I would highly recommend this game to anyone - young or old. The very experienced gamer may find it too easy, but that's not to say they wouldn't find it interesting. As for me, I've played games before, but only buy them if the subject interests me. This game was just the right amount of challenge. I could figure most of it out, but sometimes it took awhile. I finished the game in about a week of moderate playing. Then, I went back and played it again, this time trying for all the bonuses. The flying is great fun. And if the controls seem backward to you, you have the option of changing them! I loved it!

I have now seen the movie twice and although I think the move is brillant, i think this game is much better, in fact more truer to the book than the movie..You start off at hogwarts of course talking to dumbledore, but you really dont have to as he does not really give you any clues, my advice is just explore and talk to all the students because they will tell you what lesson you need to get to next.along the way you will talk to the weasley twins and they will tell you to collect diffrent flavours of bertie bott beans, you have to collect them all otherwise you wont get there passwords to the secret paintings and belive me they are very helpful..Also in this game you get have lessons with the main teachers but one who is not in the film is professer sprout. This game is full of surprises and hidden secrets which i love, its full of great charcters and bad nasty pepole like Voldermert who is quite spooky, the forbidden forset is great fun,.With each lesson you have to sovle the puzzle and perform spells to get to your next lesson. Also you have to play quiddich which to my mind is the best thing in the game, you have to have pratice lessons first with madam hooch, then your off...I am now a quiddich expert and i would beat potter any time haha...And the good thing about it is you can play it as often as you like and beat your own records..I Highly recomend this game for young and old, I`m 34 and I am enjoying it very much, I think the most diffuclut bit is the gringotts bank and getting two blue feathers from a peacocks bum. I think its all quite changelling and good fun have a ball, and dont listen to pepole who play on playstaion all the time and say " I played this game in a day" It took me well over a week to play this game and playing it again I`m still finding things i missed before..brill, good, fun and hey I`m english where Harry potter was born, so for that reason I`m very proud potter rules..hahahahaaaaa

This game is a pretty nice one once you get into it quite far. But the most frustrating part is when go to Diagon Alley with about 70% of the game done. Other than that the game is very enjoyable.

The Best Things are:

Hogwarts is very nice and a great place to explore.

Hagrid, Professor Dumbeldore, Ron, Hermonie and Malfoy are all in the game

Diagon Alley is a GREAT PLACE to explore

You get to ride a broomstick and play Quidditch

You get to earn House Points for Gryffindor and lead them to the House Cup

Harry attends Charms, Herbology, Defense against the Dark Arts, Potions and Transfiguration classes

Learn Spells like Flipendo, Alohomora, Incendio and many more!

Where the Invisibility Cloak to sneak past Mr. Filch and his cat Mrs. Norris

Fight against Voldemort

Matches against Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle

Retrieve items for Hagrid, Snape and many other people

Fight creatures like Venomous Tentactula and a flying Gargoyle

Collect Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans for Fred and George to gain entrance to portraits which have secret and powerful items

Collect Chocolate Frog Cards that are scattered all over the Castle and grounds

Collect Choclate Frogs to regain Stamina

Overall This is a Classic Which One of the BEST!!!!!!

This was a great game because it was challenging but not too hard.
I really liked quidditch and I did very well. Also facing Valdamort was tough but I did it. I also liked the fact that you can't lose the game by losing all your energy. Great game!!

If you like harry potter and have read the first book then by all means get it.It has the story af the game plus some more.the graphics are amazing for the time needed by warner Brothers. The chacters in the games look exactly lik in the movie. Make shre you have a memory card so that you can save it takes up one space and allows three saves. So if you like harry potter this is a must have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is alternately FAR too easy and FAR too hard for kids. It was obviously rushed to meet the movie release date and suffers from the following:

-Stupidly hard, frustrating sections, such as the oft mentioned flying lessons
-Plenty of obvious basic gaming flaws, inability to quit is another good example
-Little content, most of the gametime is spent repeating areas you hate to play in the first place
-Fails to capture any of the promises made by the ads

This last point is very important, because Harry Potter is very special to many kids (and adults, and even teens). The premise of exploring Hogwarts, learning magic and interacting with your favorite characters sounds great, but all of Hogwarts looks the same, the only "explorable" places are single rooms behind identical bookcases, you learn 4 spells of which you really only use one, you can't jump (Harry jumps off the sides of platforms only), broomstick riding is just stressful for anyone inexperienced in 3d game navigation, and the only 'interaction' you have with 5 characters is them telling you what to do.

At least this game is an exercise in imagination, as children will be constantly thinking of the way this game could be vastly improved. Kids want to experience the world of Harry Potter, not a paper thin simplification of a plot they already know.

Missing the magic

The finer points of this game may wasted on a muggle like myself. The poor camera angles, and the lethargy of the camera movment leave a lot to be desired. You can not save when you want to. You have no choice as to when you must do certain tasks or puzzles. You can not go back to pick up things you missed along the way. The lack of being able to explore at will, and being locked into areas once you have entered them is more than just frustrating. Do not even attempt to fight Voldemort if you are not ready for the game to be over. You can not win the fight and then go back to reach the 100% mark. Win the fight, the game takes over, and that's it. Over all, once you get the hang of moving, and especially flying, you can have some fun. I can't say that I am sorry I purchased this game, but if I had rented it first, I probably would not have bought it.
