The game Sonic Advanced 2, is really fun. You can unlock new characters and explore fun levels. I think this is a game everyone should own!

This is stupid. I reconmmend you play Sonic Mega Collection

I cannot say much about this game, but enough to steer you clear.
The story is that Dr. Eggman is making trouble again. That is it. There are no story telling elements witin the game.
The object of the game is to get from point A to point B. If you run fast enough in one direction for enough time, you will create a sonic boom and go supersonic. Which needs to happen more often.
Within the levels are emblems. You need a certain amount to go to special stage and get a emerald. Let me tell you, it is so hard to actually collect the emblems, I have never been to special stage. The emeralds unlock the final boss.
The characters are varied by skills and stats.
Cheese can attack from a distance.
Knuckles can punch.
Amy has a hammer.
Sonic is fast.
Tails can fly.

Whoopie.
Now I can go through the whole game with just Cream and Cheese and not break a sweat. There is a diffculty imbalance here.

This game is too imbalanced to be fun.

Now go play Sonic Mega Collection my groupies!!!!

if you exist......

This is one of my favorite games for the GBA. You have your familiar characters: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, plus a new character you'd recognize if you've seen the Sonic-X tv show. Her name's Cream the Rabbit, and she comes fully equipped with her little Chao friend, Cheese. All the characters have some cool new moves, and the graphics are pretty good. Anyone who has ever played a Sonic game will know what to do. For the most part, it's the same. But one thing has changed... The Boss fights. Now instead of fighting the boss in an arena of sorts, you fight on the run. You chase after Robotnik in a crazy, spiky or laser equipped vehicle, trying to pummel him to peices. And of course there's that invisible wall behind you, on the left of the screen, keeping you from falling behind. This change will be a disappointment for some, but I rather enjoyed it. The main part of the game is a bit short, but there are plenty of things to unlock, and it will take plenty of time for you to do so. Myself, I tend to rush through levels, not worrying about getting every ring and item. So finding the 7 special rings for the bonus level doesn't intrest me as much. But I really enjoy the multi-player feature. If a friend has the game, you can link up and race through the levels, which is another thing to give this game longevity.

An excellent game but I would like to see a sequel soon.

Sonic Advance and Sonic Advance 2 are great games but are a little like the F Zero games in the aspect that you like the levels a lot but you just want more so you wish for a sequel and then when it comes you still want another one cause you like it so much but are slightly bored at playing the same levels over and over.I guess thats what keeps them from being true classics.A game like Super Mario World you dont really care if they make a sequel or not because that game is already a masterpiece.Same with Sonic Adventure.Still this game has bright colorful graphics and good music.Plus 4 characters. Its a lot of fun but you just want more, more more.

A good game, with a few exceptions

For the longest time, I was all about Nintendo, and I was anti-anything else... anti-Sega, anti-Playstation, anti-NeoGeo, anti-TurboGrafix16, etc.

Then I started dating a girl who has a Genesis, and got hooked on Sonic. Liking the 3 or 4 games she has, I decided to buy this game for my GBA. For the most part, it's awesome... new stages, new characters, great graphics and music... and like other reviewers said -- if you're familiar with the Genesis Sonic games, you'll be right at home with this title.

However, there are a few things I really do NOT like:

1) The first several stages are pretty easy, but then they get much harder. I'm stuck on the sky world, because there's one jump which is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to make without doing some kind of specialized new move that Sonic never had before. I don't mind when special moves give you access to secret bonus areas, but I hate it when tricky special moves are *required* to get past a certain part of a game. Even after reading numerous FAQ's and walkthroughs on how to get past it, I can't. This one hurdle alone has turned me off so much, that I've practically given up on the game. (At least until I finally break down and buy today's GBA equivalent to the Game Genie.)

2) One review for "Sonic Advance 3" mentions frustration with the fact that the game levels are so huge, it's impossible to memorize the locations of all the special items required to unlock special stages. One thing I've never been good at in any Sonic game is memorizing the stages, or getting to the end of a bonus stage. I know these things are "above and beyond" what's required of the basic game, but I think they forgot -- it's a GAME, it should be fun. When I want hard work, I go to my job.

3) You can't access all the characters until you "unlock" them. If I paid $25 for this game, I should be able to access ALL the features right off the bat. I shouldn't be required to play the entire game all the way through with 4 different characters just to unlock a 5th character who'd probably be wind up not even being worth the effort. How'd you like to pay $25,000 for a car that doesn't allow you to access all its features until you've driven a certain number of miles or you've successfully completed some 43-key sequence on the stereo in 25 seconds or less? Same goes for the Gamecube Sonic Mega Collection -- I paid enough for it, I should be able to play ALL the games immediately... none of this "unlocking" bullcrap.

4) I alluded to this in the previous item -- once you unlock new characters, it's like they have their own "account" in the game. For example, you can't have Sonic play the first 3 acts, then have Tails take over. Each character has to play through the entire game on their own. I guess it's a neat way to learn each character's differences and advantages -- but I'd prefer the "Super Mario Bros. 2" style of character selection... where ALL the characters are available all the time, and you can choose the person who is best suited for each stage.

Boring, boring, boring!!

I..I..I can't believe this!! This, this game is supposed to be good? OK, I play it, and, I get bored. And plus it's too hard to unlock the bonus features. This games STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Get Advance Wars!!! Ya, buy it. It's better, trust me.

Great!!

The gameplay is just like the old days where being able to push forward on the contral pad/stick and quick reflexes were all that were needed to play well. Just look out for one thing. READ THE MANUAL. Learn the moves. Some of the jumps are too far for Sonic to make and some manuevers are needed to cross gaps.

Excellent game!

Another great sonic adventure!
Dr. Eggman is up to his old tricks again, and sonic and friends must put a stop to it. Your favorite characters are back in Sonic's fastest adventure. Cream, tails, and Knuckles joins Sonic, as they start a blazingly fast quest to collect Chaos Emeralds and thwart Dr. Eggman's nefarious machines. dodge many different enemies, avoid obstacles, unlock secret areas, and uncover the hidden Chaos Emeralds to turn Sonic into Super Sonic for the final battle!

Sonic Advance 2 has excellent graphics, gampeplay, sound, and is very fun and addicting. I would reccomend this game to any Sonic fan.

Fun for the majority but ends up being too damn hard.

Like any other 2D Sonic game, this game does offer a huge amount of fun, with colorful levels and jazzy music. But the last 3 stages are so damn hard you'll just be chucking your Nintendo against the wall in a fit of rage.

There are too many traps and stingers in each level. For a game that sort of promotes itself on being the fastest platformer out there it is quite cruel to send you straight into enemy, losing all your rings and leaving you powerless to do anything about it. The levels do seem a bit expansive as well and lack that tight, punchy feel of the Mega Drive/Genesis games.

In this game you can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and a new character called Cream, who is a rabbit. Strangely enough, Sonic is the blandest character of the lot in this game as he has no useful powers. I ended up getting the furthest with Tails since he has the ability to go airbourne. The last boss is simply impossible and the game is not rewarding enough to take all 4 characters this far.

But hey, if you can get it cheap then give it a go. Maybe I'm just really rubbish at it.

Sound B
Gameplay B+
Lasting Appeal C+

Go Sonic!!!!
