Much better on NES than GBA

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 6 / 7

When I purchased this game, I was expecting something on par with the NES release that I had hours of fun with when I was younger. This game is fun, and is perfectly capable of allowing you to waste many hours searching for the secrets hidden in each level, but it is not the same as the NES release because it was not ported over to GBA very well.

As others have mentioned, the scrolling is a big problem. If an enemy is coming at you from the left (particularly out of the sky), your chances for survival are approximately 0.01%, since you cannot see them coming and therefore have no time to react, unless you constantly use the annoying L button. The "slot machine" extra life game has also been altered - but not for the better, since your chances of winning an extra life (to replace the one you lost when you were done in by that enemy coming from the left) are again 0.01%.

The original Mario Brothers arcade game, however, is true to the original and will be enjoyed by anyone who appreciated it in the arcade or on the NES. The scrolling is not a problem for the original and there are no annoying changes to note.

The must have gameboy advance game!

Remember the original Super Mario 2 for Nintendo? Well it's back and better than ever! With improved graphics, this will prove to be the best handheld Mario ever. It offers a wide variety of enemies and levels to go through. The sound is great and the graphics are crisp. This is a must have game with your brand new Gameboy Advance.

I am just so happy!

Today I was in K-Mart and I saw that they had a Game Boy Advance that you could play, so I played. I'd already pre-ordered mine at the end of March so to finally be able to see what the whole thing is about was such a release. I have nothing but praise for the system and this game. Super Mario Advance is a great updated version of my personal favorite Mario title Super Mario Bros 2. The graphics were great, and I really love the voices. I think that they are so hot! I love it! Event he bosses talk to you! Amazing! I didn't notice any messy play control, and I didn't find that the updated version violated any secret Mario code of honor. It is still and amazingly enjoyable game and I am glad that Nintendo put this one out as a launh title.

Great Game, But Something's Missing.

To be honest, I was expecting something more from Mario's GAME BOY ADVANCE debut. Don't get me wrong, though, I enjoyed this game a lot, the graphics are much improved from both previous versions of this game, with colourful backgrounds and nicely animated character and enemy sprites, the sound is incredible for a handheld, with memorable music from the original, and the voices add much character to the game, but, aside from one or two jumbo shy-guys, this is pretty much the exact same game we played on our NES and SNES. Why couldn't nintendo add more to this game? Maybe a few more levels or even a new unlockable character? (Yoshi would have been cool, unlocked after finding all of his eggs or something.) I hope Nintendo smartens up for Super Mario Advance 2. As for Mario Brothers, this one of the BEST parts of the collection. It is such a challenging addictive game, far improved with a game link cable and a few GAME BOY ADVANCE owning friends. We've had a complete blast with the battle mode. All in all, this is a good game that should be welcome to any GAME BOY ADVANCE owners, as long as you love Super Mario 2 or have never even played it. I just wish there was something more to it.

this is the best game ever

Super Mario Advance is two great classic games rolled into one. Super Mario Bros. 2 is the main adventure. You can choose from Mario,Luigi,Peach and Toad to guide through the levels which are full of vegtables to throw at enemies. There are several bosses such as Birdo and Wart which now have enhanced voices. It's a great platform game. Super Mario Bros. is the old classic in which you stop simple enemies by jumping and hitting them. The multiplayer version of Super Mario Bros. is where the game really shines. It's regular Super Mario Bros but you get to team up or try to beat up your other players. The multiplayer version also gives items to help stop your enemy. Super Mario Advance may be two old games but with all the new features it makes it seem new again.

A better game then it was so long ago...

The 32-bit processing power really helped this game out alot. The sprites (game characters), look as detailed as a PSX sprite game. The level designs are basically the same with better graphics and a few new additions including "biggies", those giant sized characters like the ghosts of Super Mario World. The sound is infinitely better than the old NES soundcard midis.

The control is very tight and the control takes a little getting used to not as the player below stated (having to stay in the 25% of the screen), this has always been the case. But the hardware itself is alot different than the NES controller and the screen is wider making compensation a little strange at first. Honestly, I think you will get used to it, I did in about 15 minutes of play I was feeling quite comfortable.

You will love this game and F-Zero.

Brings Back the Good Old NES Days

When Nintendo re-released the original Super Mario Bros. as Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Game Boy, I was pretty excited. I had been longing to play that game again for years. My NES had long since died and that game was one of my all-time favorites. Now we get the original Super Mario Bros 2 for the Game Boy Advance. That is what Super Mario Advance actually is. If you never owned a NES and/or never played Super Mario Bros 2, you should definitely get this game. If you did play this game on the NES, you should still get it. It brought back great memories of playing the old game as a kid. Plus, it adds some new aspects to the original game. Now, instead of playing through the game to beat the final boss and being done, there is actually replay value here. Every level has 5 red coins and 2 yoshi eggs hidden somewhere in the level that you have to find in order to completely beat the game. Is there a whole lot of incentive to actually do this? Not really, but it still adds another dimension to the game.

I should also mention that these NES games work perfectly on the Game Boy Advance. The control works fine, the graphics of the Game Boy Advance are actually better than those of the NES. Hopefully Nintendo continues this trend and releases more of its original gmaes on the Game Boy Advance.

An Under-Rated Fun and Challenging game!!

Super Mario Advance is the best Mario game on the market. The easy to learn controls make this game fun for all ages, even teenagers! You can be Mario, Peach, Toad, or Luigi. Each character has there own strength rating, speed rating, jump rating, and own voice! I would highly recommend to start out with either Toad or Mario. There are 7 different worlds and 20 different levels. At the end of each level, you will face a mini boss. At the end of each world you will face a boss. I really like the vegetables being the weapons. There are many varietys of vegetables like onions and cucumbers. This game has great crystal clear sound and bright clors making it easy to see. I recommend this to be one of the first games you buy for Game Boy Advance!

This Game is the best game ever!!!!!!
