When i picked up Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, I didn't know what to expect. From what could be gathered from the demo it seemed to be a fairly complex action game, and obviously i enjoyed the demo enough to actually purcahse the game. Soon after i popped the disc into my PS2 I found that i could not put the controller down. Not only is the gameplay as addictive as it could be, which, in a phrase would be "like h---, not to mention that the story/plot is engaging enough to make you want to keep playing the game game nonstop untill you beat it. Suffice it to say that I was up into the wee hours of the morning playing this game, it truly is amazing. Of the best games for the PS2, i would have to but Jak and Daxter as the fourth best game of all time, behind only Final Fantasy X, Grand Theft Auto III, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and perhaps Silent Hill 2. In the end all that I really need to say is this: No matter what genre of games you like, you need to give Jak and Daxter a try. If your unwilling to front the [money] to buy, then just rent it. I gaurantee that after you've played this game for an hour and a half, that you WILL buy it. There is no escaping it. This game kicks some holy ...!!!

There's nothing like the original.

Jak and Daxter, back when Jak couldn't talk (a big reason why this game is rated E) and weapons, jetboards, and vehicles didn't exist.

Jak and Daxter shares almost no similarites with any of the other Jak games other than the main characters (although many more were added in Jak 2). Even though there are no weapons, jetboards, dark eco, or secrets (I guess in the 21st century violence is more important than gameplay), I still play Jak and Daxter all the time. The levels and missions are fun (you must go around the world searching for power cells in the quest to bring Daxter back to his natural form) and it never gets boring.

Although there are no missions, instead you have to do certain things to acquire power cells (findinc scout flies, opening eco vents, defeating plants). The levels range from the boggy swamp to the spider caves to the lost precursor temple. Each place is unique and has its own fun little areas to explore.

Even though I own all of the Jak games currently in existence, there's nothing like the classic Jak and Daxter.

it's funny

I have one word to describe this game in a nutshell: WOW! This game is by far one of the best games on the market today. The graphics are astounding, the voice-acting is superb, and the controls are top-notch. I know there are those out there that will say that this is a kids game and there is no blood and gore and that's all you do is jump around... jump around... jump up, jump up and get down (Sorry, just had an early 90's platform genre flashback.) At any rate, my response to this statement would be "So What". Actually, I wish there were more games like this out there. The game is so well-done that there were times that I just stood in one place and would lose myself in the lush detailed environments or trip on the vapors coming up from the lava or... well, you get my point. The levels were huge and there were tons of items to collect and a plethera of monsters to tangle with. My only two gripes on the game were that I felt that it was a little too short and that there were only 3 bosses to fight and two of them were pushovers, but at this point I'm just knit-picking a near-perfect gaming experience. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who loves cool and exciting gameplay and who enjoys a game filled with some rad eye candy. I know you'll be hooked the first time you see Daxter do the Robot after collecting a power cell, I know i was.

Personally, I like all things mythical, like dragons and wizards and bizzare, fanciful worlds. With Jak and Daxter, a magical world was lain before me!

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is truly one of the most remarkable games of it's genere I have ever seen! It ranks right up there with Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot and Mario!
This game is about mystery and discovery as you go along. About turning you friend, Daxter, back to his elfish-self from him bieng an Ottsel-half Otter, half Weasel. You also discover secrets of the Precursors, ancient biengs that made Eco and your world, and a delvilish plot to change the world for the worst.

This game looks fantasic and has massive landscapes and whimsical characters. It also has a variety of play mechanics and vehicles which helps you do great combo-attacks and fly on a baby Flut-Flut.

For me, this game was a little to easy, but even after you finish, this is one of those games that you just like to run around in with no purpose. And it's from Naughty Dog-the fellows who made Crash Bandicoot, so they've placed a lot of Crash's personality into every microbit of this game, as well as thier experienced touch, so you know this game is good any which way you look at it.

If you've got the wit and adventourus spirit, give Jak and Daxter a try. It's easy to get addicted to their world of intrigue, and easy to understand as well.

Have fun! I did!

A great improvement on your average console game

Jak and Daxter is great for all console players. It is much like Crash Bandacoot, but in a 3D world so there is a lot more to the game play. It is very funny and is kid appropriate. Jak and Daxter are on a quest to try and stop two evil masters of Eco (the energy where they live) from accidentaly destroying the world. THe two eco masters won't listen, so the heroic duo must try and stop them before a great store of dark eco is released upon the world, destryoign everything. This is a great, fun game, well worth your money.

This is one of the best games I ever played. I love this game because there are a lot of enemies to defeat. You get ambushed and locked in rooms by enemies all the time. Did you know that Daxter wasn't always a rodent? His transfomation was interesting. This game has awesome graphics. You could continously save and that is great when your parent insists that you shut the game off and "GET IN THE CAR NOW - WERE GOING OUT".
The only problem I have is that the maximum HP is 4. You do have unlimited lives though and you only have to go back to the beginning of the area.
My favorite thing Daxter says sometimes when you die is " I'm going to say something very teary at the funeral like HOW AM I GOING TO GET BACK TO MY NORMAL SELF"
I highly recommend this game for everybody.

Come on it's cool!

The best thing about Jak and Daxter are all the different types of Eco. Every type of Eco has a different type of power, so you can get stronger all the time. But you don't have that much health though, so that sux. The graphics are awesome, the storyline is pretty good. The 3 bosses you go up against, are kinda hard. The first one is easy, the second one is okay, and the last one is kinda hard. I got all 101 power cells and know the secret ending. I'll tell you the secret ending (on second thought, no).

Didn't think I'd like it

After playing the demo and watching those stupid TV commercials I was sure that 'Jak and Daxter' was a stupid game. Then one day I was bored and there wasn't really anything interesting at the video store so I picked up 'Jak and Daxter' and I was really surprised. It's actually fun. It's actually VERY fun. Very fun and very addictive. I was up until 5 in the morning playing this game. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Anyway here's the score I give it:

Graphics: 4.5
Sound: 5.0
Control: 5.0
Fun Factor: 5.0
