Finally, a game meant for Co-Op!

If you're like me, you love video games. You love shooters, and more than that, you love to share the fun with a friend. Sure, it's a blast to have multi-player where you can kill each other, but what the industry has been lacking til now is a game meant to be played with a friend. Army of Two delivers.

First off, there's various modes where you combine forces with your characters, including a dual-sniper mode that allows you and a friend to coordinate sniper shots to take down two foes at the same time. You'll still depend on your friend taking the voice-cue from the game, but if they don't know how to fire when the game tells them to, it's the least of your worries. There's also back-to-back mode, which looked a LOT like the final shoot-out scene in Mr. & Mrs. Smith - very cool how the characters twist and turn around each other to shoot the badies.

There's a lot fo the game that depends on two people helping each other, but there's also a lot of subtle things added in that make it fun enough to want to talk about. Not only can you congratulate your co-op buddy with a high-five or smart remark (via game controls), you can also insult them or give them a well-deserved headbutt for overwhelming idiocy in the line of duty.

The great part for me is that as you advance, you make money. You can then use this money to outfit yourself with new and more powerful weapons, armor, and even facemasks. (The facemasks are the best part, as you can get ones that with a desert motiff, a "street" motiff, or my favorite, a clown face!!!) you can also save your money to focus in areas you're good at. I'm a sniper, so I spent most of my money getting the latest and greatest sniper rifle.

The story line is solid, the game controls take bit of getting used to, especially with all the bumper use, but all in all I have to say this is the best 360 game yet this year.

Got the shooter the industry needed.

This game was exactly what the video game industry needed. I think it is the best shooter to come out EVER!! First Halo 3(which is still the most replayable and best online) was number one. Then we got Call of Duty 4 which was groundbreaking in graphics and story line. Then there is Army of Two, it has it all. It is simply the best co-op game ever created, great graphics, smooth gameplay, great story and the wepon and gear selections are endless. You could spend hours just checking out the different wepon layouts. Co-op has been needed by gamers and this game delivered. I could replay this with a different freind every night of the week. Thanks EA and keep them coming.

A solid shooter

So far so good, I picked it up today and played through the first mission. I can't wait to get more time on the game as it has top notch graphics and game mechanics. A must have for serious fans of shooter games.

all i keep reading is everyone compairing this game to gears of war and cod4.this game is very similar to both the characters and gameplay remind me of gears and the graphics are similar to cod4 either way this is a great game.the game is based off money complete tasks get paid that simple the more cash you have the better gear you get it also has side tasks where you have to find different types of intel for which you get paid if you find. the gameplay isnt really that long but i have already started a new campaign to go back and try to find all the intel i missed and i NEVER go back and replay a campaign so i really am being honest when i say this is a great game and a blast to play so i would definetly reccommend going out and getting this game. thanks for reading

Picked up my preorder of the game last night. Started from the first mission of co-op with a friend and made it through the first 3 missions, and so far I'm loving the game.

First of all, getting set up with a co-op game is a breeze. You can set up either a public or private match. You can then chose to either begin a new game or start from a previous checkpoint. Once you're actually in the game though, you will be blown away.

Working with your partner is a MUST. You can come up with tons of different strategies and ways of approaching certain situations. Have one of you distract the enemies, while the other sneaks behind them and takes them out. You can pick up a shield and one of you carries it while the other shoots. Or you can just take the head on approach and pop and shoot (ala Gears of War).

The graphics are fantastic. Beautiful enviroments, excellent character models, everything you could ask for. The CGI cutscenes are fantastic looking.

Haven't tried out the multiplayer yet. But it seems as if it would be the same sort of idea as campaign. Its two on two, and you must work together to make it out alive.

The game is a def must buy if you're looking for a game to play with a friend. Mayeb EA should stick with action games.

A great CO-OP experience...

It's sad to see this game getting such questionable reviews. Actually, a friend and I were looking forward to this game until all of the reviews hit. Everyone seems to say bad things about this game. My suggestion is to rent it if your interested, but if you and a buddy go through it, I think you'll like it enough to buy. That's what happened to us. Playing with the AI partner that they give you is ok, but play with a friend and the whole idea of this game shines. Communicating with each other, watching each others backs, that's what CO-OP is about. And while most won't admit it, it's what made Gears of War such a great hit. Being able to play through a game online where you both have to actively be involved in watching out for one another. I hope that EA does a sequel to this game. While I loved this one, a few improvements to the gameplay would make it a little bit better of an experience. Like a cover button, and a different melee button. While some say the campaign is short, I found that it was just as long as Gears of War. Why everybody thinks they need a multiplayer aspect to a game is beyond me though. Yes, it's sorta fun, but why not put the money into the campaign. All in all a great game to play with a friend. Give it a try...

