Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, and its sequel Rogue Spear, have been put onto several game systems, N64, Playstation, Dreamcast, PS 2, and now GBA. It's hard to believe that such a complicated game can be so wonderfully translated to the GBA. The game is brillant. Though the controls are complex due to a lack of buttons on the GBA, you can adjust to them in time and start playing like a pro. You have full control over every aspect of your mission. From the guns, armor, secondary weapons, and your team members, you're given everything you need to complete the numerous covert ops of this game. On top of this, there's the incredible multi-player features of this game. Three people can work cooperatively to complete missions. The graphics are exceptional, allowing you to see most every detail of the environments. The sound is a key feature of this game. Being able to hear the footsteps of your enemies, helps you greatly in this game. It's very seldom occured where a GBA port of an already great game turns out like this. This is by far one of the better games for the GBA to date.

Dont Listen to the bad reviews....

Rogue Spear is a major success in the Rainbow Six series. With great graphics for the GBA, good plot, and good use of sound as a strategic element, this game deserves 5 big stars. Try it out.

I've played this game, well... nice and clear graphics, astounding sound, excellent gameplay and AI, team play, multiplayer! What else?
Rogue Spear is the demonstration of what GBA can do besides usual platform-jump-and-catch-the-coins games, it's not a simplified porting of an existent retro-game but it's all new, and without comparable GBA titles at this moment.
Perhaps someone here, who has managed to test Rogue Spear GBA before it was released (Feb 11th ?), can't even **imagine** (since it's all he can do with a game he CAN'T have played) that you can be captured inside an action which is framed in a 1.5 x 1 " screen, but I swear it's true!
A must-own.

Balancing

First off, I think its wrong to judge games before they are released. This is why I'm giving this game 5 stars to balance out the review. There is not a lot of games for the GBA that are bad looking... in fact, I have yet to be disappointed with a GBA game.

Secondly, this game will be released in March... it's still February. Buy games on what you feel, not on what others say.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! BUY NOW!

Boy, this game is DEEP: Just forget what they say about cinematics, there are not ! Those comments where about some pc version speculation... Nothing like that. The story is NEW (it's the sequel), all missions are NEW (though some locations are in common with pc, and the story explains why .
After the first 5 minutes I didn't think I was going to like it...I had played the PC version of the first R6 game and the GBA version felt very, very oversimplified in terms of strategy, and yet overly complex in the way of control - WAS I WRONG! 3 missions in and I am LOVING this title! It really requires that you choose a well balanced team in terms of gear and utilize ALL the controls proficiently - once you can switch players and gear, strafe, crouch etc without thinking about which buttons to press, the game suddenly opens up! Like all games of this type, the beauty of the gameplay comes from the freestyle approach one can take approaching certain situations: if you want to storm in guns ablaze, then this is possible, however if you prefer to take just your sniper (with a high stealth statistic) and sneak around in the shadows, eliminating the enemy via stealth tactics then this is possible too!
Sound is absolutely astounding! In fact I would go out on a limb to say that the audio is the best, most immersive I personally have heard on the system to date! FULL of digitalized audio.(Use headphones!!!)
And.. multiplayer ... is like counterstrike on GBA !! Even the flashbang blid effect is here, and the sniper is really cool. So amazing AI, open and deep tactical -1 shot 1 kill- gameplay. Get it, and understand that a complex game has a learning curve.

Wow!

I couldn't imagine that a great game like Rogue Spear would come out so well on game boy advadced. The graphics are actually pretty good and the game play is amazing. I wonder who the smart guys are that post a review before the game is released. Maybe a rival software company??? That's the only explanation I can give because the game is really good and really fun to play.

rogue spear is a lot of fun

This is one fun game! Counterterrorism games are often repetitous and boring but this one is so much better. You have a team of four combat speacialists and you lead them into close quarters combat engagements to rescue hostages, defuse bombs, install cameras, and much more. You have the option of choosing one or more of th following types of soldiers: assault- the basic assault commando with automatic weapons designed for CQB (close quarters battle) and rescue ops, the demolition speacialist- with a giant bazzoka type gun that kills in one hit but reloads slowly and has a suprisingly small clip. The sniper speacialist is good for two things. 1. checking out a room ahead for guards, and 2. eliminating single patrollers and carries a high-powered sniper rifle with fairly accurate aiming, and finally recon- helps you track enemies on the radar and backup fighter with their MP-5's. the only problem is the stealth missions, i have beaten the game once but forgot how to do mission number 5...check this game out, its really great.

best game!
