TWO WORDS FOR THIS GAME................

INSTANT CLASSIC! Sega did it right again. The game is just amazing. The screenshots on the net don't even do the game justice. For the first hour of playing the game, I found myself running into the walls, because I was too busy picking my jaw off the floor. If their is a downside it might be that there is just over 100 cars in the game, not comparing it to Gran Turismo with 300+. But the game is AWESOME! ...

WORTH EVERY LAST PENNY!

This game is the best console racing game ever. The graphics are simply amazing! You can build original cars from from scratch--over 20 million combinations are possible! There are 130 perfectly rendered GT sports cars, 22 tracks and over 20 special event races. The only downside to this game is that the control is a little bit hard to get used to. If you loved any of the Gran Turismo's you'll love Sega GT! BUY IT NOW!

Gran Torismo for dreamcast?

Clones are usually pretty bad... but this one is better than the original. The graphics are great and the enviroments are wonderful. There are about 22 tracks, about 100 cars, and a car editor (carozzeria). The car editor allows you to pick the engine, its induction (NA tune, turbo, and super), engine location (front, mid, rear), which wheels drive the car, body style, and paint scheme. The lincence tests are only resticted to one lap around the track in the prescribed time.

Copied features

tach/speedometer, simliar replay functions, licence tests

Pros

Car editor, Aprox. 22 wonderful tracks, Realistic acceration

Cons

When braking, car steering is stopped

If you liked Gran Torismo, you love this game

Good, but not good enough!

I dont know if my expectations for this game were too lofty, I was expecting a game at least as good as Gran Turismo, but it is not. The graphics going along with most all Dreamcast games are very good, as a matter of fact the best graphics to date for a racing game. But the problem with this game seems to be the same problem that has plagued other dreamcast titles. The problem is that the game seems to have been hastily produced and the game seriously suffers for that. There are only around 100 cars in the game. That might be enough for some, but Gran Turismo 2 has many, many more cars, and the Dreamcast is supposed to be a superior system so therefore it should produce a game that is just as good or better than Gran Turismo. Secondly the tracks are not very interesting and many times hard to navigate. Another poor point to the game is the sound. The sound effects are LOUSY. The cars do not sound like real cars. For example the turbo cars in Gran Turismo have a noticeable turbo whine which distinguished them from the non turbo cars, that sound is not there in Sega Gt (I dont think that is too nitpicky, I drive a car with a turbo, and you can definitly hear it when it spools up). I think that example just shows how Sega Gt is nowhere near as thorough as Gran Turismo. Some people may not think its fair to compare the two games, but if you have played Sega Gt you can see that it is basically a rip off of Gran Turismo, pretty much everything is straight out of it, from the liscensing to the way that you tune your car, except that Gran Turismo has a much better interface. There are no features that are new different or for that matter better than what Gran Turismo offers. The ONLY thing that Sega Gt has that is better than Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2 is its graphics, and with the Playstation 2 coming out soon and Gran Turismo 2000 there will soon be nothing better about this game compared to the competition. Overall I gave this game 2 stars because the Dreamcast is more powerful than the Playstation has better sound than the Playstaion and supposedly better gameplay, but what I have found is that this game can only compete with on the level of Graphics, Gran Turismo 1&2 are much better games, and more fun to play. With all that is better about the Dreamcast this game does not compare with a game from an inferior system (there is no excuse for that!) If this is the kind of game that you can expect from the Dreamcast this system will soon be joining the Saturn.

Sega GT: another worthy addition to your Dreamcast library

I'll be honest: I'm not into most racing games because many of them just don't appeal to me for one reason or another, but Sega GT is an exception. The graphics are pretty good, nothing revolutionary here, but very adequate. The game runs very smoothly and luckily, there are no irritating pop-ups, with the backgound and buildings gently coming into view as to not distract too much. The one thing that is great about this game is its use of lighting effects; everything is rendered beautifully and looks gorgeous. However, the one negative is that the controls are a bit sensitive and you have to get used to that, so a lot of practice is needed to truly master the game. The first time I played this game I wasn't all that thrilled because it does have a high learning curve, but then after you really sit down with it, you begin to appreciate its beauty. Sega GT offers a very realistic driving experience that will make you come back for more!

best dreamcast racing game yet

Of all the current dreamcast racing games, Sega GT is by far the best and most realistic. All the 100+ cars handle extremely well and accurately. The graphics are simpy stunning; just check out the background scenery.

If you played the Gran Turismo games on the playstation, this game will remind you ALOT about it; with better graphics of course. Everything, from the menus, to license tests, to the replays, will seem like your playing Gran Tursimo, only with a prettier face.

As of now, this is the best console racing game out; those into 'arcade' like racing will disagree. But for those who like realism and car tuning, this is it. Till Gran Turismo 2000 hits the playstation2, make mine Sega GT.

The Real Truth About Sega GT

Sega GT is an amazing game, I'll give you that, but what do you consider to be amazing? The truth is is that Sega GT has nice graphics, nothing superb, but nice. The truth is is that this racing game is like none before it. I am a fan of the Ridge Racer series, and I'll tell you upstraight, this is not in any way like Ridge Racer. Sega GT is about two major components, how good of a driver you are, and how good is your car. The trick is to win a many races as possible to improve your car to its fullest and best potential. This is not an easy thing to do. Uniquely, this is the first racing game that I've seen where you can 1. make your own car 2. sell your car 3. own more than one car. Once you play Sega GT after about an hour you will understand that the driving skills you need to finish races are much more complex than that of Ridge Racer. This game is a true racer. It can get frustrating at times, but remember, if you really are a true gamer, graphics are not everything. The graphics a very good, but they are not the best I've seen (if you know what I mean, actually I'm being quite picky because the graphics are superb compared to many video games). The graphics are its only flaw. Otherwise, this is a definite must have because it is probably the best racer you've seen yet.

I've played Gran Turismo...this is no Gran Turismo.

On its own merits, this is a great game. It's the second game I bought for Dreamcast. My main problem is that I can't help comparing it to Gran Turismo 1 and 2 for PSX. If it weren't for that, I'd be in heaven...but I don't find the "driving experience" in GT as enjoyable or realistic (as if I've ever taken a hair-pin turn at 120 mph). The cars feel like they're "floating" and it is extremely difficult to push the rear end out on tight turns. To be fair, I don't have a driving wheel for GT (yet) and I don't have anywhere near the hours of practice (yet). Don't get me wrong...it's a great game...but Gran Turismo is still KING in my book.

Another Solid Racer

I admit when I first played this game with my friend the night i bought it I thought to myself, "Why in the world did I buy this game?" Now I haven't had the luxury to play Gran Turismo, but I have played many racers before and I can say now this is by far my favorite. If you can get over the steep learning curve (the controls are hard to get used to) and spend some time in championship mode you will find this game hard to put down. Whether you're racing a Acura NSX you spent $140,000 to [prep] or racing a car you made from the very cool "Carrozeria" you will love this game. The reason this game gets 4 stars instead of five is because it's two-player racing is only about as half as much fun as Championship mode and the track selection is really really small.
