This game is fantastic. It throws you into a frantic, frightening, and violent pace, we can all imagine WW2 was for soldiers. Scrambling from cover to cover, popping up to take a shot at a Nazi, gunning down planes in a flying fortress, battling in tank warfare, etc. I had a blast, literally, with this game. The sound on this game is excellent especially when piped through a stereo with a woofer, the sound of bombs, the groan of passing planes, the snap of a rifle, the crack of bullet impacts, the squeek of a rumbling tank's tracks -all add to the experience of this game. It's all a very satisfying experience to boot. Most 1st person shooters get boring, it's all shoot, move, shoot, move. This game throws curveballs at you the whole time, you'll be in a foxhole, gunning down Nazis while a tank rolls at you slowly, you want to shoot the Nazis, but your really worried about the tank and if it will stop or crush you and your friends. It's all very exciting, and I was impressed by the graphics comming out of my PS2.

If you do not care if the characters curse the name of god skip the first paaragraph. Okay first off I have to say that it does not matter if the soldiers curse the name of god. I mean what do you think the real soldiers in 1943-1945 were saying, " Holy cow kill that bad guy" or, " Kill that god damn Son of a bitch." You can choose. Now I know it matters if you are using the name of god in vein but face it, everyone has said it before, and will repeat it at least once more so face the facts guys. With that being said onto the review. Call Of Duty: Big Red One has some of the best graphics for a first person shooter I have seen in a while. When you shoot a Nazi, a blood cloud shoots out, or the amount of times you shoot a Nazi is the same amount that spills out. You get to know your squadmates and with every passing death of them, it is sadening. I found that to be a great quality in this game. It is not enough to make you cry but as you progress further into the game you will start to miss hearing their voice. The weapons are very authentic looking and dont lack anything, like recoil, muzzle flash, etc. The environments are well thought out and very detailed. The only flaw is that the game is too damn short. But the D-Day mission(Omaha Beach) was not a very authentic mission. I understand that the makers were trying to shake things up a bit but but they were just pushing the envelope creating a mission that wasnt authentic. It sucked. Other than the D-Day mission everything else was fine. Great game and well worth the money.

I thought this game was good. I really enjoy the World War 2 History. It takes me back to where my grandfather was. But I like the First Call of Duty better. I thought COD2 was waaaay to short. However, it is a good game, good graphics, just to short. Buy it if you like the CALL OF DUTY SERIES.

Why can't I kill friendlies?!?

I just finished Call of Duty: Big Red One and I'm steaming mad I spent any money at all on it. I'm glad I bought it as a greatest hits game for 20 bucks instead of the initial offering. The gameplay was bad. I was expecting advanced features from the previous Call of Duty, but it was same ol' same ol' here.

Note to whoever creates these games: Either create intelligent friendlies or allow me to kill them! More times than I can count I wasn't allowed to shoot at Germans because a stupid American got in my line of sight. That is the worst feature on these "squad" games. The idiots run around and just make it harder to maneuver through levels. If I was allowed to just blow them away, then that would be awesome. But don't limit the gameplay because they are so badly created. This feature became especially bad when trying to storm trenches. The worst part is that you can still get hit by German bullets, but you just can't shoot back!

Medal of Honor may overdue the heroics (which I honestly don't mind), but they have figured out that if you can't get a squad working, don't include it!

I loved this game but their was one problem, it was to short. I mean it is really the funnest T rated first person shooter game. but if you want a challenge and if your a experienced gamer you need to play it on hard. Because on hard you need to make sure you are near cover because you can die really really fast. Great storyline two... your happy mad and sad at places

PLUSES___
1. you have great graphics ( except for the water)
2. Great storyline
3. you also depend on your team
4. you get to use a variety of weapons

MINUSES___
1 and only 1. to short of a storyline

I cant wait till i get the 360.... with my HDTV the graphics will be awsome on COD3

Very good gameplay

The gameplay is very good. The details and challenges are suited for everyone. The controls are easy to know, and the graphics are some of the best. The only letdown is the online play. Even though the graphics are good, when you go online they just aren't good enough. The movement and capability is not the best. But not everyone has online so the game is even better offline than it is online. So don't buy this game if you just want to play it online. I would reccomend Battlefield 2:Modern Combat for online play. But this has (my opinion) the best offline play.

this is defenetly a great ww2 game. there was just one problem which would of amped up my rating a couple stars. the dday mission was so disapointing and that's the mission i and many others look forward to the most. if the mission did not say "june 6th 1944" i would not have known that this mission was supposed to be dday. all u do is get on the beach, kill sum guys and then u just go in these trenches for like 85% of the mission. could've been a lot better.

An enjoyable war game

I don't like killing my own Germanic or European people but hey it's WWII everybodies whacked out from 2coined politics what do expect. The action is excellent and so are the missions. Sometimes it gets a little redundant that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. It would be a lot more interesting if they made a game or some of these historical missions for European missions.

Alot of those real life European soldier's were pawns of the Nazi movement and "not all" of them were as bad as portrayed, they were mislead and manipulated. Let's face it everbody with power wanted a war and everbody without power wanted power. There were language barriors that were intentially broken, everybody wanted Germanies Technology, and times were getting very tough in Germany. Being part Bavarian myself there is justification for hatred of the East which is often left out of the WW war talk but it's not justified from the Nazi retorical perspective.

Traditional Germany is not at all how it is portrayed. During the war not only were soldiers lied to and tricked but so were scientist and every other profession in the reich. Basically the more you put into the new reich the more you were betrayed. Even Adolf Hitler himself was unknowingly drug induced or giving drugs he did not know about by his Doctors - that's how corrupt it really was.

Execelent graphics, good game play, no overkill on bloodshed. Definatly better than what I expected.
