Mario Kart double dash has got to be the most fun I hve had in a game since I got the Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker!!! This game is the most polished game that has ever been created and thats exactly what Nintendo does. They create these perfectly polished games and that is what Double Dash is.This game isn't just for the kids either, it can be played by anyone. Here I will make a list of pros and cons so that you can see just what I'm talking about.

+Pros
1. Fun for everyone in the family
2. Multiple characters and tracks offer tons of replay value.
3. Great suondtrack
4. Great game for parties.
5. Tons of cool characters like mario, Wario and Yoshi

-Cons
1. A little difficult for some people.
2. Realistic racing fans might want to skip this one.
3. Too many cutesy characters for some people.

This is the best game ever!!

This game is so much fun! It is perfect for when you're bored or in the mood to play video games. Every course has something unique and fun about it. Anyone who likes video games should own a copy of this!

Having played MANY hours of Mario Kart 64, I was curious to see how Nintendo would update the game for the Game Cube. I was not disappointed. Mario Kart: Double Dash is a GREAT game, and is well worth ever cent you spend on it. It's fun as a single player game, but is a total blast with multiple players. I highly recommend it.

Another great Mario game

Since I am still obsessed with all "Super Mario" games, I was so excited when i heard this was coming out. I got it for Christmas and I immediately went to play it. I absolutely love it. There are a total of 16 classic characters to choose from. There are 2 people per kart and there are several different choices for a kart. The courses are cool, and in this kart, if you win gold trophies you actually win stuff. In the original you didnt really get new stuff for winning. You unlock new courses, and karts. This game is definitly a gotta have if you are a fan of mario, even if your not a fan you will love it :)

This entire game can be summed up in one word: WOW!!! This game was amazing. I bought it about a week ago and I could not stop playing it. Everything is perfect. I haven't played the original Mario Kart but I own Mario Kart 64. Double Dash sweeps the floor with Mario Kart 64. Here are some key factors that you would want to know if you were planning on buying this great game:

Graphics: Incredible! There are never any glitches or signs of cheesy graphics by having half of a kart sticking through one of the walls. Most of the time, while your playing the game, you don't realize the graphics because your too busy racing. But if you take a good look at them, you'll realize they are GREAT!!!!

Controls: At first, maybe this is just me, but I had a hard time mastering the controls. After a while I got used to them. When you are racing with someone else, the controls aren't that hard because you either have to drive or shoot items. When you are with a computer, it is harder because you have to drive and shoot the items at the same time.

Gameplay: The gameplay is awesume! There are many new karts to unlock which takes a while. I think that there are two battle stages to unlock, and there are four characters to unlock, Toad, Toadette, Petey Pirahna, and King Boo. You can also unlock the Special Cup and the All Cup Tour in Grand Prix. Even when you unlock all of these, the game never gets boring.

Music: The music in this game is exactly what you would expect from a Mario game. Very happy and preppy music that might get stuck in your head.

Overall: Definitely worth paying the fifty bucks to buy it. The only problem is that I had a very hard time buying it. Right now, Amazon is sold out, I had to go to EB Games 3 times before I finally picked up a copy. But if you have an oppurtunity to buy it, DO NOT waste it. You might not get another chance for a while.

It's Good, but not THAT Good

This MarioKart game proposes a new twist to the already famous game. Although there are many flaws, it is enjoyable and fresh. Now there are two people in each kart, one to drive, one to throw items. This is a good idea, and it brings about a revolution in Mario racing games.

~Before I say any more, everyone seems to love this game even before they even buy it, and it IS pretty fun, but I don't see why there are so many people so obsessed with it.

-Double Dash introduces new ideas to the Mario racing games. Among the obvious two player feature, each character has a special item, and a different weight. If both characters you have chosen are light, then the kart must be a lightweight, therefore making it a fast accelerator, yet slow top-speeds, and is weak, thus reducing hitting power. The medium karts... are, well, medium in every way, as usual, and the heavy karts are slow accelerators, but have great top-speeds and are very strong. Also if you press 'A' when the light is green, you can get a boost, but with two-player, if both do it, it is a Double-Dash, hence the name. Most of these are good ideas, making the game even better.

-There is also the battle stage, in which people may play different kart games, without racing, including a balloon-popping fight, a battle with bombs, and stealing the sprite. The fun-ness of the battle stage seems to have decreased a bit, though.

-This is a fun game for all ages, because the controls are easy to use, and the gameplay is great. However, the game may get a bit boring after a while, because it might be a little too easy for some parts, and too hard in others, and after you get the karts, the two new characters, the two new stages, mirror-mode, and the Special Cup, it does get redundant. Now I know that this sounds like a lot to keep you busy, but believe me, however great this game is, there isn't much to do. The karts don't really make a difference either, there are many, but personally, I don't care which one I choose, it won't make that much of a difference.

-Graphics are good, but not great. Compared to the other MarioKart games it's a bit better, but there isn't too much of a difference.

-The sound isn't annoying, but there is not much variety of music.

-The Bonus disk is a fun little side-thing. It's pretty cool. You can checkout demos of Sonic Heroes, Star Wars something, MarioParty 5, F-Zero GX, and my all time favorite - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I think is hilarious that they put it on there. You can also watch some previews and bonus items.

---Overall, this game is not really near perfection, but is very fun for many people for quite a while.

Great Game!

My (...) son loves this game and plays it constantly. He enjoys both the racing and battle levels and unlocks new levels by winning races. It's a lot of fun and a great buy.

excellent...but like all games, it has its problems

mario kart double dash is an excellent racer for the GCN (one of the few really) and i highly recommend this to anyone looking for hours of fun and great multiplayer. there are plenty of characters to choose from (and koopa is back!) and also plenty of cars. the dual kart thing with two people in it takes a tad bit getting used to, but once you do you will never go back to one.

now i guess i should share my complaints. first off, the learning curve for this game, while not difficult, does require a little bit more getting used to than other mario karts. unlike mario kart 64, power sliding in this game is a MUST, and if you have never used it before, you will get frustrated with this game at first due to the fact that a lot of courses have tight turns that can screw you up if you don't power slide.

also, the tracks, while are very fun, don't seem as creative as past tracks, which is sort of a letdown considering nintendo had a much more powerful system this time around.

my final complaint is that there just doesn't seem to be enough tracks. sure, a lot of them are a blast and just great to play over and over and over (like waluigi stadium, bowser's castle, and of course, baby park) but overall there are only 16, which is somewhat a downer, but there are plenty of great tracks that will hold your attention for HOURS.

don't let my complaints throw you off, this game is still top notch and in my opinion the best racing game ever. lets hope that they make another for the cube.

Game is fun, but its an almost mirror from the original

I've been waiting for this game to come out for some time now since I am a huge fan of the original Super Mario Kart. I went out and bought the game today, and really wasn't that happy with it. I mean, don't get me wrong, its fun, but it seems like its the exact same game as the previous with less tracks on it. The graphics are good and there are some more modifications done, but overall, I think I'm gonna have to say the Nintendo 64 version is much better as far as fun gameplay. Nintendo should have added more options and tracks that it did in this one. Overall, the game is fun, there was just not much new.
