Sorry Story

Jak & Daxter is good in everything, except the story. I think if you don't care about the story, then it could match the #1 game. Buy this for adventure, action, graphics, and fun. Its #1 without the story.

The first time i popped this game into my ps2, i was so excited. But 12 hours later i was bored of it because i had rapped the game. Not that it's to short, like another reviewer said, it just leaves you wanting more, you don't feel very proud after savig the world in 12 hours. And because it lacks a multiplayer mode, the replayability is 0. I tried to beat it again, but after 30 power cells i gave up because it was very boring. This is an OKAY game the first time around, but after that its not that great. But it has stunning graphics, good controls, good sound, but not much depth or replayibility. Overall it's an ok game, but could have been MUCH better. Get a crash bandicoot game, 2 or 3, their much better than this game.

I have played a lot of playstation games, but this one may be my favorite. With tons of games and challenges, and no straight way to get them besides a clue, it reminded me of my old time favorite game Super Mario on N64. It had absolutly amazing graphics, and the characters all have different personalities. Plus, i have been at it for over a month, and still haven't beaten it, which is great!

I have never played a more adventurous game, Jak and Daxter is full of surprises, I recommend this game for everyone who likes adventures and is patient enough to keep trying.

Plays like a mix of Spyro and Crash

The game is fun to play. It has great graphics and the cute comments the little Daxter makes. The game play is like a mix of Spyro and Crash. If you enjoy both those games then you will love this one. My kids were hooked to the game, but me on the other hand was expecting challenges closer to what fans of Naughty Dog's Crash would want.

Great graphics, great 3-D. Different than Crash Bandicoot, you can go to different Islands before completing the missions. You can also move in all directions, dive in the beach, etc. We love it!! My son loves it (5 years old) and I love it -- 35. Jak and Dexter along with Metal Gear Solid (not for the small ones of course), GT3, Ace Combat and Crash Bandicoot are our all time favorites!

Addictively fun gameplay, coupled with awesome design!

In a word: magnificent.

Like most of the games being released this year, Jak&Daxter starts off with an animated opening, which introduces some pertinent characters and explains the premise of your adventure. But from the get-go, J&D stands apart from its rivals. Whereas most game characters look great but don't emote and have voices that make you long for text instead, J&D characters are fully animated and show great personality through both their body language and their superb voice acting.

From the opening animation you launch *immediately* into the game. J&D is real-time so there is no waiting for load screens to tick away until they reach 100%. (When you accomplish one of your goals, there is a brief pause while the games saves your progress, but that's a good thing, especially for those who forget to save often ^_~) Learning the controls is part of the game - and a great deal of fun - so you don't have to sit reading some 50-page manual. The fun starts right away as you control Jak and make your way through the training area. Daxter rides shotgun on your shoulder, making funny quips and giving helpful advice (if you turn hints "on" in the options menu).

The in-game animation for the duo is stunning (just look at the difference between when Jak runs for miles or just leisurely walks along) and Jak is very easy to control with the left analog stick. Brightly colored houses and foliage, realistic texture maps, and an actual rising and setting sun immerse you in the world. Don't like the camera angle? The right analog stick let's you control your view.

You learn your objectives as the game progresses, but should you forget, they are listed in the options menu as they are revealed. The quirky enemies are few at the start of the game (a great design choice as it allows you to become comfortable with controlling Jak before being attacked from all angles) but they build in number as you progress, and it becomes more challenging.

At it's core, J&D is a simple "find and fetch" game ala Super Mario 64, but it's so entertaining, so imaginative, so well acted, and just ... so amazing, that even if you think you're tired of run-and-jump platform games, you will want to give this one a try. (Trust me, you'll probably want to own this just to see Daxter break-dance when you find a power-orb!)

All around brilliance make this an easy recommendation for gamers who like to have fun, those who admire great design, or parents looking for something that will keep their children entertained without warping their fragile little minds. Superb!
