An amazing advancement for the series.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an extremely polished game that you can tell has a higher amount of thought put in their multiplayer levels. There are a million different strategies for each map and they all have their chance to work. The multiplayer modes are also very well done with the introduction of the Team Leader game type that is hours of fun and great for clan matches.

As for the Single-player... well it is much better than the first rainbow. There is two-player co-op and the A.I. on both sides is pretty damn intelligent. The best part of the game as a whole is that the rank for the character is increased from anything you play in the game. The game is all one but split up experience, Everything you play will increase your rank, but all the modes are quite drastically different.

First off, I only played the single player version. I can't speak for the online game.

Compared to R6V1 the graphics and physics are improved at the cost of performance. There is some annoying lag in graphics-heavy scenes. Otherwise it's nothing dramatically new. You have to take Tangos down, break out the rope, make your mates hustle, enter doors, etc.

The biggest downer for me compared to R6V1 is that while in the latter I had the feeling of being immersed in a movie-like story, having to find Irena with a somewhat surprising plot unfolding, R6V2 made me ask myself "so why am I here again?". Not so good either is that the game crashed on me once, enforcing a reboot. My team mates several times became uncontrollable. I told them to fall in on me, they answered with "yes captain", but they stayed in their spot. Trying to make them go to a specific location had no effect either. I had to walk back to them, try sending them to a close-by location several times until they finally moved, and then they would follow me again. That problem, however, I also observed with R6V1, only not so frequently. It seems to me frankly the developers tried to implement many good, new AI, physics, and graphics features but were forced to release the game prematurely without enough time for testing to get rid of all the bugs.

The beginning acts and scenes of the game were easy. Then it got to the point of being killed a lot. This and what I said above led me to quit playing without finishing, simply due to having lost interest. That only happened once to me before.

I had looked forward to this game very much and frankly found it a disappointing sequel to a good thing.

A single player point of view

Let me start by saying that I primarily played this game as a single player. I do not play online or co-op all that often.

As a single player campaign the game is great. I am playing through on the Realistic setting and it is a good challenge. There have been a few times where I get bogged down in an area and I have to replay it a few times until I get past it, but I enjoy that.

A few new perks to the game include the ability to shoot through cover, sprinting, enhanced AI (more flanking attempts, more aggresive when the terrorists have an advantage), better teammates (they actually can hit something they aim at!, they can throw grenades)and, more grenades (5 instead of 3) to name a few.

The Terrorist Hunt Mode has a few improvements for it as well. You can now bring your teammates with you and the terrorists are a lot more aggressive. On the Kill House board I never had to move from the first room to beat the board, they kept coming to me.

The experience point system is new to the game as well. It is an interesting way to unlock the weapons and gear but the scoring system seems to have a small flaw. There are three categories, Marksmen, CQB and Assault. You can only get points in one category. If you kill someone from distance with a headshot from behind, you will only get credit for one of the feats not all three. That however would be my only complaint about this game. It is a great game and I recommend it to any person that enjoys a FPS.

This game takes the shooter to a new level. Allowing you to rank up while playing the missions is great. Why don't all shooters do this. The new maps are great. I only miss LVU.

Wait on this one!

Ahh! I expected more from this game! Yes, is fun but it does not worth the $59.00 Game play has little new to offer and Multiplayer is a way below COD4. wait until it drops price or you can get it used at a lower price at Amazon.

Did I just play a game?

My word how short this game was. In the space of a weekend it was already beat. I was a little disappointing that I paid for this game instead of renting it from gamefly. Replayability is ok, but not great. In several scenes it took a minute for all the polygons to render which I thought took away from the realism of the game.

If you've been playing CoD3 as much as I have, getting used to a different button layout can take some getting used to. I grenaded my team more then once (or myself) by accident. But, you quickly pick up the layout of the buttons and get into the action. The story moves along briskly, perhaps too briskly, and the story unfolds at a rapid clip. As is typical for a shooter, you don't do much besides shoot. Your lackeys (I mean teammates) do most of the work and you stand around and/or shoot people.

One other quirk, when you first meet the hispanic woman whose family and friends is being held hostage, do you think they could have made her stay out of your way more? I tried to crouch behind the wall and shoot around the corner and she was so close to me I couldn't because of some glitch. Very annoying.

So, would I recommend this game? Sure, but I wouldn't pay $60 for it. I'd rent it and return it. It's not that good and it's not worth $60.

What a let down

I had high expectations for this game after playing call of duty, what happened. The characters move extremely slow with or without body armor. It seems as though a lot of the maps have just been redone from the first one. Hardly anything seems new in the game. I played it for a couple of days and sold it. I am back to playing call of duty now.

Engrossing! I loved the gameplay improvements, storyline, and the replayability of it. I have always been a Rainbow Six fan. This game has all the heart pounding action and set in a realistic background. The storyline ended a little too movie like though. Myself I would like to keep the cliffhanger thing going so that I will stay hungry for the next installment. In a nut shell I had a great expierience playing this game. And that's what counts. If you want a game you can get lost in with real weapons, really smart bad guys, great location, huge sets, and the ability to kick some terorist butt? Then look to this game to give it you. This game should be ranked right along side of Call of Duty 4. Myself I love the online play better than the game, because of the people you meet and fight with are just like christmas (you never know what you going to get). As a recently retired service member this game has more realistic action than people who have never been in a fire fight would care to know. Buy this game!!!

Sure, I miss the glitz from the first game, but the series has always been pretty much the same w/the exception of it's ever-evolving control and command scheme; These games are now 2nd nature to fans in terms of control, and everything worked smoothly for me. If only 'Army of Two' had taken a nod from any of the Tom Clancy games in this regard. I also appreciate the fact they put in a 'casual' gamer option. While not for me, I know people just starting out on console gaming, let alone a FPS's, could use the help at first. Colorful and intense, this game is just fun and great at what it sets out to do. We all know what to expect from the series by now, and this delivers more of the same...in a good way. Nice ranking upgrades in single player mode, as well as weapon selections and upgrades. The character model selection is also kind of fun. However, some better locations and more shiny, bright lights would have made this a five star game. Also. I thought the single player mode/story was way too short and not as intense fighting-wise as the last game. It was much easier, in fact.

I usually don't buy tactical shooters because they are too complex, but R6V2 called my attention because of the co-op component. After playing the demo for the first game I decided to buy this one and have been pleasantly surprised. The gameplay is solid and the A.C.E.S. system is a good new addition. My only complain is that so far I've had the game slow down on me several times which causes a severe framerate drop and audio delay. This is frustrating since I die often as a result and to fix the problem I have to turn off my Xbox 360 to continue playing normally. Other than, that this is a great game and I highly recommended it.
