Fun, Exercise and Compelling

This is such a fantastic game. You get so caught up in the collecting of stars and wings and trying to achieve high scores that you do not realize how much exercise you are getting until you have to turn on the fans to cool yourself. I have been playing the game for a year and it is still compelling. I have not lost any weight, but I am more toned.

Once you figure out the best lighting, you are all set. I am a senior citizen and have beat some of the high scores of teenagers and that just thrills me.

The Future is NOW!!!

I just picked up Anti-Grav for the PS2/Eyetoy. Let me say that this title is an absolute must-buy for any fans of futuristic hover games (like WipeOut or Trickstyle) or if you like the Eyetoy. This is one of the most innovative games ever made for any system. Basically, you use your body to play the game. No controller at all. So you lean right to steer right, duck and jump in real life and the character mimicks your actions. It not only works as advertised, but is incredibly fun too. The experience is similar to that Sega skateboard game called Top Skater that was in the arcades a few years back. There have been many (unsuccessful) attemps to use alternate control schemes but have generally been bulky and not very response. This one actually works!

In terms of gameplay, you have a choice of at least 6 different characters, different boards/costumes, something like 5 levels and a whole bunch of tricks you can pull off. The graphics are good, nothing spectacular, but they work. The game is done by the same team that did Frequency so you can expect some trippy color trails and things like that. The sound track is fast and hard, lots of electronic, breakbeat infused metal, drum & bass, etc. Similar soundtrack to WipeOut. Just got the game today, so I can't say how long it is, but there seem to be extras and different modes to beat.

All in all, Anti-Grav is a welcome addition to my PS2 collection and I would recommend this game to any hardcore gamer looking for a more immersive experience. An hour on this game is actually a workout! I had to take a few breaks and managed to break a sweat! I wasn't too interested in the Eyetoy until I heard about this product. It truely utilizes the technology to do something innovative and it is well worth the $50 just to see for yourself what it is like.

One of the best games of 2004, for all ages!

I think this game is revolutionary and hopefully a sign of things to come in the future of video games. When I see people try it in stores, they are a bit lost as to how to use the camera unless someone shows them. But once you learn, it's a lot of fun. It's like an SSX game, set in a futuristic world, where the board can hover in the air. You'll reach out your arms for targets, jump, duck, twist your arms and body to pull off tricks, which product speed boosts. Getting used to the camera is easy, but you need a room with the right amout of light. Too much sunlight and everything fades out, the camera can't see you. Not enough sunlight, the camera can't see you either. But when you have just the right amount, the control is pretty good. The camera locks onto your face, the only trick is to remain standing in that same spot. Only crouch down when you need to do a jump or a duck move. Be aware of your arms, there are 3 basic positions to use when reaching for objects. There are rails you can ride, once you get on, you can't fall off, and you should look out for wheel type objects, if you get all of them, you can perform a special rail switch to go down another path. Reviewers have knocked the game for only 5 tracks, but they are each pretty long with multiple paths, and you can do each one for either trick mode or speed mode. I think if you are motivated to move your body, get some mild exercise and play a game at the same time, you will find a lot of replay value. I'd love to see this become the start of a new gaming trend...hopefully there will be a sequel with even more tracks.

Fun and innovative game

This is one heck of a game. And it doesn't even involve blood and mayhem.

The object of the game is to control a person riding on a hoverboard by using head and arm movements which are tracked by the Eyetoy USB camera that is included in the game package. There are two game modes: speed and style. In both modes, hitting targets or doing tricks on your character's hoverboard gains you speed and/or points.

It doesn't take long to immerse yourself in the game so much so that you better close your blinds or else your neighbors might think you've gone over the edge when they see you flailing around and jumping up and down for no apparent reason. Yes, in the more difficult segments, you actually do work yourself into a sweat. It's that aerobic!

The Eyetoy's main drawback is that it needs quite a bit of light to track your movements. It starts complaining by blinking a red LED when it senses there isn't enough light to see you (and you'll notice it because it won't be able to track your body commands). I rectified that by using two bright table lamps with their shades removed.

This is definitely a fun and innovative game. I hope that more of this genre comes out in the future! Highly recommended!

This game is ridiculously fun! There are lots of new and cool games out there with the latest graphics, but this game actually raises the bar on fun. When you first start the game, it explains how to calibrate the camera to your head and body. (This is important!) Instead of showing a grainy, unflattering image of yourself on the screen, your movements control a futuristic hoverboarder, and let me tell you, the future is very cool. Your head movements do the steering, and it takes a little while to get used to. In terms of movements, less is more. Moving too much will cause you to over-steer and send your character careening out of control. Fortunately the tutorial is very good and covers all of the basics.
There are two modes of play--points mode (ie hitting targets) and speed mode (racing). You will need to steer with your head while ducking, jumping, and waving your arms around to hit various targets. The design of the cities is really cool; in fact it's fun just to hover around and explore. This will also allow you to discover which paths are the shortest. In certain areas you will ride on "rails" which are beams of neon light with targets placed in different areas which can be hit for speed boost or for points. You can fall from incredible heights wihout dying, which is always fun, and in certain areas you can even fly. This game is just ... incredibly fun. It is rated "E" for everyone--kid friendly but definitely not just for kids. You can unlock more characters, alternate outifts and more levels. If you are having trouble, make sure no other people or pets are in the camera field, try recalibrating and also try to wear colors that contrast with the background. For example, don't wear a white long sleeved shirt against a white wall. There's a little calibration indicator on the bottom right of the screen which will show you where the camera thinks your head and hands are, so that can help you figure out any problems which might arise. There really are no other games like this on the market--even among the relativey few eyetoy games out there. The game is packaged with the camera and doesn't cost any more than the rest of the new games on the market, which makes me think they just threw the camera in there as a freebie. Happy Hovering!

- Game comes with EyeToy.
- Get a good aerobic workout rather than gain pounds sitting on your butt learning to kill people. Each level gets harder so your workout gets harder too.
- Fast paced music and great artwork to motivate you. 30 minute workout seemed to last only 5 minutes!
- Hoverboarding is a great gameplay concept and to-date this is the best camera-tracked game I've seen.
- User interface is very well implemented and functions entirely with from the camera and a wave of your hand.
- Built-in hands-on tutorial is excellent and gets you moving fast.
- EyeToy camera warns you if there isn't enough light in the room by illuminating a little red light on the camera. But I've found that 2 60W bulbs did the trick at night.

I teach video game programming at the University of Illinois at Chicago, so this is definitely one of the things I'm going to show my students.

I purchased this game recently and so far am very pleased with the results. Unlike other claims, I had no problem with the lighting of the EyeToy. The game is great. The graphics are incredible and so far every move I have done the camera has picked it up and used it properly in the game. The levels are challenging and once you start playing, you don't want to stop! If your looking for an interactive game that challenges you physically and mentally, this is it. Applause to Sony and the makers of Antigrav!

Great Game - I want to buy it without the camera - HELP!

I already own the eye toy camera because it came with "Eye Toy Play". We had a chance to play Antigrav and it was a blast. I just want to buy the game but not the whole camera set again.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

THE FUTURE IS HERE, MIGHT AS WELL TRY IT.

WOW, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT OVER THE ORIGINAL(AND I LIKED THAT).
THIS GAME ACTUALLY TRACKS YOUR FACE AS YOU MOVE AND ADJUSTS THE GAME ACCORDINGLY.
TONS OF FUN, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT TONY HAWK'S NEXT GAME WILL INCLUDE AN EYETOY FEATURE.