One of the Best

This has got to be in the top 10 games. Absolutely amazing. This game tears COD4 apart into little tiny bloody bite-size pieces. Dont listen to any reviews that are below 4 stars. They are all wrong. The "pimp out"/customize weapons feature is sick. I would choose this game over Halo/COD4 any day. Buy it today!

A pretty fun shooter!

This game turned out to be a lot better then I thought it was going to be. Playing single player is pretty cool, but playing co-op on XBOX live is really where this game shines. There are all kinds of fun 2 person moves and tactics you can perform (drag your partner, heal him, boost him up to a higher spot, pull him up to you, co-op sniping, riot shield etc.). The aggro feature is a pretty unique feature to the game as where when you shoot the most, you glow red and enemies are forced to attack you while your partner will become invisible so to speak and he can go kill them from behind. Makes sticky situations pretty fun and tactical. There are obvious Gears of War comparasions to be made here (the duck and fire based combat) but for the most part, this game stands on its own very well. The story is a little weak but the co-op more then makes up for it. The online versus modes are pretty fun too but I feel it would have been nice to have teams of 4 sometimes instead of always 2 vs 2... But i guess that would kinda ruin the gimmick of the game's title?

Army of Two is a Great Game

My review only applies to the single-player part of the game. I love this game. This is one of the best games to come out so far this year for any platform. If you love shooters, you'll love this game. This is a very well made and thought out game. Also the graphics are very good in this game.

The game takes place in different hot spots throughout recent history. You play the first mission in Somalia in 1993 to take out a Somali warlord. Then you go to Afghanistan in 2001 to take out an Al Qaeda warlord who uses chemical weapons against his enemies. Then it's off to Iraq to fight the Iraqis in 2003. Then from Iraq, you go onboard a U.S. aircraft carrier in 2008 to fight terrorists who have gained control of the ship. Then it's off to China to fight the terrorist mastermind who commanded the terrorists who took over the U.S. aircraft carrier. Finally, the last mission takes place in Miami, Florida where you fight terrorists while a category five hurricane bears down on you.

You play as a war-hardened mercenary with a partner throughout the game. You can play either as a mercenary named Tyson Rios or as one named Elliot Salem. You work for a private corporation who handles security detail throughout the hotspots of the world. You get paid a large sum of money everytime you do something special in a mission. With that money, you can customize and upgrade your weapons, face masks, and body armor throughout the game. (This reminds me a lot of the contractors who work over in Iraq who get paid a lot more money than regular military would ever get paid. I was thinking of the Blackwater Corporation as a good example. Of course, I think those private security detail guys deserve every penny they get. They are usually protecting high profile individuals in Iraq. Those are very tough assignments.)

This game reminds alot of Soldier of Fortune: Payback. In that game, you play a mercenary, just like you do in this game, who is fighting terrorists around the world. You can customize and upgrade your weapons in Soldier of Fortune: Payback just like you can in Army of Two. The only real difference is you're fighting with a partner in Army of Two where in Soldier of Fortune: Payback you mainly fight by yourself throughout the game. Also I think this game is a lot more fun than Soldier of Fortune: Payback and the controls on my Xbox 360 controller are more easy to use. I also don't like in Soldier of Fortune: Payback where you have a constant crosshair in front of you all the time for your weapons. (When are game developers going to learn to give us a option to turn that crosshair on and off by now? Game developers, are you listening?)

This game is definitely a two man show. I can't tell how many times I got wounded and my partner dragged me off to safety to heal me. Or when I came to a cliff or a wall where I needed to climb up and my partner actually helped me climb up. Then there was times we parchuted together and one person guides the parchute while the other person shoots at the enemy below. Or about when we are both totally surrounded by enemy soldiers and me and my partner go back to back blasting away in a circle at all the enemy soldiers around us. Then there is the hovercraft that you use in the water to get around in. You have one person drives the hovercraft and the other person blasts away with a machine gun at everything that moves.

I'm telling you, this game is fun. I definitely plan to go back and play through the single-player campaign again. This game is worth the $60.00 I paid for it.

This game is a really fun and innovative game. It incorporates shooting with strategy and the new features are great. Specially equipping your gun is fun and the way you need to work together in co-op is awesome. Overall an awesome game. Buy it.
