Don't get too attached to your pet.....

As a parent I was very troubled to learn that the dog in DOGZ "dies" after a mere 3 weeks. This totally put me off of this game. We borrowed the game from a friend to give it a try and although the game itself was fun for my kids, having them train the dog and have it "die" on them was just disturbing and plain sad. So after trying out DOGZ and being rather disappointed with it we went out and purchased POCKET DOGS instead. The gameplay and graphics there is closer to Nintendogs for Nintendo DS and my kids love it. Plus it has the added benefit of being able to keep the dog without a set time limit.

My advice is to borrow or rent (if you can) "Dogz" but if you want a keeper then go for "Pocket Dogs."

Repetitive but fun alternative to Nintendogs

If, like me, you don't have a Gameboy DS and don't foresee getting one soon, and were disappointed that Nintendogs isn't being offered in an GBA version, you may just enjoy Dogz. The graphics between the two don't really compare, and Dogz is a different concept, but it gives you 18 choices of breeds to choose, and it's a petcare simulation that can be fun and addictive.

Your character in the game is a 3rd grader, and your Mom and Dad have decided to let you have your own puppy. You go to the petstore and choose a pet - the choices offered are based on 3 questions you answer at the beginning of the game, as far as what gender of dog you like, what size, and how energetic you like your dog to be. Once you get your new puppy home, your job then becomes to see how well you can care for and train your dog for the next three weeks.

The graphics are simple, comparable to the Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town GBA game. The text is easy to read but repetitive, and much of the action during the game is repeating things in order to help your puppy "learn." You teach the dog to sit, stay, respond to its name - and not to poop on its bed!

Overall, this game is very easy. Older players (I'm 28!) might find this game TOO easy and annoying; it can be completed with one day of continuous gameplay, actually. Younger players will enjoy its simplistic goals and graphics. Like I said in the title, this could be a fun alternative to the Nintendogs phenomenon if you don't want to purchase a DS system.

Great Game!!!!!!!!!!

This game is fun! Okay, not only do you get to get a dog, name it, and teach it tricks, but you can also do things for yourself, such as play with toys, sleep, eat, go to school! Theres a back yard too, and your dad plays golf! After you teach it sit and stay, you can go on walks. After the 3 weeks, you save your file onto Freinds Forever and you get to keep it forever, and make a new file. You can have 3 files! This game is awsome, so buy it!!!

Very Entertaining!

My nine year old daughter loves this game! She has been asking for it since her older sisters received a similar game for their Nintendo DS systems. Though it's not as graphic and detailed as the DS game, she is very happy with it and has no problem moving though the game. She plays it often and is always full of smiles and giggles as she plays!

Fun,easy, and really cute!

This game is a lot of fun. I'm having a blast traing my Shiba-Inu, Twiz.First you pick a pooch, there must be a thousand choices. Then of coarse, you name it. At home you can feed your dog, teach him or her tricks, listin to music, play mini games, walk your dog, and clean the house! This game is great! The only thing is that you have your dog only for 20 game days. That's around an hour in real life. If you have a young or sensitive child this may not be the best. The dog is "took away from you" shortly. But don't worry! You can visit your pooch anytime!Just go to "Forever Together Mode" in the start menu.I REALLY recomend this game for un-sensitive children! Have fun! :)

Fun at first....

I bought this game becuase it looked so cute and all. But I was quite sad that after a days hard traing and all it was time for the puppy to go! One day in that game is like 3 minutes long! Also there are tricks that arent in the real game but in together forever mode! Overall it was good but I still wish it was longer and had more space for saving dogs and more breeds!

I am so thrilled that Game Boy has this game! My children (ages 7 & 10) have been playing computer games for years. I finally purchased Game Boy's now that they're responsible enough not to lose them. This game has been and will probably always be one of their favorites. It was a favorite on PC and is the most played on their Game Boys! As far as being a "rip off", the original Dogz on PC is at least 6 years old. We have Dogz 1, Dogz 3, Dogz 4, and Petz 5 (dogz AND catz interactive). They're all a lot of fun! Enjoy this game. Silly fun for dogs lovers of any age!

I love this game

This game is so much fun! I'm a blast playing with my dog, KoKo.All the dogs are adorable! The graphics are also good. This game never gets boring! You get to train your dog to do cool tricks. When you walk you can buy stuff like beds and leashes and food. The house is nice and so is the neihborhood. The dog's easy to train as long as you can take about 15 minutes to do it. The one and only low point is that time passes by too quickly. But that doesn't matter much. Please buy this game 6-12! :)

This game is so much fun! First, you have to pick out a dog. There are 18 adorable breeds. Then, your adventure begins. You have to train your dog, feed your dog, and so much more! This might sound like a lot of work, but in this game, work is fun. I think the Dogz for Nintendo DS is more fun, but I still think this game is fun too. Oh, and also, you have three weeks to do all of this stuff. Then, when your three weeks are over, you can put your puppy is always together mode. I love this game!
