart. It is truely one of the best games I have ever played.

A Pretty Good MarioKart Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 4

This MarioKart game proposes a new twist to the already famous game. Although there are many flaws, it is enjoyable and fresh. Now there are two people in each 'Kart', one to drive, one to throw items. Not only is this a great idea, it also brings about a revolution in Mario racing games.

-Double Dash introduces many new ideas to the Mario racing games. Among the obvious two player feature, each character has a special item, and a different weight. If both characters you have chosen are light, then the kart must be a lightweight, therefore making it a fast accelerator, yet slow top-speeds, and is weak, thus reducing hitting power. The medium karts... are, well, medium in every way, as usual, and the heavy karts are slow accelerators, but have great top-speeds and are very strong. Also if you press 'A' when the light is green, you can get a boost, but with two-player, if both do it, it is a Double-Dash, hence the name. Most of these are great ideas, making the game even better.

-There is also the 'battle stage', in which people may play different kart games, without racing, including a balloon-popping fight, a battle with bombs, and stealing the sprite.

-This is a fun game for all ages, because the controls are easy to use, and the gameplay is great. However, the game may get a bit boring after a while, because the game may be a little too easy for some, and after you get the karts, the two new characters, the two new stages, mirror-mode, and the Special Cup, it does get redundant. Now I know that this sounds like a lot to keep you busy, but beleive me, however great this game is, there isn't much to do.

-Graphics are good, but not great, and compared to the other MarioKart games, it's a bit better, but there isn't too much of a difference.

-The sound is not annoying, but there is not much variety of music.

-The Bonus disk is a fun little side-thing, and it's o.k, but not to die for.

---Overall, this game is nowhere near perfection, but is very fun for many people for quite a while.

--P.S. Someone else (Charlie V1?) said that you couldn't get Toad, but he is wrong.
-If you beat the Star Cup on 150CC your prize is Toad, and his partner is Toadette.
-I have them, and their special is a boost mushroom, except that you can use it as many times as you want in a certain amount of time.

Mario Kart: 1.5 Dash

Double Dash has been unfairly judged. It is awesome. Not perfect, but awesome. Better than Mario Kart 64? In some respects, yes, and in others, no. The biggest difference, of course, is the ability to control two drivers, which allows you to hold two items at once, something that can really work to your advantage. But while this is a nice addition, I think the greatest improvement is a much better framerate. With four players, I didn't even notice any slowdown. Power-sliding is ridiculously easy this time around, too, but only a true master will learn to use it 100% efficiently. Now some of the track designs are pretty uninspired, and the battle mode is a major letdown, but there's plenty other good stuff here to make kart-racing fans happy. Despite a few drawbacks, a lot of fun. If you and your friends play regularly, pick this one up.

Fantastic

This game is just about as good as mario kart 64, which is awesome. It adds some new tracks along with some old ones that come together to form a rock solid mario kart game. As for you that disagree and say that pressing the gas button all the time is retarted then you can go eat a *#&%. It's called strategy. If you just had to press it once you'd never make it around some corners in the game at full speed. If you loved mario kart 64 and enjoyed the multiplayer you'll love this game.

Great game....and pretty hard

Great game. I got this one for christmas, and i recemmend it to everyone....people that liked the original mario cart and others that didn't. You can choose from a varity of cars and any 2 characters. You can also play a co-op game with one of your friends and one of you can drive and the other deals with the items. That has to be the best part of the game so far. Although....i haven't found a friend who can shoot a green shell at someone.

An enormous amount of fun

One day, while playing Mario Kart 64, I noticed it was incredibly fun. And even though I owned an Xbox and countless games, I regained my obession with Mario Kart, and played it more than any other game for weeks. I soon decided I HAD to get Double Dash. So I ordered a Gamecube, four controllers, Double Dash and some other games.
When I first played Double Dash, it somewhat fell below my expectations, but as I continued, it became insanely fun, and extremely addictive and this is only in single player.
The stages in Double Dash are nothing short of fantastic. The bright graphics, varied and interactive backgrounds are as much fun to look at as they are to play. The weapons and stages look alot cooler than the previous incarnation. The biggest problem however, is that this game is more of an upgrade than a new game altogether. There are no new weapons (actually there are less), except for the special weapons for each character and many of the stages are similar, just with drastically changed and improved surroundings. The added co-op play with two characters is innovative but not terribly exciting. There is quite a bit to unlock, but it most likely wouldn't take you very long to unlock everything. There are also numerous other parts of the game which could be improved or other features which could have been added. Essentially it is still Mario Kart 64 with a major upgrade. So even with all these disappointments, why am I still giving this game a five star rating? Well it is so incredibly fun, that it is still worth it. Bring this to a party with four controllers, or better yet, eight, and hook up a lan game, and it will be some of the most fun you could possibly have... period.

Excellent and entertaining game!

At last Mario Kart is available on Gamecube, and it certainly lives up to the standards of all its predecessors. While this game is unique in its own way, it uses the same brilliant concept set by the N64 and Super NES versions. The graphics are far improved, and now you are given about twice as many characters to choose from, and a few to unlock as well. The ability to choose karts based on speed, weight, and acceleration also adds a new element to gameplay.

The most noticable change to the game is that now two characters operate each kart. This actually doesn't change gameplay very much in single player, but when two human players team up and operate a kart together, it's pretty entertaining to punch other karts off the road while the other person steers. Also, each pair of charaters (i.e. Mario and Luigi, Peach and Daisy) have a special item that only they can get. This creates for a more item intense game, and very often the leader of a race can very quickly fall behind after being bombarded with Spike shells and other items.

Mario Kart: Double Dash, like the previous version, has 16 tracks split into 4 cups. While the courses are beautiful and very detailed, they only become very challenging in the last two cups (the "star" and "special" cups). Courses such as Baby Park and Peach Beach are uninspired and not very exciting, and you lose interest in them after awhile. The equivalent to Toad's Turnpike in the N64 version, Mushroom Bridge, is comparatively easy, though still entertaining nonetheless. However, there are some real jewels such as DK Mountain, Wario Colloseum, and the new Rainbow Road.

Despite its minor flaws, Mario Kart: Double Dash is an incredibly fun and entertaining game to play. It has endless replayablity and certainly lives up to the reputation its name has created.

Incredibly boring tracks."2 riders" idea adds almost nothing

Ok I just want to let you people know that in terms of gameplay, this is kart racing at its best. But the most important part of any racing game by far in my opinion is the tracks you have to race on. They have to be interesting and well designed. The tracks are what made MK64 so fun, they were well designed, long, creative, etc.... I expected a LOT better from Double dash. Theres probably about a total of 4 or 5 decent tracks in this game. Not very impressive! Very few shortcuts, boring design, nothing special at all.

And as far as the 2 riders idea, its so overhyped its rediculous. Ok, so instead of seeing a banana peel flying from your cart..... um... you see another character throwing it? Each player has their own special item, but that doesnt really matter, its pretty much choosing which special weapon you like best. And switching drivers and riders in mid-race does absolutely nothing.

I just wanted to warn the people who like awesome tracks in their racing games, and that this 2 rider idea adds nearly nothing to the game at all. Big stepdown from Mario Kart 64.
