Great console, great game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 43 / 50

The PS2 is definetly the best console, and thats because of the games. You might hear a lot of talk from the xbox or gamecube but without good games they're lost. Right now the PS2 is building a great library of games: Gran Turismo 3, MGS2, Twisted Metal Black, Devil may cry, and the list goes on and on.

If you take GT3: is the best driving simulator ever created on any system, period. In this game the PS2 really show its power. The game has the most beautiful graphics ever created for a racing game, a soundtrack that keeps your adrenaline high, a huge selection of cars and tracks, and finally an awesome realism that will keep you playing this game for months and months.

You can't be wrong with this bundle it includes everthing you need and the price is right. Don't pay atention to the reviews that give only 1 star to the ps2, that are from some guy with a lot of time in hands and spends the whole day wrinting bad reviews for the ps2.

Solid System, Solid Game

I personally found the PS2 attractive because of its backward compatibility and the ability to play DVD's. I will say that the games are quite good for being such a young system. Also, the DVD playing is sufficient. Although the controls are awkward because you have to use the analog controllers, it still suffices as a DVD player. There is a third party remote, but I don't trust third party equipment. Thankfully, Sony has come out with their own remote which is the best one to get. As some have said, the vent is quite loud at times. The hum will be annoying at first esp. if you place it on a hard surface, but it's something you'll get used to.

Should you get the PS2? Yes. Should you get it now? Maybe. The price will definitely go down with time, and it'll be more affordable then. Also, there will be more games later this year. Also, for those who don't have a DVD player, this system will keep you entertained two-fold. As for the reading materials, it's stuff you can find online. Extra controller and memory card are necessary.

Now the X-Box and GameCube are out. For pure power and punch, the X-Box and GameCube provide the capability for better graphics. Are they noticeable? Yes. Are they that much more that the PS2 is useless? No. I've played games on both systems and although they look great, they're still behind on gameplay. As we all know, graphics only get you so far, and it's gameplay that makes a system last. It's possible that X-Box and GameCube will produce better games later this year like the PS2 did. It seems like it takes a year for any new system to get into the flow of things. Nonetheless, the PS2 is a sure thing and there is a wealth of great games out right now that will compete with anything else out there.

5 stars for the system. 5 stars for the game. This is an excellent introductory game for the PS2. The graphics and gameplay are simply top notch. Just play it once and check out the shadows and lighting on some of the courses. Every little thing has been covered in this game. The replays alone will drop jaws. As for the reading materials, it's stuff you can find online. Extra controller and memory card are necessary. Overall, this is probably the best package anyone has to offer. If you plant to buy a PS2, get this bundle.

Great Game! Very Cool System!

If you purchased a bundle from Amazon, this would have to be the one to get. It gets you a years worth of magizines, 2 offical Sony Dual Shock Two Controllers, a game guide, An offical Sony 8mb Memory card, and Grand Tourismo 3! Thats an awsome deal.
MAGIZINES
The only problem, is the magizines, you don't get them when you order, they are sent monthly for one year. I would rather subscrobe to PSM, a great Playstation 2 magizine. They also don't soly focus on Sony items, but they mention X-BOX, Gamecube, and so forth.

MEMORY CARD
This is a great item. It allows you to save and save alot. With 8mb of memory you can save around 20 files! I bought my system for Chirstmas 2000 and I still have only used around one third of the card. The card itself is very dependable. For example I have a friend who bought a MadCatz memory card and it borke down within a month.
OVERALL: A+

GAME AND GUIDE
The game is one of the best for the system. If you would truley like to show off your system, then pop this game right on in and your friends and family will truley be amazed. It feature eye poping visual effects and it incorperates real life phyics, making for a truley realistic game. Again this has got to be the best game for the PS2. The guide is also extremly handy, but it isn't needed, it only gives tips for the cars and different tracks.
OVERALL:A

CONTROLLER
This controller is probaly the best controller for any system. I mean once you hold on to it it feels almost like a glove. plus this package includes two of them so you can play GT3, with two players! The controllers also have a bulit in rumble feature, and it shakes everytime you bump into a wall. the drawback is that the conroller will develop white marks around the edges of the analog sticks. This can be removed using a small amount of Windex and a Q-tip

SYSTEM
WOW! This system has a huge selection of games, and they are becoming cheaper everyday. For example, some popular titles such as SSX and Madden 2001 are only $30 i mean thats an excellent deal. out of all the new systems I would prefer The Playstation 2, because of the sheer amount of games for it, and Sony's loyitly to its costumers. All, one more note is that you may have heard of the PS2's defects. These are true, but only for the early models that came around in November 2000. I called Sony and they provided me with that information. So I hope that isn't one of your concerns.
OVERALL A+

Thanks alot for taking the time to read this, and I hope that this was helpful!

Choose PS2 you won't regret it.

This system definitively lives up to it's reputation. There may be lots of reviews about all the systems available today and I personnaly wasn't sure what to get after reading everything on XBox, PS2 and the CUBE. The choice really came down to PS2 or the XBox. Cube is geared more towards young kids, no extreme games. Not being sure I went out to the stores and played both systems. I was equally impressed but then the obvious decision came down to the game choices available for the PS2. What good is the best system without a lot of games ? PS2 is the way to go you won't get bored and always will find some new game to keep you interested in playing. I recomend getting a PS2. The design is sharper and more compact over the XBox. You will also save a $100 ... a couple of extra games for the PS2. (Turismo 3 is the most realistic racing game yet.)

ONE of the best games for PS2 ever InVeNtEd

This is one of the best games I have ever played in my life. The graphics are intense and feels like your right there riding in a car that can hit lightning speeds LIKE 0-328 MPH and thats in 10-20 seconds. And when it has 3 leages{begginer, amature, and profesional} and each one 100-330 races it gets pretty intense. And the best part is you get to upgrade the cars you win and buy with money, all the way from the tires to engine to paint. When I mentioned cars I meant a lot, I mean 250 and they all come from 12-18 countries each with its speacial features.Did I mention you even have to play licens to make races, which means the more licens you get the more races you can race.Anyways lik I said the game is awesome and there is nothing else like it. Capeace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Other Recommendations- Spy Hunter & Grand Theft Auto 3

Gran Turismo online

Hi my name is Ben and I was looking at all the cars I have and they are very good. The problem is that I cant race any of my friends because they dont like the game so I was thinking for you to make a game called Gran Turismo Online. And you would be able to use the cars from the 3rd Gran Turismo to race on the online game. If you are going to take my idea and make a online game called Gran Turismo online MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS AN ANTI CHEAT DEVICE SO WE CAN RACE PROPERLEY. I hate when people cheat because everyone uses the best car and I would always loose. To me thats not fair because for example I build up a car and make it fast than somebody cheats and beats me than the game would not be fun.

This is the best system out there. It is superior to the xbox and gamecube and should not be overlooked because it came out a year ago. This is a great bundle and should be on everyone's wish list.

DVD Playback

I just want to say a few words about DVD playback, first of all a few people say that in order to play DVD's you need a remote control that is NOT true. You can still play DVD's without remote control just use the controller instead. I played around 20 movies on it and had no problems. When it to comes to games they are exciting and fun to play for many hours. The only thing missing so far is the lack of online games, but supposely Sony is coming out with online gaming next Spring. I love my PS2 and I am sure you will love it too.
